    Title
electerm's RDP clipboard file download may parse unsafe file name
    Summary
electerm is an open-sourced terminal/ssh/sftp/telnet/serialport/RDP/VNC/Spice/ftp client. Prior to 3.15.120, electerm allows a malicious RDP server to write attacker-controlled content outside the selected save directory because the RDP clipboard download path in src/client/components/rdp/file-transfer.js passes the server-controlled CLIPRDR filename fileInfo.name to osResolve without sanitization. This issue is fixed in version 3.15.120.

    Title
Electerm WebSocket `upgrade-func` and `fs` handlers allow arbitrary method/function invocation due to missing method-name allowlist
    Summary
electerm is an open-sourced terminal/ssh/sftp/telnet/serialport/RDP/VNC/Spice/ftp client. Prior to 3.15.186, electerm allows an authenticated WebSocket client to invoke unintended internal functions through client-controlled func values in upgrade-func in src/app/server/dispatch-center.js and handleFs in src/app/server/fs.js, exposing Upgrade and fsExport methods that can execute commands, open files, mutate the filesystem, or terminate the process. This issue is fixed in version 3.15.186.

    Title
electerm: Path traversal in FTP/SFTP recursive folder download via unsanitized server filename
    Summary
electerm is an open-sourced terminal/ssh/sftp/telnet/serialport/RDP/VNC/Spice/ftp client. Prior to 3.15.120, electerm allows a malicious FTP or SFTP server to write attacker-controlled content outside the selected download directory because recursive transfers in src/client/components/file-transfer/transfer.jsx pass server-supplied file.name and folder.name values to resolve without sanitization. This issue is fixed in version 3.15.120.

    Title
Electerm check folder size function may get attacked by unsafe folder name
    Summary
electerm is an open-sourced terminal/ssh/sftp/telnet/serialport/RDP/VNC/Spice/ftp client. Prior to 3.15.120, electerm allows a malicious FTP or SFTP server to execute arbitrary commands when a user downloads a crafted folder and invokes Properties and Calculate Size because calcLocal in src/client/components/sftp/file-info-modal.jsx inserts the server-controlled folder name into a du -sh shell command without safely escaping single quotes. This issue is fixed in version 3.15.120.

    Title
electerm: Path traversal in editWithSystemEditor temp file path via unsanitized SFTP filename
    Summary
electerm is an open-sourced terminal/ssh/sftp/telnet/serialport/RDP/VNC/Spice/ftp client. Prior to 3.15.120, electerm allows a malicious SFTP server to write attacker-controlled content outside the temporary directory because the server-controlled filename name used by editWithSystemEditor in src/client/components/sftp/file-item.jsx is interpolated into path.resolve without sanitization. Title
electerm's encrypt method not safe enough
    Summary
electerm is an open-sourced terminal/ssh/sftp/telnet/serialport/RDP/VNC/Spice/ftp client. Prior to 3.9.5, deterministic AES-192-CBC with a fixed zero IV, constant KDF salt, and no MAC leads to confidentiality and integrity failures for synced bookmark/profile data. Attackers can crack common passwords across installs and perform undetected ciphertext bit-flips to alter config/bookmarks. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.9.5.

    Title
electerm: Import unsafe bookmark data could lead to unsafe operation when click local type bookmark
    Summary
electerm is an open-sourced terminal/ssh/sftp/telnet/serialport/RDP/VNC/Spice/ftp client. In 3.8.8 and earlier, there is persistent local-pty code execution via imported bookmarks or compromised sync targets. Affects users who import bookmark JSON files or who have electerm sync configured (gist/WebDAV). The attacker can inject exec* fields or global config to cause remote code to run when a bookmark is opened or when sync is applied.

    Vulnerability from nvd – Published: 2026-05-08 02:55 – Updated: 2026-05-08 14:44

    Title
electerm: RCE via malicious SSH server filename in openFileWithEditor
    Summary
electerm is an open-sourced terminal/ssh/sftp/telnet/serialport/RDP/VNC/Spice/ftp client. Prior to version 3.7.9, a code execution (RCE) vulnerability exists in electerm's SFTP open with system editor or "Edit with custom editor" feature. When a user opts to edit a file using open with system editor or open with a custom editor, the filename is passed directly into a command line without sanitization. A malicious actor controlling the SSH server or user OS can exploit this by crafting a filename containing shell metacharacters. If a victim subsequently attempts to edit this file, the injected commands are executed on their machine with the user's privileges. This could allow the attacker to run arbitrary code, install malware, or move laterally within the network. This issue has been patched in version 3.7.9.

