AV:L - The bug is triggered only from the local tc/rtnetlink configuration path (`sendmsg` on a netlink socket → `tc_new_tfilter` → `mlx5e_configure_flower` → `mlx5e_tc_action_miss_mapping_get`); no remote packet or peer data reaches the vulnerable code, which lives entirely in the flow-rule *insertion* path rather than the RX path.
AC:L - A single deterministic `tc filter add ... flower ... action ct` on an mlx5 netdev in the default nic/legacy eswitch mode hits the stale `esw->offloads` pointers every time — there is no race, no timing window, and the switchdev→legacy transition that turns this into a full slab UAF is itself a devlink operation the same actor performs, so every precondition is attacker-controlled.
PR:L - The only gate is `netlink_net_capable(skb, CAP_NET_ADMIN)` in `rtnetlink_rcv_msg`, which checks the capability against the user namespace owning the netns, so an unprivileged user holding CAP_NET_ADMIN in a user/network namespace — or a container given an mlx5 VF/SF netdev via SR-IOV, a routine cloud deployment — can reach it without real root.
UI:N - The attacker adds the tc flower/CT filter itself in a single syscall sequence; no victim action, mount, or second party is involved.
S:U - The corruption is confined to kernel heap objects managed by the same kernel security authority; there is no VM, IOMMU, or hypervisor boundary crossed.
C:H - KASAN confirms an 8-byte read from a freed kmalloc-512 flow table (`find_root()` reading `ft->node.parent`), and the code then chases further pointers out of that freed object — with standard slab grooming this yields an attacker-directed kernel-memory read primitive, not a bounded leak.
I:H - The freed flow table is also written — `nested_down_read_ref_node()` bumps a refcount and takes an rwsem inside freed memory, and `tree_add_node()`/`list_add()` splice new nodes into freed lists — and `add_rule_fte()` performs `root->cmds->create_fte(...)`, an indirect call through a function-pointer table reached from the reclaimable object, giving a control-flow hijack path.
A:H - The reported failure is a KASAN slab-use-after-free that oopses the kernel, and where switchdev was never enabled the same path dereferences a NULL `reg_c0_obj_pool` in `mapping_add()` for a guaranteed panic — either way an unprivileged-namespace actor can crash the host at will."

Related by attack behaviour

Vulnerabilities whose description is nearest to this one in the vector space of the CIRCL/vulnerability-attack-technique-biencoder model. This is a similarity search over the bi-encoder space (plain cosine), not a classification, and it has no measured accuracy.
