GHSA-J72W-P49P-CJQQ
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-08-28 09:31 – Updated: 2026-08-29 09:30
VLAI
Details
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
batman-adv: dat: ensure accessible eth_hdr proto field
When batadv_get_vid() accesses the proto field of the ethernet header, it is not checking if the data itself is accessible. The caller is responsible for it. But in contrast to other call sites, batadv_dat_get_vid() and its caller didn't make sure this is true. This could have caused an out-of-bounds access.
Severity
8.1 (High)

The MITRE ATT&CK techniques below are AI-generated suggestions, inferred from the description of the
vulnerability by the CIRCL/vulnerability-attack-technique-classification-roberta-base
model, served locally by ML-Gateway.
They have not been verified by an analyst and are provided for guidance only.
The approach is described in our paper Mapping CVEs to MITRE ATT&CK Techniques: A Curated Gold-Set Classifier and the Limits of LLM-Assisted Label Expansion.
