Title
[0day-rubbish] Lightstreamer Server 7.4.8 Unauthenticated JMX jvmtiAgentLoad native code execution (8.1)
Summary
0day Rubbish Research Team is publicly disclosing a vulnerability in Lightstreamer Server 7.4.8 build 3506 (with JMS Extender 2.1.0). Type: unauthenticated JMX inspection console allowing an anonymous caller to invoke any MBean operation, reaching jvmtiAgentLoad on com.sun.management:type=DiagnosticCommand to load and run a native agent library inside the broker JVM (CWE-306, CWE-345, CWE-20, CWE-250, CWE-1188) Scoring. This finding is dual-scored on one documented delivery precondition, and both figures are published rather than a single headline number: - PRIMARY, 8.1 High, CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H. This is the conservative figure for an attacker with network access only: the agent library must be delivered to a filesystem path by means outside this endpoint. - CONDITIONAL, 9.8 Critical, CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H. This is the shipped-default exposure where the precondition is ALREADY satisfied, that is a native shared object is already reachable at a filesystem path the attacker names. Exploitation is then one deterministic HTTP request. The 9.8 figure is conditional, not the primary rating, and is not the headline. Impact: native code execution inside the Lightstreamer JVM as the service process, inheriting that process's full identity. In the verified deployment the process ran as uid=0(root), so the executed commands ran as root; root is not claimed to be a factory-mandated identity, it is whatever account launched the service. The shipping configuration sets <jmxtree_enabled>Y</jmxtree_enabled> and <dashboard><public>Y</public> even though the adjacent comments claim the default is N, and the only remaining check is a Referer header matching the target host, which any HTTP client forges. Authentication: unauthenticated (no credential of any kind). Verification boundary, stated plainly. We verified the MBean-invocation and native-code-execution legs against a research-host deployment reached over loopback (HTTP 200 with "return code: 0", marker files recording uid=0(root), and id/whoami commands chosen by the HTTP client at send time). The native agent library, however, was already present on disk, placed beforehand over an authenticated root session. jvmtiAgentLoad takes a filesystem path and fetches nothing (http:// and file:// were both treated as literal strings), so the fully remote chain including payload delivery is NOT demonstrated by this advisory; what is proven unauthenticated is the request leg, not the delivery leg. Full technical analysis and a reproducible proof-of-concept: https://0day-rubbish.com/blog/lightstreamer-unauth-jmx-jvmti-agentload-rce Project archive (ongoing disclosure series): https://github.com/Exploit-Garbage/0day-Rubbish The vendor has been notified through its published security contact. Title
[NotCVE-2026-0015] Input Leap through 3.0.3 input-leapd Unauthenticated IPC Command Execution Allows Local Privilege Escalation to SYSTEM
Summary
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- NotCVE Advisory — NotCVE-2026-0015 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- [-] Summary: Missing authentication for a critical function in the input-leapd daemon of Input Leap, the open-source keyboard and mouse sharing tool, allows a local, low-privileged user on Windows to execute arbitrary commands as NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM by sending a single IPC command message to the daemon's unauthenticated listener on 127.0.0.1:24801. The command persists and runs again after a service restart or reboot. CVSS:3.1 7.8 (AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H). [-] Affected: Input Leap on Windows from v2.4.0 through 3.0.3 (the final release), where input-leapd is registered as a service. The input-leap/input-leap repository was archived read-only on 26 July 2026; no fixed version exists or is expected. [-] Technical Description: IpcServer::listen() binds a TCPListenSocket to 127.0.0.1:24801 (IPC_HOST and IPC_PORT in src/lib/ipc/Ipc.h). IpcServer::handle_client_connecting() accepts the socket and wraps it in an IpcClientProxy with no check of the peer's identity, session or integrity level; the only thing that tells clients apart is the type each one declares for itself in the kIpcMsgHello handshake. IpcClientProxy::parseCommand() reads a length-prefixed command string and a trailing one-byte elevate flag from the stream, and DaemonApp::handle_ipc_message() passes both to the watchdog unchanged: m_watchdog->setCommand(command, cm.elevate()); There is no allowlist, no check that the command is an Input Leap binary, and no authorisation check on the elevate flag. With the flag set, MSWindowsWatchdog::getUserToken() locates winlogon.exe, duplicates its primary token (OpenProcessToken, DuplicateTokenEx) and the watchdog calls CreateProcessAsUser() with the attacker's command line. winlogon.exe runs as NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM, so the new process does too. handle_ipc_message() also stores the input with ARCH->setting("Command") and ARCH->setting("Elevate"). DaemonApp::mainLoop() reads both back at daemon start ("using last known command") and calls setCommand() again, so the command is re-executed as SYSTEM after a restart or reboot without further action by the attacker. Preconditions: the input-leapd service is installed; beyond that, only local code execution under any account. ArchDaemonWindows::installDaemon() registers the service with SERVICE_AUTO_START as LocalSystem, the listener is opened unconditionally, and no administrative rights, file write or desktop session are needed. The sibling project Deskflow fixed the equivalent defect in 1.26.0.161 (CVE-2026-41477); that fix does not apply to Input Leap, which uses a TCP socket rather than a named pipe and so has no ACL on the endpoint. The same class of defect in the ancestor Barrier 2.4.0 is NotCVE-2026-0010. Mitigation until a fork ships a fix: stop and disable the input-leapd service on hosts where Input Leap is not in use. Weaknesses: CWE-306: Missing Authentication for Critical Function CWE-862: Missing Authorization CAPEC-69: Target Programs with Elevated Privileges [-] Credit: Reported by Christopher Duram (https://www.linkedin.com/in/christopherduram/). Mitigation
Architecture and Design
  • Divide the software into anonymous, normal, privileged, and administrative areas. Identify which of these areas require a proven user identity, and use a centralized authentication capability.
  • Identify all potential communication channels, or other means of interaction with the software, to ensure that all channels are appropriately protected, including those channels that are assumed to be accessible only by authorized parties. Developers sometimes perform authentication at the primary channel, but open up a secondary channel that is assumed to be private. For example, a login mechanism may be listening on one network port, but after successful authentication, it may open up a second port where it waits for the connection, but avoids authentication because it assumes that only the authenticated party will connect to the port.
  • In general, if the software or protocol allows a single session or user state to persist across multiple connections or channels, authentication and appropriate credential management need to be used throughout.
Mitigation MIT-15
Architecture and Design

