RHSA-2026:91489
Vulnerability from csaf_redhat - Published: 2026-10-28 01:20 - Updated: 2026-10-30 03:58In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xfrm: Duplicate SPI Handling The issue originates when Strongswan initiates an XFRM_MSG_ALLOCSPI Netlink message, which triggers the kernel function xfrm_alloc_spi(). This function is expected to ensure uniqueness of the Security Parameter Index (SPI) for inbound Security Associations (SAs). However, it can return success even when the requested SPI is already in use, leading to duplicate SPIs assigned to multiple inbound SAs, differentiated only by their destination addresses. This behavior causes inconsistencies during SPI lookups for inbound packets. Since the lookup may return an arbitrary SA among those with the same SPI, packet processing can fail, resulting in packet drops. According to RFC 4301 section 4.4.2 , for inbound processing a unicast SA is uniquely identified by the SPI and optionally protocol. Reproducing the Issue Reliably: To consistently reproduce the problem, restrict the available SPI range in charon.conf : spi_min = 0x10000000 spi_max = 0x10000002 This limits the system to only 2 usable SPI values. Next, create more than 2 Child SA. each using unique pair of src/dst address. As soon as the 3rd Child SA is initiated, it will be assigned a duplicate SPI, since the SPI pool is already exhausted. With a narrow SPI range, the issue is consistently reproducible. With a broader/default range, it becomes rare and unpredictable. Current implementation: xfrm_spi_hash() lookup function computes hash using daddr, proto, and family. So if two SAs have the same SPI but different destination addresses, then they will: a. Hash into different buckets b. Be stored in different linked lists (byspi + h) c. Not be seen in the same hlist_for_each_entry_rcu() iteration. As a result, the lookup will result in NULL and kernel allows that Duplicate SPI Proposed Change: xfrm_state_lookup_spi_proto() does a truly global search - across all states, regardless of hash bucket and matches SPI and proto.

A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's qla2xxx SCSI driver. This vulnerability occurs when commands sent to the firmware (FW) are not properly cleared after a chip reset. A local attacker could exploit a race condition during direct memory access (DMA) unmapping, leading to a kernel panic. This can result in a system crash and a Denial of Service (DoS).
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Bluetooth management (MGMT) component. An attacker could exploit a vulnerability in how Long Term Keys (LTK) are loaded. By providing an oversized encryption size, a stack buffer overflow can occur, potentially leading to a denial of service.
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel, specifically within its Bluetooth Synchronous Connection-Oriented (SCO) component. This vulnerability occurs due to race conditions when multiple connection attempts are made simultaneously on the same Bluetooth socket. This can lead to a use-after-free error, where the system attempts to use memory that has already been released. Exploitation of this flaw could result in system instability, causing the system to crash or become unresponsive, and potentially lead to a denial of service.
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's `nfnetlink_cthelper` component. This vulnerability, an out-of-bounds read, occurs in the `nfnl_cthelper_dump_table()` function when a network connection tracking helper is removed during a dump operation, leading to a bypassed bounds check. A local attacker could exploit this to cause a system crash (denial of service) or potentially access sensitive information from kernel memory.
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's `pcrypt` component. This vulnerability involves how the system handles certain requests, specifically `MAY_BACKLOG` requests, which can indicate a temporary busy state. If not properly managed, the system's processing of these requests could lead to resource exhaustion or instability.
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's SCSI target subsystem. This vulnerability, a buffer overflow, occurs in the `tg_pt_gp_members_show()` function when processing long iSCSI IQN names. An attacker could potentially exploit this by providing a specially crafted input, leading to the disclosure of sensitive information from the kernel stack or a denial of service (DoS) if `CONFIG_FORTIFY_SOURCE` is enabled.
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's procfs component. When reading /proc/[pid]/stat, the do_task_stat() function accesses task->real_parent without proper Read-Copy-Update (RCU) protection. This missing protection creates a race condition, which can lead to a Use-After-Free (UAF) vulnerability. A local attacker could potentially exploit this to cause a system crash or achieve other unspecified impacts.
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's `af_alg` cryptography module. This vulnerability involves an arithmetic overflow when processing associated data lengths during the transmit buffer size check. A remote attacker could exploit this flaw by providing a specially crafted associated data length, potentially leading to a denial of service (DoS) due to system instability.
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's block input/output control group (blk-cgroup) component. This vulnerability, a Use-After-Free (UAF), occurs when multiple block control groups are released at the same time. A race condition allows one group to remove another's entries while it is still in use, leading to premature memory deallocation. This can result in system instability or a denial of service.
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's mac802154 (IEEE 802.15.4 MAC security) component. This vulnerability allows for data corruption and potential kernel crashes when cryptographic transformations are performed on shared network packet data without proper isolation. A remote attacker could exploit this by sending specific 802.15.4 traffic, leading to system instability or denial of service.
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Virtual Extensible LAN (VXLAN) module. This vulnerability occurs because a cached IP header pointer is improperly reused after a Path Maximum Transmission Unit (PMTU) check. When the packet's head is modified during the PMTU check, the old cached IP header pointer becomes invalid, leading to a Use-After-Free (UAF) condition. This memory corruption flaw can potentially allow an attacker to cause a system crash or execute arbitrary code.
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's blk-mq component. This use-after-free vulnerability occurs when a task attempts to submit a bio (a data structure for I/O operations) to blk-mq. If the task is interrupted and sleeps after checking for a cached request but before using it, the cached request can be prematurely freed. This can lead to system instability or crashes.
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's nvmet-auth component. A remote attacker, by sending a specially crafted NVMe-oF (NVMe over Fabrics) authentication reply message, can cause an out-of-bounds read in the kernel's memory. This vulnerability, exploitable pre-authentication, can lead to the disclosure of sensitive information and potentially a denial of service (DoS) on the affected system.
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux) module. When using TCP Fast Open, SELinux failed to properly check connect-related permissions. This oversight could allow a local attacker to bypass SELinux network access controls, potentially enabling unauthorized network connections that should have been restricted by security policies.
A flaw was found in the Advanced Linux Sound Architecture (ALSA) usx2y driver in the Linux kernel. A local attacker, by opening the hwdep node of an attached US-X2Y device, could exploit an unbounded memory mapping (mmap) fault offset. This allows read-write access to arbitrary kernel memory, potentially leading to a denial of service (kernel crash) or privilege escalation.
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's `scsi: qla2xxx` driver. A remote attacker, by sending a specially crafted Fibre Channel Protocol (FCP) response, could cause an integer underflow. This underflow leads to an out-of-bounds read when handling sense data, potentially disclosing sensitive memory information from the kernel's heap.
