AV:N - ib_srp is an RDMA/SRP initiator (IB or RoCE); a remote fabric peer can force transport errors that expire dev_loss_tmo, call rport_delete→scsi_remove_host, and reach the UAF during later tag-set teardown—analogous to prior NVMe-oF fabric-teardown Network scores.
AC:L - Once an SRP target is in use under multipath (the normal HA deployment shown in the KASAN stack), the peer can deterministically drop the link and wait for kernel timers plus multipathd cleanup; this is a lifetime bug, not a race the attacker cannot control.
PR:N - Teardown is driven by unauthenticated remote transport/reconnect-failure events on an already-configured SRP session; the peer needs no local account or capability on the initiator (multipathd/sysfs CAP_SYS_ADMIN runs as victim-side reaction).
UI:N - After the SRP path is established, disconnect handling, dev_loss_tmo, and multipathd device removal proceed from kernel workqueues/daemons with no additional victim user action at exploit time.
S:U - The UAF corrupts in-kernel SCSI/SRP/blk-mq objects within the same host kernel authority and does not cross a VM, IOMMU, or other security-authority boundary.
C:H - This is a confirmed KASAN use-after-free in srp_exit_cmd_priv during tag-set free; per kernel guidance a UAF yields an attacker-controllable read primitive via reclaim of the freed object.
I:H - Use-after-free of host-associated command-private state during blk_mq_free_tag_set enables heap spray and arbitrary write/control-flow hijack primitives, so integrity impact is High.
A:H - The UAF produces a kernel oops/KASAN fault in the exit_cmd_priv path (as in the reported multipathd stack), which is full availability loss even without further exploitation."

Here is another
different caller causing the same issue because of the same reason.
AV:L - The only path that reaches the string branch is a write(2) to /sys/class/net/<bond>/bonding/arp_ip_target; the rtnetlink path passes a binary __be32 and cannot set newval->string. This requires local access, not network traffic.
AC:L - A single deterministic write of one NUL byte produces the empty string and triggers the out-of-bounds strlen() every time — no race, no timing window, and no dependence on memory layout to reach the OOB access.
PR:L - Verified empirically as uid 1000: inside `unshare -Urnm` the bond netdev's sysfs group is owned by the user namespace's root (net_class.get_ownership → net_ns_get_ownership), which maps to the attacker's real uid, so an unprivileged user can create the bond and write the attribute. No real root or init-namespace capability is needed.
UI:N - The attacker performs the entire sequence (create netns/userns, create bond device, write the sysfs file) unaided; no victim action is involved.
S:U - The out-of-bounds read stays within the kernel's own memory and security authority; no VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary is crossed.
C:H - strlen() walks adjacent slab memory with no upper bound until it happens to find a NUL byte, and parsed heap bytes forming a dotted quad are stored in bond->params.arp_targets where any user can read them back via the world-readable arp_ip_target attribute or netlink; the pre-fix error path also leaked uninitialized kernel stack through %pI4.
I:N - The defect is a read-only out-of-bounds access with no write primitive; the only state changed is the bond's own ARP target list, which the same actor could already set legitimately through the identical interface.
A:H - The unbounded read can run past the end of the slab page into unmapped memory (e.g. with DEBUG_PAGEALLOC/page poisoning) causing an oops, and on KASAN kernels it produces the reported slab-out-of-bounds report/panic, repeatable at will by an unprivileged user.
en
AV:L - The vulnerable RCU read-side section is entered from `ima_file_check()`/`process_measurement()` on the `open()`/`execve()` path, so the attacker must be executing code locally on the host. There is no network protocol handler that reaches `ima_match_policy()` directly.
AC:L - The attacker fully controls the reader side (an `open()` storm across all CPUs), the memory pressure that forces the `GFP_KERNEL` allocation into reclaim and schedules away, and the parallelism — no specific memory layout or timing the attacker cannot influence is needed, and `ima_lsm_update_rules()` performs a separate `synchronize_rcu()` for every LSM rule, leaving a wide window. The one precondition outside attacker control is a concurrent SELinux policy reload/`setsebool`, a routine administrative event the attacker can simply hold a persistent trigger loop through (and can even detect via the unprivileged-readable selinuxfs status page).
PR:L - Reaching `ima_match_policy()` requires only the ability to open files as an ordinary unprivileged local user; there is no capability check anywhere on the `path_openat → ima_file_check → ima_match_policy` path. No root or CAP_MAC_ADMIN is needed on the attacker's side.
UI:N - The race is hit entirely by the attacker's own threads sleeping inside the RCU read-side critical section; no victim has to open a file, mount a filesystem, or perform any action for the UAF to occur.
S:U - The freed `ima_rule_entry` and all resulting corruption are within the host kernel's own security authority. This is standard in-kernel memory corruption with no VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary crossed.
C:H - After the early `synchronize_rcu()` return, the reader dereferences the freed rule's `list.next`, `fsname` (passed to `strcmp()`), and `template` pointers, so a heap spray of the reallocated `ima_rule_entry` yields attacker-directed kernel reads. Per kernel scoring guidance, a use-after-free is treated as High confidentiality impact.
I:H - `struct ima_rule_entry` holds four function pointers (`uid_op`, `gid_op`, `fowner_op`, `fgroup_op`) that `ima_match_rules()` calls directly, plus `template`, whose `fields[i]->field_init()` is invoked in `ima_api.c` — controlling the reallocated object gives control-flow hijack. The attacker can also forge `entry->action`/`entry->flags` to suppress IMA measurement and appraisal, defeating the integrity subsystem itself.
A:H - The reported real-world symptom is a kernel NULL-pointer dereference and panic in `ima_match_policy+0x84/0x450` reached from `do_sys_open()`. Any use-after-free of this kind reliably oopses or panics the machine even when not exploited further.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

