AV:L - The vulnerable code is in the amdgpu DRM/KMS display driver, reachable only through local interfaces — DRM atomic ioctls on /dev/dri/cardN plus driver workqueues — with no network exposure. The dangling pointer is both created (stream disable via atomic commit) and freed (`drm_mode_atomic_ioctl` dropping the last connector reference) by local userspace, and exploiting the freed slab requires local code execution to spray it.
AC:L - No race must be won: the stale pointer persists in `hdcp_w->aconnector[]` indefinitely and is dereferenced by the periodically re-scheduled `property_validate_dwork`, so the attacker controls both the free (atomic ioctl) and the subsequent trigger, and the reporter reproduced it deterministically with a dock cycle. The affected code is enabled by default on all Raven-and-later AMD GPUs with no special Kconfig, and HDCP need not even be requested since `hdcp_remove_display()` stores the stale pointer on any MST stream disable.
PR:L - No capability, DRM-master, or HDCP privilege check exists on the path — the stale pointer is stored and dereferenced by the driver's own commit path and kernel workers during ordinary display topology changes, so an unprivileged local account is sufficient to be in a position to groom the freed slab and profit from the dereference.
UI:N - The stale pointer is created by the driver's normal stream-disable path and dereferenced by a kernel workqueue that the driver itself schedules; no action by another user or victim application is needed.
S:U - The use-after-free corrupts kernel heap memory and is exploited entirely within the kernel's own security authority; no VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary is crossed.
C:H - The freed `struct amdgpu_dm_connector` is re-read after being returned to a general kmalloc cache, and `event_property_update()` follows pointers taken from that freed object (`connector->dev`, `conn_state`, `conn_state->commit`), letting an attacker who reallocates the slab steer kernel reads to arbitrary addresses and disclose kernel memory.
I:H - `drm_hdcp_update_content_protection()` writes `state->content_protection = val` through a pointer read out of the freed object, and `drm_modeset_lock()` operates on an equally attacker-influenced address, giving a controlled-pointer write primitive on top of the freed-object corruption — sufficient for control-flow hijacking.
A:H - This is a KASAN-confirmed slab-use-after-free that dereferences freed memory from a kernel worker thread, reliably producing an oops/panic and taking down the graphics stack or the whole system."

The segment list is then DMA'ed by
the FW and the length of the DMA is returned by FW. The driver then
copies this DMA'ed segment list to info->dest_buf.

In some cases, this DMA length may exceed the info->dest_buf length
and cause the above BUG condition. Fix it by capping the copy
length to not exceed the length of info->dest_buf. The extra
DMA data contains no useful information.

This code path is shared for the HWRM_DBG_COREDUMP_LIST and the
HWRM_DBG_COREDUMP_RETRIEVE FW commands. The buffering is different
for these 2 FW commands. To simplify the logic, we need to move
the line to adjust the buffer length for HWRM_DBG_COREDUMP_RETRIEVE
up, so that the new check to cap the copy length will work for both
commands.
AV:L - The bug is reached through the ETHTOOL_GET_DUMP_DATA ioctl on a socket (sock_ioctl → dev_ioctl → dev_ethtool → ethtool_get_dump_data → bnxt_get_dump_data), which requires local system access; there is no remote or adjacent-network path into bnxt_hwrm_dbg_dma_data().
AC:L - On an affected bnxt_en adapter the attacker simply issues `ethtool -w` repeatedly and the firmware-reported DMA length deterministically exceeds the kmalloc(segs * 16) coredump-list buffer, so the out-of-bounds memcpy() is triggered reliably with no race to win and no memory layout the attacker must guess.
PR:L - __dev_ethtool() gates ETHTOOL_GET_DUMP_DATA behind ns_capable(net->user_ns, CAP_NET_ADMIN), which is namespace-relative rather than real root — an unprivileged user who is namespace-root over a net namespace holding a bnxt netdev (e.g. an SR-IOV VF handed to a container, a very common deployment for these Broadcom NICs in cloud/Kubernetes hosts) satisfies it, so basic local user privileges suffice.
