GHSA-HGMF-X9RW-2CF9
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2023-03-29 21:30 – Updated: 2023-04-05 15:30This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Bentley View 10.16.02.022. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The specific flaw exists within the parsing of DXF files. Crafted data in a DXF file can trigger a read past the end of an allocated buffer. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current process. Was ZDI-CAN-16306.

GHSA-HGQP-G8J9-8X49
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2022-07-19 00:00 – Updated: 2022-07-28 00:00This vulnerability allows local attackers to escalate privileges on affected installations of Parallels Desktop 17.1.1 (51537). An attacker must first obtain the ability to execute high-privileged code on the target guest system in order to exploit this vulnerability. The specific flaw exists within the ACPI virtual device. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, which can result in a read past the end of an allocated buffer. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to escalate privileges and execute arbitrary code in the context of the hypervisor. Was ZDI-CAN-16554.

GHSA-HH39-HP2X-QGP5
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2025-09-23 15:31 – Updated: 2025-09-23 15:31In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ath5k: fix OOB in ath5k_eeprom_read_pcal_info_5111
The bug was found during fuzzing. Stacktrace locates it in ath5k_eeprom_convert_pcal_info_5111. When none of the curve is selected in the loop, idx can go up to AR5K_EEPROM_N_PD_CURVES. The line makes pd out of bound. pd = &chinfo[pier].pd_curves[idx];
There are many OOB writes using pd later in the code. So I added a sanity check for idx. Checks for other loops involving AR5K_EEPROM_N_PD_CURVES are not needed as the loop index is not used outside the loops.
The patch is NOT tested with real device.
The following is the fuzzing report

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2022-07-16 00:00 – Updated: 2022-07-22 00:00An issue was discovered in Bentley MicroStation before 10.17.0.x and Bentley View before 10.17.0.x. Using an affected version of MicroStation or MicroStation-based application to open a 3DS file containing crafted data can force an out-of-bounds read. Exploitation of these vulnerabilities within the parsing of 3DS files could enable an attacker to read information in the context of the current process.

GHSA-HH55-2JHP-J24R
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2022-05-24 19:16 – Updated: 2022-05-24 19:16Acrobat Reader DC versions 2021.005.20060 (and earlier), 2020.004.30006 (and earlier) and 2017.011.30199 (and earlier) are affected by an out-of-bounds read vulnerability that could lead to disclosure of arbitrary memory information in the context of the current user. Exploitation of this issue requires user interaction in that a victim must open a malicious file.

Mitigation MIT-5
Strategy: Input Validation
- Assume all input is malicious. Use an "accept known good" input validation strategy, i.e., use a list of acceptable inputs that strictly conform to specifications. Reject any input that does not strictly conform to specifications, or transform it into something that does.
- When performing input validation, consider all potentially relevant properties, including length, type of input, the full range of acceptable values, missing or extra inputs, syntax, consistency across related fields, and conformance to business rules. As an example of business rule logic, "boat" may be syntactically valid because it only contains alphanumeric characters, but it is not valid if the input is only expected to contain colors such as "red" or "blue."
- Do not rely exclusively on looking for malicious or malformed inputs. This is likely to miss at least one undesirable input, especially if the code's environment changes. This can give attackers enough room to bypass the intended validation. However, denylists can be useful for detecting potential attacks or determining which inputs are so malformed that they should be rejected outright.
- To reduce the likelihood of introducing an out-of-bounds read, ensure that you validate and ensure correct calculations for any length argument, buffer size calculation, or offset. Be especially careful of relying on a sentinel (i.e. special character such as NUL) in untrusted inputs.
Mitigation
Strategy: Language Selection
Use a language that provides appropriate memory abstractions.
CAPEC-540: Overread Buffers
An adversary attacks a target by providing input that causes an application to read beyond the boundary of a defined buffer. This typically occurs when a value influencing where to start or stop reading is set to reflect positions outside of the valid memory location of the buffer. This type of attack may result in exposure of sensitive information, a system crash, or arbitrary code execution.