tcp: avoid too many retransmit packets

If a TCP socket is using TCP_USER_TIMEOUT, and the other peer
retracted its window to zero, tcp_retransmit_timer() can
retransmit a packet every two jiffies (2 ms for HZ=1000),
for about 4 minutes after TCP_USER_TIMEOUT has 'expired'.

The fix is to make sure tcp_rtx_probe0_timed_out() takes
icsk->icsk_user_timeout into account.

Before blamed commit, the socket would not timeout after
icsk->icsk_user_timeout, but would use standard exponential
backoff for the retransmits.

Also worth noting that before commit e89688e3e978 ("net: tcp:
fix unexcepted socket die when snd_wnd is 0"), the issue
would last 2 minutes instead of 4.
en
AV:N - The bug is in the core TCP stack (net/ipv4/tcp_timer.c) and is driven entirely by a remote peer's advertised window and ACKs; no local access is needed. Any remote TCP peer of a socket with TCP_USER_TIMEOUT set (NFS client transports, ocfs2, BPF-sockops-configured connections, gRPC/Envoy/HAProxy/Redis servers) can trigger it.
AC:L - The attacker fully controls the trigger — shrink the receive window to zero (stop reading, or use a custom stack) and keep ACKing the zero-window probes to keep tp->rcv_tstamp fresh so tcp_rtx_probe0_timed_out() never aborts. No race, timing luck, or memory-layout dependency; TCP_USER_TIMEOUT being set is a common attacker-independent deployment property (sunrpc sets it unconditionally), i.e. part of the vulnerable configuration.
PR:N - No authentication or credentials are required — establishing a TCP connection and getting unacked data in flight (e.g. a banner or a pre-auth response) is sufficient. Locally the same condition is reachable by any unprivileged user via setsockopt(TCP_USER_TIMEOUT), which has no capability check.
UI:N - The packet storm is generated autonomously by the kernel retransmit timer once the peer advertises a zero window. No action by any local user or administrator is needed.
S:U - The CPU, softirq and network-bandwidth exhaustion stay within the affected host's own security authority. No privilege or virtualization boundary is crossed.
C:N - The bug only causes excessive retransmission of data already queued for and destined to that same peer — no out-of-bounds read, uninitialized memory, or kernel-pointer exposure. The only extra output is an already-existing net_dbg_ratelimited() message.
I:N - There is no memory corruption, out-of-bounds write, or type confusion; the emitted packets are legitimate, correctly-formed retransmissions. No kernel or user data is modified.
A:H - tcp_clamp_rto_to_user_timeout() pins the retransmit timer to 1 jiffy, producing 500–1000 packets/sec per socket, each with a tcp_enter_loss() and a __sk_dst_reset() route lookup, and a peer that keeps ACKing probes makes this unbounded in time rather than the 4 minutes noted in the changelog. Scaled across many connections this is a sustained, unauthenticated CPU and link-saturation denial of service, and the socket also silently ignores the TCP_USER_TIMEOUT the application relies on for failure detection.
en
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

bpf: Fix overrunning reservations in ringbuf

The BPF ring buffer internally is implemented as a power-of-2 sized circular
buffer, with two logical and ever-increasing counters: consumer_pos is the
consumer counter to show which logical position the consumer consumed the
data, and producer_pos which is the producer counter denoting the amount of
data reserved by all producers.