UI:N - The attacker triggers the coredump retrieval entirely on their own via the ioctl; no administrator or other victim needs to perform any action.
S:U - The heap corruption occurs in kernel slab memory within the same security authority as the kernel itself; no VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary is crossed.
C:H - The unchecked memcpy() overflows a small kmalloc'd slab object with up to ~2KB of firmware data (and can also read past the 2048-byte DMA slice when the FW-reported len is larger), and such slab corruption of adjacent objects is a general primitive that can be steered into kernel information disclosure.
I:H - This is a heap out-of-bounds write — memcpy(info->dest_buf + off, dma_buf, len) with len unbounded by info->dest_buf_size (the guard against BNXT_COREDUMP_BUF_LEN(0) underflows to a huge value and never fires for HWRM_DBG_COREDUMP_LIST) — corrupting adjacent slab objects, which is the classic basis for control-flow hijack and privilege escalation.
A:H - The reported KFENCE splat shows real memory corruption in __bnxt_get_coredump(); overflowing neighbouring slab objects readily produces oopses and kernel panics, and the attacker can repeat the ioctl at will.
AV:L - Exploitation requires configuring a qfq qdisc, class, and netem child via tc/rtnetlink and then transmitting packets locally through that qdisc. Per kernel scoring guidance, tc/netlink qdisc bugs are Local.
AC:L - The attacker fully controls every precondition — netem `duplicate 100%` makes the reentrancy deterministic, and `SO_PRIORITY` steers both the original and the cloned skb to the same qfq class, so the double list_add occurs on the first packet with no race to win.
PR:L - The tc path is gated by `netlink_net_capable(skb, CAP_NET_ADMIN)`, which is satisfied by CAP_NET_ADMIN in the netns's owning user namespace; an unprivileged user obtains this with `unshare -Urn` (also auto-loading sch_qfq/sch_netem). This is Low, not High.
UI:N - The attacker sets up the qdisc hierarchy and sends the packets entirely on their own; no victim action or interaction of any kind is needed.
S:U - The corruption is confined to kernel heap structures owned by the network scheduler within the same security authority; there is no VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary crossed.
C:H - The corrupted `agg->active` list retains a dangling pointer to the kfree()'d `struct qfq_class`, and `qfq_peek_skb()` reads that freed object and dereferences `cl->qdisc->ops->peek`, giving an attacker who grooms the freed slab a kernel-memory read/disclosure primitive.
I:H - The same use-after-free yields write primitives (`cl->deficit -= len` and `list_move_tail(&cl->alist, ...)` writing two pointers into reclaimed memory) plus an indirect call through a freed function-pointer table, which is exploitable for control-flow hijack and privilege escalation.
A:H - The double list add corrupts a doubly linked list, tripping BUG/WARN under CONFIG_DEBUG_LIST and otherwise leading to use-after-free dereferences in qfq_dequeue that oops the kernel; the trigger is repeatable at will.
AV:L - Exploitation requires configuring an ETS qdisc with a duplicating netem child via tc/rtnetlink and then transmitting a packet, all of which are local operations. Per kernel scoring guidance, tc/netlink qdisc configuration is Local.
AC:L - With `netem duplicate 100%` the reentrant enqueue and the resulting double `list_add_tail()` occur deterministically on the very first packet — no race, no timing window, and no dependence on memory layout the attacker cannot influence. The attacker fully controls the qdisc tree, the classifier, and the traffic.
PR:L - Qdisc creation needs CAP_NET_ADMIN, but rtnetlink checks it via `netlink_net_capable()` against the netns's user_ns, so an unprivileged user obtains it with `unshare -Urn` and configures ETS+netem on a dummy/veth/lo device inside their own namespace. No real root is needed.
UI:N - The attacker triggers the corruption entirely on their own by sending a packet through the qdisc they configured. No victim action is required.
S:U - The corruption is confined to kernel memory within the same security authority; no hypervisor, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary is crossed.
