Title
NanaZip: Unbounded memory allocation (DoS) in NanaZip UFS parser via unvalidated fs_bsize/fs_fsize superblock fields
Summary
NanaZip is the 7-Zip derivative intended for the modern Windows experience. Prior to 6.5.1749.0, NanaZip's UFS and FFS image handler in NanaZip.Codecs.Archive.Ufs.cpp validates the superblock block size only against the MINBSIZE lower bound and does not validate the fs_fsize fragment size, allowing attacker-controlled 32-bit fields to flow into indirect-block, directory, and extraction buffer allocations. A tiny crafted UFS image can force multi-gigabyte allocations during open or extraction, causing memory exhaustion or process termination. This issue is fixed in version 6.5.1749.0.

Title
GoAccess WebSocket Server: Signed 32 bit truncation of the 64 bit frame length causes a remote pre-authentication denial of service
Summary
GoAccess is a real-time web log analyzer and interactive viewer that runs in a terminal in *nix systems or through the browser. Prior to version 1.11, the built-in WebSocket server narrows a 64-bit extended frame length into the signed 32-bit WSFrame.payloadlen field before enforcing the maximum frame size, allowing an unauthenticated remote client to bypass the guard and force an approximately 18-exabyte allocation request that terminates the process. This issue is fixed in version 1.11.

Title
Buffa: Memory Exhaustion Denial of Service in decode_unknown_field via Unbounded Allocation
Summary
Buffa is a pure-Rust Protocol Buffers implementation with first-class protobuf editions support. Prior to 0.8.0, the decode_unknown_field function in buffa's protobuf decoder allocated heap memory in proportion to untrusted input (unknown fields in the serialized protobuf) without enforcing an allocation budget, affecting any message decoded from untrusted input using code generated with preserve_unknown_fields=true (the default); a small, well-formed payload of nested unknown fields inside a StartGroup could trigger roughly 22x memory amplification (for example a 64 MiB input forcing about 1.4 GB of heap allocation), and length-delimited unknown fields could be sized arbitrarily, so an unauthenticated attacker could crash a process through memory exhaustion because the top-level message size cap did not account for in-decode amplification. This issue is fixed in version 0.8.0.

Prior to 0.8.0, the decode_unknown_field function in buffa\u0027s protobuf decoder allocated heap memory in proportion to untrusted input (unknown fields in the serialized protobuf) without enforcing an allocation budget, affecting any message decoded from untrusted input using code generated with preserve_unknown_fields=true (the default); a small, well-formed payload of nested unknown fields inside a StartGroup could trigger roughly 22x memory amplification (for example a 64 MiB input forcing about 1.4 GB of heap allocation), and length-delimited unknown fields could be sized arbitrarily, so an unauthenticated attacker could crash a process through memory exhaustion because the top-level message size cap did not account for in-decode amplification. This issue is fixed in version 0.8.0."

Title
Pillow GdImageFile decompression bomb protection bypass
Summary
Pillow is a Python imaging library. Prior to 12.3.0, PIL/GdImageFile.py GdImageFile._open() read image dimensions from the GD 2.x header and stored them in self._size without calling Image._decompression_bomb_check(), allowing a crafted .gd file to trigger excessive C-heap allocation when loaded. This issue is fixed in version 12.3.0.

Title
Pillow BdfFontFile`: `Image.new()` called without `_decompression_bomb_check()` — bomb protection bypass via font loading
Summary
Pillow is a Python imaging library. Prior to 12.3.0, PIL/BdfFontFile.py bdf_char() read the BBX width and height field from a BDF font file and passed attacker-controlled dimensions to Image.new() without calling Image._decompression_bomb_check(), bypassing Pillow's documented decompression bomb protection and allowing excessive memory allocation. This issue is fixed in version 12.3.0.

Title
h2o: musl libc stack overflow (QPACK)
Summary
h2o is an HTTP server with support for HTTP/1.x, HTTP/2 and HTTP/3. Prior to commit edd7a120bfc4af11ac0cbebce2a43cc1f93f9af1, when h2o processes a QPACK instruction sent from the peer over HTTP/3, lib/http3/qpack.c might allocate an on-stack buffer as large as approximately 800 KB by calling alloca, which exceeds the default pthread stack size used by musl libc and causes the h2o server to crash with a segmentation fault while touching the guard page. This issue is fixed in commit edd7a120bfc4af11ac0cbebce2a43cc1f93f9af1.

