Improper Neutralization of CRLF Sequences ('CRLF Injection')

Abstraction: Base · Status: Draft

The product uses CRLF (carriage return line feeds) as a special element, e.g. to separate lines or records, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes CRLF sequences from inputs.

Title
WPForms <= 1.10.2 - Improper Neutralization of CRLF Sequences to Unauthenticated Email Header Injection via Reply-To Display Name
Summary
The WPForms – Easy Form Builder for WordPress – Contact Forms, Payment Forms, Surveys, & More plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Improper Neutralization of CRLF Sequences ('CRLF Injection') in all versions up to, and including, 1.10.2 This is due to `get_reply_to_address()` processing the Reply-To display name through smart-tag expansion with context `'notification'` instead of `'notification-reply-to'`, which bypasses email-address validation while `wpforms_sanitize_textarea_field()` intentionally preserves CR/LF characters that are never stripped before the display name is concatenated into the raw `Reply-To:` mail header string. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary additional email headers — such as `Bcc:` — into outgoing notification emails, silently blind-copying all notification email copies to an attacker-controlled address. Exploitation requires that a form notification is configured to use a Paragraph Text (textarea) field as the Reply-To display name via a Smart Tag.

Title
DataDog::DogStatsd versions through 0.07 for Perl allow metric injections from event tags
Summary
DataDog::DogStatsd versions through 0.07 for Perl allow metric injections from event tags. DataDog::DogStatsd does not properly sanitise input, allowing metric injections of data from untrusted sources. The format_event method (used by the event method) does not validate the content of the tags, which may contain commas (allowing tags to be injected) or newlines, pipes and colons that allow metric injections. (There is an ineffective s/|//g to remove pipes, but because the pipe is not escaped, it is interpreted as a regular expression metacharacter and has no effect.)

CVE-2026-9679 (GCVE-0-2026-9679)

Vulnerability from cvelistv5 – Published: 2026-06-17 16:56 – Updated: 2026-06-23 16:12

Title
undici vulnerable to HTTP header injection via Set-Cookie percent-decoding
Summary
Impact: undici's cookie parser in parseSetCookie percent-decodes cookie values via qsUnescape, turning encoded sequences like %0D%0A, %00, %3B, and %3D into their literal byte equivalents. RFC 6265 §5.4 does not specify any decoding and browsers do not decode either. Applications that parse a Set-Cookie header and then forward the parsed value into a response header (proxies, middleware, SSR frameworks) become vulnerable to HTTP response header injection: an attacker-controlled upstream can inject arbitrary Set-Cookie, Location, or Cache-Control headers into the application's downstream response, enabling session fixation, open redirect, or cache poisoning. Affected applications are those that use undici's cookie parsing (parseSetCookie, parseCookie, getSetCookies) and forward the parsed cookie value into a response header. This was introduced in undici 7.0.0 via PR #3789. Patches: Upgrade to undici v6.26.0, v7.28.0 or v8.5.0. Workarounds: If upgrade is not immediately possible, do not forward values returned by parseSetCookie/parseCookie/getSetCookies directly into response headers; sanitize the value first to strip or reject CR, LF, NUL, ;, and = bytes.

Title
DataDog::DogStatsd versions through 0.07 for Perl allow metric injections
Summary
DataDog::DogStatsd versions through 0.07 for Perl allow metric injections. DataDog::DogStatsd does not properly sanitise input, allowing metric injections of data from untrusted sources. The send_stats method does not remove newlines from metric names ($stat variable), allowing attackers to change the metric name prefix. The send_stats method does not validate the content of the value ($delta variable), allowing attackers to inject metrics, especially from methods that do not restrict the data type for the value, such as set, gauge, count and histogram. The send_stats method does not validate the content of the tags, which may contain newlines, pipes and colons that allow metric injections. Note that the SYNOPSIS shows an example of passing a website form "loginName" parameter as a tag, which is unsafe.

Title
Net::Statsd::Lite versions through 0.10.0 for Perl allowed metric injections
Summary
Net::Statsd::Lite versions through 0.10.0 for Perl allowed metric injections. The values from the set_add method were not checked for newlines, colons or pipes. Metrics generated from untrusted sources could inject additional statsd metrics. Note that version 0.9.0 fixed a similar issue CVE-2026-46719 for metric names.

Title
Improper Neutralization of CRLF Sequences ('CRLF Injection') in GitLab
Summary
GitLab has remediated an issue in GitLab CE/EE affecting all versions from 8.11 before 18.7.6, 18.8 before 18.8.6, and 18.9 before 18.9.2 that could have allowed an authenticated user to make unintended internal requests through proxy environments under certain conditions due to improper input validation in import functionality.

Mitigation
Implementation

Avoid using CRLF as a special sequence.

Mitigation
Implementation

Appropriately filter or quote CRLF sequences in user-controlled input.

CAPEC-15: Command Delimiters

An attack of this type exploits a programs' vulnerabilities that allows an attacker's commands to be concatenated onto a legitimate command with the intent of targeting other resources such as the file system or database. The system that uses a filter or denylist input validation, as opposed to allowlist validation is vulnerable to an attacker who predicts delimiters (or combinations of delimiters) not present in the filter or denylist. As with other injection attacks, the attacker uses the command delimiter payload as an entry point to tunnel through the application and activate additional attacks through SQL queries, shell commands, network scanning, and so on.

CAPEC-81: Web Server Logs Tampering

Web Logs Tampering attacks involve an attacker injecting, deleting or otherwise tampering with the contents of web logs typically for the purposes of masking other malicious behavior. Additionally, writing malicious data to log files may target jobs, filters, reports, and other agents that process the logs in an asynchronous attack pattern. This pattern of attack is similar to "Log Injection-Tampering-Forging" except that in this case, the attack is targeting the logs of the web server and not the application.