Each time a record is reserved, the producer that "owns" the record will
successfully advance producer counter. In user space each time a record is
read, the consumer of the data advanced the consumer counter once it finished
processing. Both counters are stored in separate pages so that from user
space, the producer counter is read-only and the consumer counter is read-write.

One aspect that simplifies and thus speeds up the implementation of both
producers and consumers is how the data area is mapped twice contiguously
back-to-back in the virtual memory, allowing to not take any special measures
for samples that have to wrap around at the end of the circular buffer data
area, because the next page after the last data page would be first data page
again, and thus the sample will still appear completely contiguous in virtual
memory.

Each record has a struct bpf_ringbuf_hdr { u32 len; u32 pg_off; } header for
book-keeping the length and offset, and is inaccessible to the BPF program.
Helpers like bpf_ringbuf_reserve() return `(void *)hdr + BPF_RINGBUF_HDR_SZ`
for the BPF program to use. Bing-Jhong and Muhammad reported that it is however
possible to make a second allocated memory chunk overlapping with the first
chunk and as a result, the BPF program is now able to edit first chunk's
header.

For example, consider the creation of a BPF_MAP_TYPE_RINGBUF map with size
of 0x4000. Next, the consumer_pos is modified to 0x3000 /before/ a call to
bpf_ringbuf_reserve() is made. This will allocate a chunk A, which is in
[0x0,0x3008], and the BPF program is able to edit [0x8,0x3008]. Now, lets
allocate a chunk B with size 0x3000. This will succeed because consumer_pos
was edited ahead of time to pass the `new_prod_pos - cons_pos > rb->mask`
check. Chunk B will be in range [0x3008,0x6010], and the BPF program is able
to edit [0x3010,0x6010]. Due to the ring buffer memory layout mentioned
earlier, the ranges [0x0,0x4000] and [0x4000,0x8000] point to the same data
pages. This means that chunk B at [0x4000,0x4008] is chunk A's header.
bpf_ringbuf_submit() / bpf_ringbuf_discard() use the header's pg_off to then
locate the bpf_ringbuf itself via bpf_ringbuf_restore_from_rec(). Once chunk
B modified chunk A's header, then bpf_ringbuf_commit() refers to the wrong
page and could cause a crash.