Title
Coder's unbounded memory allocation in provisioner file upload allows authenticated denial of service
Summary
Coder allows organizations to provision remote development environments via Terraform. Starting in version 2.24.0 and prior to versions 2.29.7, 2.32.7, 2.33.8, and 2.34.2, `NewDataBuilder` in `provisionersdk/proto/dataupload.go` allocated a byte slice using the client-supplied `FileSize` from a `DataUpload` message without an upper-bound check. Although the DRPC wire limit is 4 MiB, the `FileSize` value itself was unconstrained. The fix in versions 2.29.7, 2.32.7, 2.33.8, and 2.34.2 validates `FileSize` against an upper bound (`MaxFileSize = 100 MiB`) before allocation. As a workaround, restrict access to the provisioner daemon serve endpoint to trusted provisioner daemon service accounts.

Title
BEAM VM crash via integer underflow in binary_to_term BIT_BINARY_EXT decoding
Summary
Integer Underflow (Wrap or Wraparound) vulnerability in erlang otp erlang/otp (erts modules), erlang otp erts (erts modules) allows Forced Integer Overflow, Excessive Allocation. This vulnerability is associated with program files erts/emulator/beam/external.c, emulator/beam/external.c. The BIT_BINARY_EXT tag (77) handler in the External Term Format (ETF) decoder accepts an encoding with both length and trailing-bits fields set to zero. The subsequent computation of the bitstring size underflows an unsigned integer, producing a value of roughly 2^64 that is then passed as a memory allocation size. The allocator aborts the entire node with a message such as "Cannot allocate 2305843009213693951 bytes of memory (of type binary)". The crash is a VM-level abort, not an Erlang-level exception. It cannot be intercepted by supervision trees, by try/catch, or by passing the [safe] option to binary_to_term/2 (which only restricts atom creation and does not perform structural validation of binary encodings). Any application that decodes ETF from untrusted sources via binary_to_term/1,2 or enif_binary_to_term() is exposed. The Erlang distribution protocol also decodes incoming terms through the same code path, but distribution is expected to run on trusted networks per the OTP Secure Coding Guidelines (DSG-011). This issue affects OTP from OTP 27.0 before OTP 29.0.4, OTP 28.5.0.4 and OTP 27.3.4.15, corresponding to erts from 15.0 before 17.0.4, 16.4.0.4 and 15.2.7.11.

Prior to 0.145.1, proto.UnencryptedMessage.Decode in proto/unencrypted_message.go read attacker controlled dataLen from an unauthenticated MTProto unencrypted packet and allocated make([]byte, dataLen) before checking the remaining buffer, allowing remote unauthenticated denial of service through excessive memory allocation and CPU or garbage collection pressure. This issue is fixed in version 0.145.1.

CVE-2026-54448 (GCVE-0-2026-54448)

Vulnerability from cvelistv5 – Published: 2026-06-25 16:27 – Updated: 2026-06-25 18:55
VLAI
Title
Trivy: Helm chart tar bomb causes OOM via unbounded io.ReadAll in parser
Summary
Trivy is a security scanner. Prior to 0.71.0, when Trivy scans a Helm chart archive (.tgz), its custom tar unpacker reads each entry with io.ReadAll(tr) and no size limit. An attacker who can place a malicious .tgz file in the scanned path can craft a small compressed archive that decompresses to gigabytes, causing the Trivy process to be killed by the OS OOM killer. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.71.0.

Mitigation
Implementation Architecture and Design

Perform adequate input validation against any value that influences the amount of memory that is allocated. Define an appropriate strategy for handling requests that exceed the limit, and consider supporting a configuration option so that the administrator can extend the amount of memory to be used if necessary.

Mitigation
Operation

Run your program using system-provided resource limits for memory. This might still cause the program to crash or exit, but the impact to the rest of the system will be minimized.
