A flaw was found in FFmpeg's libavcodec library. This out-of-bounds write vulnerability, specifically within the MagicYUV decoder, could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the affected system. In other scenarios, it may lead to a denial-of-service, making the system unavailable.

Threats
Impact Important

A flaw was found in FFmpeg. This vulnerability, stemming from an integer overflow and a subsequent out-of-bounds write during the processing of Common Encryption (CENC) subsample data, could allow a local attacker to potentially trigger information disclosure, data corruption, or a denial of service.

CWE-787 - Out-of-bounds Write
Affected products
Fixed 2 products, the same list as for CVE-2026-8461
Threats
Impact Moderate

A flaw was found in OpenSSH. A malicious SSH server can exploit a double free vulnerability in the Diffie-Hellman Group Exchange (DH-GEX) client path. This occurs during FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standards) mode known-group validation when the client processes attacker-controlled DH-GEX group parameters. Successful exploitation leads to client-side process termination, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS).

CWE-415 - Double Free
Affected products
Fixed 2 products, the same list as for CVE-2026-8461
Threats
Impact Moderate

A flaw was found in OpenSSH. A local unprivileged attacker on a Linux client host can hijack client-side X11 forwarding connections. This is possible by pre-binding the preferred abstract X socket name when X11 forwarding is enabled and a local UNIX-domain X socket is used. A successful attack can compromise the confidentiality of forwarded X11 traffic, including sensitive window contents and input, and may allow some manipulation of the forwarded session.

CWE-923 - Improper Restriction of Communication Channel to Intended Endpoints
Affected products
Fixed 2 products, the same list as for CVE-2026-8461
Threats
Impact Moderate

A flaw was found in OpenSSH. The `sftp` client, when used to download files from a malicious server with the 'sftp server:/path .' command, does not properly restrict where those files are saved. This allows an attacker to control the download location, potentially overwriting existing files or placing malicious files in sensitive directories on the client system, which could compromise system integrity.

CWE-22 - Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal')
Affected products
Fixed 2 products, the same list as for CVE-2026-8461
Threats
Impact Moderate

A flaw was found in OpenSSH, a widely used tool for secure remote access. When a user attempts to copy files between two different remote systems using the `scp` command, the file might be incorrectly placed in a directory above the intended destination. This unintended file placement could lead to data integrity issues or, in some cases, unauthorized access to sensitive information if files are stored in an exposed location.

CWE-22 - Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal')
Affected products
Fixed 2 products, the same list as for CVE-2026-8461
Threats
Impact Moderate

A flaw was found in `sshd`, the OpenSSH server daemon. When `DisableForwarding=yes` is configured to prevent network traffic forwarding, it incorrectly fails to take precedence over `PermitTunnel=yes`. This allows a remote attacker to bypass intended security restrictions and establish a tunnel, potentially leading to unauthorized network access or circumvention of security policies, even when forwarding is explicitly disabled.

CWE-358 - Improperly Implemented Security Check for Standard
Affected products
Fixed 2 products, the same list as for CVE-2026-8461
Threats
Impact Important

A flaw was found in OpenSSH's SSH daemon (sshd). A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by repeatedly attempting authentication. The flaw allows the attacker to bypass the intended minimum authentication delay, which can facilitate brute-force attacks. This makes it easier for an attacker to guess valid credentials, potentially leading to unauthorized access or a denial of service.

CWE-307 - Improper Restriction of Excessive Authentication Attempts
Affected products
Fixed 2 products, the same list as for CVE-2026-8461
Threats
Impact Moderate

A flaw was found in FFmpeg, a widely used multimedia framework. This vulnerability, a heap buffer overflow in the VobSub subtitle demuxer, allows a remote attacker to corrupt memory. By providing a specially crafted subtitle file, an attacker can trigger unbounded writes, which could lead to arbitrary code execution in applications that use FFmpeg's VobSub demuxer. This could allow an attacker to take control of the affected system.

CWE-787 - Out-of-bounds Write
Affected products
Fixed 2 products, the same list as for CVE-2026-8461
Threats
Impact Important

A flaw was found in FFmpeg. A remote attacker can exploit an infinite loop vulnerability in the RTP/ASF demuxer by sending a specially crafted stream. This vulnerability occurs because the rtp_asf_fix_header function does not properly validate the size of data chunks, preventing the processing loop from advancing. Successful exploitation leads to CPU exhaustion, causing a Denial of Service (DoS) for legitimate users.

CWE-835 - Loop with Unreachable Exit Condition ('Infinite Loop')
Affected products
Fixed 2 products, the same list as for CVE-2026-8461
Threats
Impact Important

A flaw was found in FFmpeg. A remote attacker can exploit a heap out-of-bounds write vulnerability within the `vf_hqdn3d` filter by providing a specially crafted video file. When filtergraph reinitialization is disabled, the filter allocates undersized memory buffers for video frames. Subsequent larger frames can cause the application to write beyond these allocated boundaries, leading to heap memory corruption. This can result in arbitrary code execution or a denial of service.

CWE-787 - Out-of-bounds Write
Affected products
Fixed 2 products, the same list as for CVE-2026-8461
Threats
Impact Important

A flaw was found in FFmpeg. A remote attacker could exploit a signed integer overflow vulnerability in the MACE6 audio decoder by providing a specially crafted CAF (Core Audio Format) file. This malicious file manipulates the bytes_per_packet value, leading to an undersized memory allocation and a heap out-of-bounds write. This vulnerability could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the affected system.

While it can lead to client process termination, resulting in a denial of service, the impact is limited to availability and does not result in broader system compromise. In order to exploit this vulnerability the attacker needs to trick the user to connect to an untrusted malicious server or compromise the server first. Changes to `ssh_config` will take effect for new SSH connections.",

Drag nodes to arrange them. Double-click a related vulnerability to open it, or a source to visit its link. The Physics button on the left tunes the layout and the simulation; the legend at the bottom left hides or shows nodes by kind and by sighting type.

Forecast uses a logistic model when the trend is rising, or an exponential decay model when the trend is falling. Fitted via linearized least squares.

Vulnerabilities whose description is nearest to this one in the vector space of the CIRCL/vulnerability-attack-technique-biencoder model. This is a similarity search over the bi-encoder space (plain cosine), not a classification, and it has no measured accuracy.
