Vulnerability from github – Published: 2025-08-19 18:31 – Updated: 2026-01-09 15:30
VLAI
Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

ipv6: reject malicious packets in ipv6_gso_segment()

syzbot was able to craft a packet with very long IPv6 extension headers leading to an overflow of skb->transport_header.

This 16bit field has a limited range.

Add skb_reset_transport_header_careful() helper and use it from ipv6_gso_segment()

Related by attack behaviour

Vulnerabilities whose description is nearest to this one in the vector space of the CIRCL/vulnerability-attack-technique-biencoder model. This is a similarity search over the bi-encoder space (plain cosine), not a classification, and it has no measured accuracy.