Prior to version 3.7.9, a code execution (RCE) vulnerability exists in electerm\u0027s SFTP open with system editor or \"Edit with custom editor\" feature. When a user opts to edit a file using open with system editor or open with a custom editor, the filename is passed directly into a command line without sanitization. A malicious actor controlling the SSH server or user OS can exploit this by crafting a filename containing shell metacharacters. If a victim subsequently attempts to edit this file, the injected commands are executed on their machine with the user\u0027s privileges. This could allow the attacker to run arbitrary code, install malware, or move laterally within the network. This issue has been patched in version 3.7.9."

    CVE-2026-43942 (GCVE-0-2026-43942)

    Vulnerability from nvd – Published: 2026-05-08 03:03 – Updated: 2026-05-08 23:09
    VLAI
    Title
electerm: Full process.env exposed to renderer via window.pre.env in electerm
    Summary
electerm is an open-sourced terminal/ssh/sftp/telnet/serialport/RDP/VNC/Spice/ftp client. In versions 3.8.15 and prior, the getConstants() IPC handler in src/app/lib/ipc-sync.js serialises the entire process.env object and sends it to the renderer. The data is stored as window.pre.env and is accessible from any JavaScript running in the renderer (e.g., via the DevTools console or a compromised webview context). An attacker who achieves any JavaScript execution within the renderer can trivially exfiltrate these secrets to a remote server, leading to cloud account compromise, supply chain attacks, and lateral movement. At time of publication, there are no publicly available patches.

    Title
Unvalidated shell.openExternal in electerm allows arbitrary protocol execution via terminal link click
    Summary
electerm is an open-sourced terminal/ssh/sftp/telnet/serialport/RDP/VNC/Spice/ftp client. In versions 3.8.15 and prior, Electerm's terminal hyperlink handler passes any URL clicked in the terminal directly to shell.openExternal without any protocol validation. An attacker who controls terminal output (e.g., via a malicious SSH server, compromised remote host, or malicious plugin rendering terminal content) can thus achieve arbitrary code execution or local file access on the victim's machine, requiring only that the victim clicks a displayed link. At time of publication, there are no publicly available patches.

    Title
electerm: Path traversal in electerm runWidget leads to arbitrary code execution
    Summary
electerm is an open-sourced terminal/ssh/sftp/telnet/serialport/RDP/VNC/Spice/ftp client. Prior to version 3.7.16, the runWidget function in src/app/widgets/load-widget.js constructs a file path by directly concatenating user‑supplied widget identifiers without any sanitisation. Because runWidget is exposed to the renderer process via an asynchronous IPC handler with no input validation, an attacker who achieves JavaScript execution inside the renderer (for example, through a malicious plugin or a cross‑site scripting flaw in the built‑in webview) can abuse a path traversal (../) to load and execute an arbitrary JavaScript file anywhere on the victim’s filesystem. This gives the attacker local code execution with the full privileges of the electerm process, leading to complete system compromise. This issue has been patched in version 3.7.16.

    Title
electerm has Command Injection Vulnerability via runMac function
    Summary
electerm is an open-sourced terminal/ssh/sftp/telnet/serialport/RDP/VNC/Spice/ftp client. Prior to version 3.3.8, a command injection vulnerability exists in github.com/elcterm/electerm/npm/install.js:150. The runMac() function appends attacker-controlled remote releaseInfo.name directly into an exec("open ...") command without validation. This issue has been patched in version 3.3.8.

    Title
electerm's RDP clipboard file download may parse unsafe file name
    Summary
electerm is an open-sourced terminal/ssh/sftp/telnet/serialport/RDP/VNC/Spice/ftp client.

This issue is fixed in version 3.15.120.

    Title
electerm: Import unsafe bookmark data could lead to unsafe operation when click local type bookmark
    Summary
electerm is an open-sourced terminal/ssh/sftp/telnet/serialport/RDP/VNC/Spice/ftp client.

    Title
electerm's encrypt method not safe enough
    Summary
electerm is an open-sourced terminal/ssh/sftp/telnet/serialport/RDP/VNC/Spice/ftp client.

    Title
electerm: Full process.env exposed to renderer via window.pre.env in electerm
    Summary
electerm is an open-sourced terminal/ssh/sftp/telnet/serialport/RDP/VNC/Spice/ftp client.

    Title
electerm: RCE via malicious SSH server filename in openFileWithEditor
    Summary
electerm is an open-sourced terminal/ssh/sftp/telnet/serialport/RDP/VNC/Spice/ftp client.
