Title
python-dotenv: Symlink following in set_key allows arbitrary file overwrite via cross-device rename fallback
Summary
python-dotenv reads key-value pairs from a .env file and can set them as environment variables. Prior to version 1.2.2, `set_key()` and `unset_key()` in python-dotenv follow symbolic links when rewriting `.env` files, allowing a local attacker to overwrite arbitrary files via a crafted symlink when a cross-device rename fallback is triggered. Users should upgrade to v.1.2.2 or, as a workaround, apply the patch manually.

Title
Black's vulnerable version parsing leads to RCE in GitHub Action
Summary
Black is the uncompromising Python code formatter. Black provides a GitHub action for formatting code. This action supports an option, use_pyproject: true, for reading the version of Black to use from the repository pyproject.toml. A malicious pull request could edit pyproject.toml to use a direct URL reference to a malicious repository. This could lead to arbitrary code execution in the context of the GitHub Action. Attackers could then gain access to secrets or permissions available in the context of the action. Version 26.3.0 fixes this vulnerability.

Title
Black: Arbitrary file writes from unsanitized user input in cache file name
Summary
Black is the uncompromising Python code formatter. Starting in version 24.3.0 and prior to version 26.3.1, Black writes a cache file, the name of which is computed from various formatting options. The value of the --python-cell-magics option was placed in the filename without sanitization, which allowed an attacker who controls the value of this argument to write cache files to arbitrary file system locations. Fixed in Black 26.3.1.

Title
cryptography has incomplete DNS name constraint enforcement on peer names
Summary
cryptography is a package designed to expose cryptographic primitives and recipes to Python developers. Prior to version 46.0.6, DNS name constraints were only validated against SANs within child certificates, and not the "peer name" presented during each validation. Consequently, cryptography would allow a peer named bar.example.com to validate against a wildcard leaf certificate for *.example.com, even if the leaf's parent certificate (or upwards) contained an excluded subtree constraint for bar.example.com. This issue has been patched in version 46.0.6.

Title
Heap Buffer Over-read in ASN.1 Content Parsing
Summary
Issue summary: Parsing a crafted DER-encoded ASN.1 structure with a primitive
element whose content exceeds 2 gigabytes in length may cause a heap buffer
over-read on 64-bit Unix and Unix-like platforms.
Impact summary: The heap buffer over-read may crash the application (Denial of
Service) or to load into the decoded ASN.1 object contents of memory beyond the
end of the input buffer. More typically such ASN.1 elements would instead be
truncated.
An integer truncation in OpenSSL's ASN.1 decoder causes the content length of
an ASN.1 primitive element to be mishandled when it exceeds 2 gigabytes. In the
worst case the truncated length is treated as a request to scan the binary
content for a terminating zero byte, possibly causing OpenSSL to read either
less than or beyond the end of the allocated buffer.
Applications that pass attacker-supplied data to d2i_X509(), d2i_PKCS7(), or
any other d2i_* decoding function are affected. OpenSSL's own command-line
tools are not vulnerable, as data read through the BIO layer is checked before
it reaches the affected code. The issue only affects 64-bit Unix and Unix-like
platforms; 32-bit platforms and 64-bit Windows are not affected.
The FIPS modules in 4.0, 3.6, 3.5, 3.4 and 3.0 are not affected by this issue,
as the affected code is outside the OpenSSL FIPS module boundary.
