Title
net/sched: accept TCA_STAB only for root qdisc
Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/sched: accept TCA_STAB only for root qdisc Most qdiscs maintain their backlog using qdisc_pkt_len(skb) on the assumption it is invariant between the enqueue() and dequeue() handlers. Unfortunately syzbot can crash a host rather easily using a TBF + SFQ combination, with an STAB on SFQ [1] We can't support TCA_STAB on arbitrary level, this would require to maintain per-qdisc storage. Per kernel scoring guidance, tc/netlink qdisc bugs are Local.
AC:L - The attacker fully controls both the qdisc hierarchy (TBF root + SFQ child with TCA_STAB) and the traffic that drives the enqueue/peek/dequeue accounting desync, and syzbot produced a reliable reproducer. No condition outside attacker control is needed.
PR:L - The netlink path requires CAP_NET_ADMIN only in the network namespace's user_ns (`netlink_net_capable`), which an unprivileged user obtains with `unshare -Urn`; qdiscs, veth/lo and the size table are all configurable inside that namespace.
UI:N - The attacker performs every step — creating the netns, grafting the qdiscs with the size table, and sending the packets. No victim action is involved.
S:U - The corruption occurs in kernel heap memory managed by the same kernel security authority; there is no VM, IOMMU, or hypervisor boundary crossed.
C:H - `sfq_dec()` underflows the u16 `slot->qlen` to 65535, making `sfq_link()` read `q->dep[65535]` hundreds of kilobytes out of bounds, and a `struct sfq_slot` is returned as a fake `sk_buff` whose fields are read as `pkt_len`/`head`/`destructor` — both give attacker-leverageable kernel memory disclosure.
I:H - The same underflow yields out-of-bounds writes (`q->dep[65535].next = x` and `sfq_dep_head(q, n)->prev = x` with an OOB-derived index), and the type-confused fake skb is passed to `rtnl_kfree_skbs()`/`kfree_skb()`, freeing a pointer into the middle of a kvmalloc'ed array — a heap-corruption/control-flow-hijack primitive.
A:H - The reported syzbot crash is an immediate kernel NULL pointer dereference oops in `sfq_dequeue()` during qdisc reset, reproducible on demand by any local user with a user namespace."

Related by attack behaviour

Vulnerabilities whose description is nearest to this one in the vector space of the CIRCL/vulnerability-attack-technique-biencoder model. This is a similarity search over the bi-encoder space (plain cosine), not a classification, and it has no measured accuracy.
