Title
Buffer overflow in SAML authentication post-back URL handling in libsnowflakeclient and Snowflake PHP PDO Driver
Summary
A stack-based buffer overflow in libsnowflakeclient and the Snowflake PHP PDO Driver could, under specific conditions, result in memory corruption during SAML-based authentication. During a native SSO/SAML login flow, the affected drivers may have copied a value taken from the identity provider's HTML response into a fixed-size memory buffer without first validating the length of that value. An attacker who controlled or had compromised the configured identity provider — or who was able to redirect the SAML single sign-on endpoint to an attacker-controlled server — might have leveraged this by returning an oversized response, potentially resulting in a crash or, in specific circumstances, remote code execution within the context of the application running the library. The fix is available in libsnowflakeclient version 2.11.1 and Snowflake PHP PDO Driver version 4.3.0. Users must manually upgrade.

Title
Missing origin validation for the externalbrowser authenticator callback in multiple Snowflake client drivers
Summary
Multiple Snowflake client drivers implementing the `authenticator=externalbrowser` single sign-on flow could have allowed an attacker to interfere with a user's login attempt through weaknesses in the local loopback callback listener used to receive the identity provider's response. The listener reflected an arbitrary request's Origin header into its CORS response headers and accepted the first token-bearing request it received during the login window without verifying a CSRF state value bound to that specific login attempt. An attacker able to reach the listener during an active login might have leveraged this to submit a forged callback response, causing the authentication attempt to fail. The fix is available in Snowflake Connector for Python 4.8.0, Snowflake Go Driver v2.3.0, Snowflake JDBC Driver 4.4.0 (including the snowflake-jdbc-fips and snowflake-jdbc-thin artifacts), Snowflake Node.js Driver 3.4.0, Snowflake Connector for .NET 6.3.0, Snowflake ODBC Driver 4.0.0, Snowflake PHP PDO Driver 4.3.0, and libsnowflakeclient 2.11.1. Go v1 users must migrate to the latest major version of the module. Users must manually upgrade.

Title
Workload identity attestation generated before login host validation in Snowflake drivers
Summary
In affected Snowflake drivers, WORKLOAD_IDENTITY authentication requests a cloud workload-identity token and attaches it to the login request without verifying that the configured host is a Snowflake endpoint. An attacker who can modify the connection configuration can cause the driver to mint a fresh attestation and send it to a host they control. The captured token can be replayed to Snowflake for its remaining lifetime in accounts where that workload identity is already registered. On Azure, the token audience is also taken from connection configuration. Combined with an attacker-controlled host, the driver can request a Managed Identity access token scoped to a non-Snowflake Azure resource and deliver it to the attacker. That path is the only case in which impact extends beyond Snowflake; it is bounded by the token lifetime and the managed identity’s permissions. Successful exploitation requires WORKLOAD_IDENTITY authentication on a workload that already has an ambient cloud identity. Patched driver versions restrict this authenticator to recognized Snowflake hosts. Users must manually upgrade.

"value": "In affected Snowflake drivers, WORKLOAD_IDENTITY authentication requests a cloud workload-identity token and attaches it to the login request without verifying that the configured host is a Snowflake endpoint. That path is the only case in which impact extends beyond Snowflake; it is bounded by the token lifetime and the managed identity\u2019s permissions. Successful exploitation requires WORKLOAD_IDENTITY authentication on a workload that already has an ambient cloud identity. Patched driver versions restrict this authenticator to recognized Snowflake hosts. Users must manually upgrade."

Title
Multiple Security Vulnerabilities in Snowflake libsnowflakeclient
Summary
Multiple security vulnerabilities in Snowflake libsnowflakeclient versions prior to 2.9.2 could allow remote code execution and credential exfiltration. A stack-based buffer overflow in the file download path could allow remote code execution on a victim host. An attacker could exploit this by uploading a file with a crafted encryption metadata field to a shared internal stage that a victim process later downloads, and impact would be limited to deployments where principals with different privilege levels share the same internal stage. A related out-of-bounds write in the same download path could allow memory corruption with attacker-controlled write primitives. An attacker may exploit this through a crafted initialization vector metadata field on a shared stage, and impact would be limited by the same stage-write precondition. Improper validation of connection parameters could allow an attacker-controlled input to redirect outbound authentication requests — including credentials and tokens — to an attacker-controlled endpoint. Impact is limited to embedding deployments where a lower-privileged principal can influence connection configuration while higher-privileged service credentials are in use. The fix is available in Snowflake libsnowflakeclient version 2.9.2. The Snowflake PHP PDO Driver and Snowflake ODBC Driver embed the affected library; fixes are available in versions 4.1.0 and 3.19.0 respectively. Users must manually upgrade.

"value": "Multiple Snowflake client drivers implementing the `authenticator=externalbrowser` single sign-on flow could have allowed an attacker to interfere with a user\u0027s login attempt through weaknesses in the local loopback callback listener used to receive the identity provider\u0027s response. The listener reflected an arbitrary request\u0027s Origin header into its CORS response headers and accepted the first token-bearing request it received during the login window without verifying a CSRF state value bound to that specific login attempt.

"value": "Multiple security vulnerabilities in Snowflake libsnowflakeclient versions prior to 2.9.2 could allow remote code execution and credential exfiltration. Improper validation of connection parameters could allow an attacker-controlled input to redirect outbound authentication requests \u2014 including credentials and tokens \u2014 to an attacker-controlled endpoint. Users must manually upgrade."
