Vulnerability from csaf_opensuse - Published: 2026-10-12 03:09 - Updated: 2026-10-22 21:07
Summary
Red Hat Security Advisory: jackson-core, jackson-databind, jackson-jaxrs-providers, and jackson-modules-base security update
Severity
Important
Notes
Topic: An update for multiple packages is now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9. Red Hat Product Security has rated this update as having a security impact of Important. A Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) base score, which gives a detailed severity rating, is available for each vulnerability from the CVE link(s) in the References section.
Details: This is a multi-module project that contains Jackson-based JAX-RS providers for following data formats: JSON, Smile (binary JSON), XML, CBOR (another kind of binary JSON), YAML. Security Fix(es): * com.fasterxml.jackson.core/jackson-databind: tools.jackson.core/jackson-databind: jackson-databind: CPU Denial of Service via unbounded numeric parsing (CVE-2026-68497) For more details about the security issue(s), including the impact, a CVSS score, acknowledgments, and other related information, refer to the CVE page(s) listed in the References section.

A flaw was found in jackson-databind. An unauthenticated attacker can trigger a denial of service (DoS) by exploiting an unbounded numeric parse vulnerability. This occurs during the deserialization of `javax.xml.datatype.Duration` or `javax.xml.datatype.XMLGregorianCalendar` fields from JSON strings, where the system processes arbitrarily long numeric components. This can lead to high CPU utilization, potentially saturating server worker threads and making the service unavailable.

Drag nodes to arrange them. Double-click a related vulnerability to open it, or a source to visit its link. The Physics button on the left tunes the layout and the simulation; the legend at the bottom left hides or shows nodes by kind and by sighting type.

Forecast uses a logistic model when the trend is rising, or an exponential decay model when the trend is falling. Fitted via linearized least squares.

    Related by attack behaviour

Vulnerabilities whose description is nearest to this one in the vector space of the CIRCL/vulnerability-attack-technique-biencoder model. This is a similarity search over the bi-encoder space (plain cosine), not a classification, and it has no measured accuracy.
