VAR-200902-0036
Vulnerability from variot - Updated: 2025-04-10 23:00Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in the web interface in the Rockwell Automation ControlLogix 1756-ENBT/A EtherNet/IP Bridge Module allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via unspecified vectors. Rockwell Automation ControlLogix 1756-ENBT/A EtherNet/IP Bridge Contains a cross-site scripting vulnerability. Rockwell Logix Automation ControlLogix 1756-ENBT/A EtherNet/IP Bridge Uses a web interface to display log files and status information. As a result, there is a possibility that data is forged or a user is directed to an unintended site. An attacker may leverage these issues to execute arbitrary script code in the browser of an unsuspecting user in the context of the affected site. This may help the attacker steal cookie-based authentication credentials and launch other attacks. Automation ControlLogix is an industrial automation control system developed by Rockwell. ----------------------------------------------------------------------

TITLE: ControlLogix 1756-ENTB/A Ethernet/IP Bridge Vulnerabilities
SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA33783
VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/33783/
CRITICAL: Less critical
IMPACT: Cross Site Scripting, Exposure of sensitive information
WHERE:
From remote
OPERATING SYSTEM: ControlLogix 1756-ENTB/A Ethernet/IP Bridge http://secunia.com/advisories/product/21337/
DESCRIPTION: Some vulnerabilities and a weakness have been reported in ControlLogix 1756-ENTB/A Ethernet/IP Bridge, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks or to disclose potentially sensitive information.
1) Certain unspecified input passed to the web interface is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user.
2) An unspecified error in the web interface can be exploited to disclose potentially sensitive internal web page information.
SOLUTION: A fixed firmware version is scheduled for release July, 2009.
Filter malicious characters and character sequences in a proxy.
PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY: 1) US-CERT credits Daniel Peck of Digital Bond, Inc. 2) Reported by the vendor.
ORIGINAL ADVISORY: US-CERT VU#882619: http://www.kb.cert.org/vuls/id/882619

Drag nodes to arrange them. Double-click a related vulnerability to open it, or a source to visit its link. The Physics button on the left tunes the layout and the simulation; the legend at the bottom left hides or shows nodes by kind and by sighting type.

Nomenclature
- Seen: The vulnerability was mentioned, discussed, or observed by the user.
- Confirmed: The vulnerability has been validated from an analyst's perspective.
- Published Proof of Concept: A public proof of concept is available for this vulnerability.
- Exploited: The vulnerability was observed as exploited by the user who reported the sighting.
- Patched: The vulnerability was observed as successfully patched by the user who reported the sighting.
- Not exploited: The vulnerability was not observed as exploited by the user who reported the sighting.
- Not confirmed: The user expressed doubt about the validity of the vulnerability.
- Not patched: The vulnerability was not observed as successfully patched by the user who reported the sighting.

How durations are calculated
Following the VTEM framework (Black Hat USA 2015), time to patch starts when the vendor or a coordinator was informed, total time to patch at discovery, and disclosure to patch at public disclosure; vendor response time runs from the report to its acknowledgement. Time to exploit and time unpatched start at the earliest discovery or report, falling back to public disclosure. Unpatched time ends at the first recorded patch, or the calculation time when no patch is recorded. Exploitation to patch shows the interval between those two events; a published proof of concept is a public exploit, not exploitation.
Each result shows its source dates. A negative interval means the end event came first; when date-only inputs leave the order open, the result says so. Date-only inputs are approximate. The earliest evidence wins: KEV report dates and sightings are labelled as such. Records describing another vulnerability are listed but never calculated from, and a PoC alone does not establish exploitation. Missing patch evidence does not prove that no patch exists. Filters below change the event list only.

Related by attack behaviour
Vulnerabilities whose description is nearest to this one in the vector space of the CIRCL/vulnerability-attack-technique-biencoder model. This is a similarity search over the bi-encoder space (plain cosine), not a classification, and it has no measured accuracy.