Fix it by calculating the oldest pending_pos and check whether the range
from the oldest outstanding record to the newest would span beyond the ring
buffer size. If that is the case, then reject the request. We've tested with
the ring buffer benchmark in BPF selftests (./benchs/run_bench_ringbufs.sh)
before/after the fix and while it seems a bit slower on some benchmarks, it
is still not significantly enough to matter.
AV:L - The vulnerability is reached through the bpf() syscall by loading and running a BPF program that calls bpf_ringbuf_reserve/submit, which is a local operation with no network or physical component.
AC:L - The attacker deterministically controls both sides — the BPF producer and the writable consumer_pos mmap page — so the overlapping reservation is triggered reliably with no uncontrolled race or memory-layout precondition.
PR:L - In the most severe reasonable configuration (unprivileged_bpf_disabled=0) any unprivileged local user can create a RINGBUF map and run a socket-filter program to reach this; the ringbuf helpers and map type are in the unprivileged class, and CAP_BPF is a delegatable sub-root capability.
UI:N - The attacker performs the entire sequence (mmap, edit consumer_pos, reserve, submit) alone with no victim action required.
S:U - The corruption stays within the kernel's own security authority; there is no cross-boundary escape such as VM or IOMMU.
C:H - The overlapping-reservation primitive lets the program corrupt an adjacent record header so bpf_ringbuf_commit() dereferences an attacker-controlled rb pointer, enabling disclosure of kernel memory contents.
I:H - Overlapping chunks give a controlled out-of-bounds write into another record's header, and the resulting attacker-controlled rb pointer feeding irq_work_queue() yields a write/control-flow primitive exploitable for corruption.
A:H - The commit notes the corrupted header makes bpf_ringbuf_commit() reference the wrong page and can crash the kernel, a full denial of service.
AV:L - The vulnerability is reached only through the local `fcntl(F_SETLK/F_SETLKW)` syscall path in `fcntl_setlk()`, with the resulting use-after-free read triggered by reading the local `/proc/locks` file. Network file-lock consumers (nfsd, lockd, ksmbd) call `vfs_lock_file()` directly and never traverse the buggy recovery branch.
AC:L - The attacker controls both sides of the fcntl/close race and can make it fully deterministic by blocking a second thread in `F_SETLKW` behind a conflicting lock it owns, closing the fd, then releasing the blocker. The failure of the recovery unlock is likewise attacker-inducible, either via an LSM policy asymmetry or by forcing the `GFP_KERNEL` allocation failure in the mid-range split path under attacker-generated memory pressure.
PR:L - Any unprivileged local user can call `fcntl()` on a file it can open and read the world-readable `/proc/locks` (confirmed mode `-r--r--r--`); no capability, user-namespace, or mount privilege is checked anywhere along the path.
UI:N - The attacker performs every step itself — creating the lock, racing the close, and reading `/proc/locks` — with no action required from any other user or process.
S:U - The dangling `file_lock` and the resulting reads stay within the kernel's own security authority; no VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary is crossed.
C:H - `lock_get_status()` dereferences the freed `struct file` (`flc->flc_file->f_inode`) and prints `inode->i_sb->s_dev` and `inode->i_ino` to userspace, giving a chosen-address read primitive once the freed slot is groomed — the fix author states this "can likely be used to read arbitrary kernel memory."
I:H - The use-after-free leaves permanently corrupted kernel lock state — a `file_lock` with dangling `flc_file` and `flc_owner` that can never be released, so a recycled `files_struct` at the same address grants an unrelated (possibly higher-privileged) process spurious ownership of the stale lock. Combined with the arbitrary-read primitive that defeats KASLR and exposes credentials/keys, the condition is leverageable toward privilege escalation.
A:H - Reading `/proc/locks` after the freed page is reclaimed oopses the kernel, and the pre-fix `WARN_ON_ONCE()` panics outright on the `panic_on_warn` configurations common in hardened and Android deployments. The permanently un-releasable stale lock also blocks any other process waiting via `F_SETLKW` on that inode indefinitely.
AV:L - Reaching `ocfs2_check_dir_entry()`/`ocfs2_search_dirblock()` requires a crafted OCFS2 volume to be present locally (loop-mounted image file or an attached block device/USB stick) and then touched with an ordinary path-walk or `getdents()`; ocfs2 directory parsing is not exposed by any remote protocol handler.
AC:L - The attacker authors the on-disk dirents, and `rec_len` is an unvalidated `__le16` that the scan loop only rejects when zero, so `de_buf` can be steered to any byte offset (including `b_data + blocksize - 1`) and the out-of-bounds header read in `ocfs2_match()` fires deterministically on the first `stat()`/`readdir()` — no race, no memory-layout luck, and no non-default kernel config.
PR:L - An unprivileged local user supplies the poisoned image (a file for loop-mount, or removable media handled by udisks2/systemd automount) and then triggers the path with plain unprivileged `open()`/`stat()`/`readdir()`/`rename()` on the crafted directory; the attacker needs no capability of their own.
UI:N - On the common desktop/kiosk/embedded deployment the attacker-supplied device is mounted automatically by the automount daemon, and the attacking process itself then issues the syscall that walks the malformed directory — no deliberate action by another user is required.
S:U - The out-of-bounds accesses and the resulting metadata corruption stay inside the kernel's own memory and security authority; no VM, IOMMU, container, or sandbox boundary is crossed.
C:H - `ocfs2_match()` reads `de->inode`, `de->name_len` and `memcmp()`s the name up to ~12 bytes past the end of the page-cache block buffer, and `ocfs2_check_dir_entry()`'s `mlog(ML_ERROR, …)` then prints that out-of-bounds `de->inode` verbatim into the kernel log, while the match/no-match result forms a byte-granular oracle over adjacent kernel memory; for inline dirs the missing `i_size` bound also lets `dir_emit()` hand bytes from beyond the valid region to userspace.
I:H - Dirents that stray outside the valid region pass validation and are then written in place — `le16_add_cpu(&pde->rec_len, …)` and `de->inode = 0` in `__ocfs2_delete_entry()`, `de->inode`/`file_type` in `ocfs2_update_entry()`, and `de1->rec_len`/`de->name_len`/`memcpy(de->name, name, namelen)` in `__ocfs2_add_entry()` — through unaligned pointers whose offsets are derived from out-of-bounds-read `rec_len`/`name_len`, giving attacker-controlled writes outside the region the code believes it owns.
A:H - The read past a block buffer that can be a full page reliably trips KASAN and can fault on an unmapped adjacent page (DEBUG_PAGEALLOC, highmem/kmap, sparsemem section edge), producing an oops, and the `BUG_ON((char *)de >= (size + data_start))` in `__ocfs2_add_entry()` becomes reachable for inline-data dirs because the old check bounded against the block rather than `i_size` — a kernel BUG taken with the journal handle and inode locks held; the trigger is repeatable on demand."