For any security checks that are performed on the client side, ensure that these checks are duplicated on the server side, in order to avoid CWE-602. Attackers can bypass the client-side checks by modifying values after the checks have been performed, or by changing the client to remove the client-side checks entirely. Then, these modified values would be submitted to the server.

Mitigation
Architecture and Design
  • Where possible, avoid implementing custom, "grow-your-own" authentication routines and consider using authentication capabilities as provided by the surrounding framework, operating system, or environment. These capabilities may avoid common weaknesses that are unique to authentication; support automatic auditing and tracking; and make it easier to provide a clear separation between authentication tasks and authorization tasks.
  • In environments such as the World Wide Web, the line between authentication and authorization is sometimes blurred. If custom authentication routines are required instead of those provided by the server, then these routines must be applied to every single page, since these pages could be requested directly.
Mitigation MIT-4.5
Architecture and Design

Strategy: Libraries or Frameworks

  • Use a vetted library or framework that does not allow this weakness to occur or provides constructs that make this weakness easier to avoid.
  • For example, consider using libraries with authentication capabilities such as OpenSSL or the ESAPI Authenticator [REF-45].
Mitigation
Implementation System Configuration Operation

When storing data in the cloud (e.g., S3 buckets, Azure blobs, Google Cloud Storage, etc.), use the provider's controls to require strong authentication for users who should be allowed to access the data [REF-1297] [REF-1298] [REF-1302].

CAPEC-12: Choosing Message Identifier

This pattern of attack is defined by the selection of messages distributed via multicast or public information channels that are intended for another client by determining the parameter value assigned to that client. This attack allows the adversary to gain access to potentially privileged information, and to possibly perpetrate other attacks through the distribution means by impersonation. If the channel/message being manipulated is an input rather than output mechanism for the system, (such as a command bus), this style of attack could be used to change the adversary's identifier to more a privileged one.

CAPEC-166: Force the System to Reset Values

An attacker forces the target into a previous state in order to leverage potential weaknesses in the target dependent upon a prior configuration or state-dependent factors. Even in cases where an attacker may not be able to directly control the configuration of the targeted application, they may be able to reset the configuration to a prior state since many applications implement reset functions.

CAPEC-216: Communication Channel Manipulation

An adversary manipulates a setting or parameter on communications channel in order to compromise its security. This can result in information exposure, insertion/removal of information from the communications stream, and/or potentially system compromise.

CAPEC-36: Using Unpublished Interfaces or Functionality

An adversary searches for and invokes interfaces or functionality that the target system designers did not intend to be publicly available. If interfaces fail to authenticate requests, the attacker may be able to invoke functionality they are not authorized for.

CAPEC-62: Cross Site Request Forgery

An attacker crafts malicious web links and distributes them (via web pages, email, etc.), typically in a targeted manner, hoping to induce users to click on the link and execute the malicious action against some third-party application. If successful, the action embedded in the malicious link will be processed and accepted by the targeted application with the users' privilege level. This type of attack leverages the persistence and implicit trust placed in user session cookies by many web applications today. In such an architecture, once the user authenticates to an application and a session cookie is created on the user's system, all following transactions for that session are authenticated using that cookie including potential actions initiated by an attacker and simply "riding" the existing session cookie.