C:H - The double list add corrupts the `q->active` doubly-linked list, desynchronizing the active/qlen invariant and leaving classes referencing `cl->qdisc` pointers that are freed by `qdisc_put()` before being NULLed — a use-after-free read of heap contents the attacker can groom, allowing kernel pointer and adjacent-object disclosure.
I:H - `__list_add()` on an already-linked node performs attacker-influenced `prev->next`/`next->prev` stores, and the resulting stale-active class yields writes through a dangling `cl->qdisc` during dequeue/teardown; this is a classic list-corruption write primitive leveraged for heap grooming and control-flow hijack.
A:H - The corrupted list causes a `CONFIG_DEBUG_LIST` `__list_add_valid()` BUG/oops, and otherwise leaves the qdisc permanently wedged — `ets_qdisc_dequeue()` returns NULL with `sch->q.qlen > 0`, stalling the device's transmit path — plus NULL/dangling `cl->qdisc->ops->peek()` dereferences leading to a kernel panic.
AV:L - The vulnerability is reached by configuring a DRR qdisc with a netem child via rtnetlink (tc) and then transmitting a packet through it, all of which requires local system access. Per kernel scoring convention, tc/netlink qdisc bugs are Local.
AC:L - The attacker sets `netem duplicate 100%`, making the reentrant enqueue deterministic rather than probabilistic, and controls both the qdisc topology and the packet that triggers it. sch_drr and sch_netem are enabled as modules in mainstream distribution kernels, so no rare configuration is needed.
PR:L - Qdisc configuration only needs CAP_NET_ADMIN in the network namespace's user namespace (`ns_capable(net->user_ns, CAP_NET_ADMIN)`), which any unprivileged user obtains with `unshare -Urn` plus a dummy/veth device. No real root in the initial namespace is required.
UI:N - The attacker performs every step — creating the namespace, installing the drr/netem qdisc pair, and sending the packet — with no action from any other user.
S:U - The corruption and its consequences stay within the kernel's own security authority; there is no crossing of a VM, IOMMU, or other separate security boundary.
C:H - The corrupted `q->active` head leaves a dangling pointer to the freed drr_class, and `drr_dequeue()` reads `cl->qdisc` out of that freed slab object, giving an attacker who resprays the slab a kernel-memory read primitive usable to disclose pointers and arbitrary data.
I:H - This is memory corruption: `__list_add()` writes through the stale head into the freed class (`prev->next = new`), and `drr_dequeue()` performs an indirect call `cl->qdisc->ops->peek()` through freed, attacker-sprayable memory, yielding a write and control-flow hijack primitive for privilege escalation.
A:H - The double list_add trips `CONFIG_DEBUG_LIST` BUG/warning immediately, and on production kernels the resulting list corruption and use-after-free reliably oops or panics the machine.
AV:N - The race is driven entirely by Ethernet frame reception and the resulting transmit-completion interrupts on the MAC, so any remote peer able to send routed packets to the affected interface (these SoCs are commonly IoT/embedded gateways) can drive it. No local access is needed.
AC:L - The attacker creates both sides of the race by flooding the interface: inbound frames schedule RX NAPI while the host's replies generate TX-complete interrupts that hit the same CPU during the lock-held MMIO window, and the flood can be sustained indefinitely until the collision occurs (it was observed during ordinary traffic testing).
PR:N - The code path is the driver's packet receive/transmit interrupt and NAPI handling, executed on any incoming frame with no authentication, credentials, or capability check whatsoever.
UI:N - No victim action is required; the deadlock occurs in interrupt/softirq context purely as a result of attacker-generated traffic.
S:U - The deadlock is confined to the kernel of the affected host and does not cross into another security authority such as a hypervisor or IOMMU boundary.
C:N - The lock protects only a read-modify-write of the interrupt-mask register; the recursion causes a hang and exposes no memory contents or kernel data to the attacker.
I:N - No memory corruption, out-of-bounds access, or data modification results from the spinlock recursion — the CPU simply spins on a lock it already holds.
A:H - The self-deadlock wedges the CPU in interrupt context while holding priv->lock, producing a spinlock-recursion BUG and a hard lockup that stalls networking and typically hangs the system."
