AV:N - The bug is in the kTLS receive path (net/tls/tls_sw.c) processing data from a remote TLS peer over TCP; the triggering condition (a record larger than the receiver's buffer, forcing the non-zero-copy clear_skb path) is chosen by the remote peer. Per kernel scoring guidance, kTLS bugs triggered by remote peer data are Network.
AC:L - There is no race to win — the async completion callback frees the pages before process_rx_list() reads them, deterministically. The required preconditions are the default on mainstream deployments (TLS 1.2 + generic-gcm-aesni, which the SIMD wrapper always registers with CRYPTO_ALG_ASYNC) and the remaining one, a partial read, is forced at will by the peer sending oversized records.
PR:N - The attacker is the remote TLS peer, which holds no privileges or account on the target system — any client that completes an anonymous TLS handshake with a kTLS-offloading server (or any malicious server a kTLS client connects to) can drive the bug. No local credentials are involved anywhere on the path.
UI:N - The only local behavior required is an application calling recvmsg() on its kTLS socket with a buffer smaller than the incoming record, which is ordinary, continuous operation of any TLS-consuming server or client. No victim performs any special action.
S:U - The corruption is confined to kernel memory managed by the same security authority; there is no VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary crossed. This is a standard in-kernel memory-safety issue.
C:H - process_rx_list() copies the contents of already-freed pages directly into the userspace receive buffer, and the partial-read nature leaves the stale skb on rx_list so the leak repeats on later recvmsg() calls with a wide reallocation window. Attacker-driven spraying can place other sockets' plaintext, page-cache data, or slab contents into those pages, yielding a repeatable kernel memory disclosure primitive.
I:H - Beyond the read, skb_release_data() issues a second put_page() on pages that have since been reallocated, dropping a live page's refcount to zero and freeing memory owned by an unrelated allocation. This cross-owner page use-after-free is a well-established route to arbitrary write and control-flow hijack via reuse as slab or page-table memory.
A:H - The page refcount underflow triggers bad_page()/VM_BUG_ON_PAGE and corrupts the buddy allocator, and reading or reusing freed pages oopses immediately under KASAN or page poisoning. A remote peer can trigger this repeatedly, reliably panicking the machine.
AV:N - The vulnerable path is kTLS record processing (`net/tls/tls_sw.c`); the RX-side race is driven by TLS records sent by the remote peer of a kTLS-offloaded socket (kTLS HTTPS servers, NVMe-TCP/TLS), which controls how many async decryptions are in flight and when the final completion fires. Per kernel scoring guidance, kTLS bugs triggered by remote peer data are Network.
AC:L - The attacker controls both sides of the race — it supplies the data that triggers the async crypto completions and drives the socket teardown (locally via its own close(), remotely by ending the request/connection so the server closes) — and can retry across thousands of concurrent connections until the window is won.
PR:N - There is no capability or authorization check anywhere in net/tls; a remote peer of a public kTLS server needs no credentials, and a local attacker needs only an ordinary unprivileged socket to set the TLS ULP and install keys.
UI:N - No victim action is required; the socket close that closes the race is ordinary application behavior the attacker induces, not a user-performed operation.
S:U - The corruption is confined to kernel slab memory within the same security authority; no VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary is crossed.
C:H - The freed `tls_sw_context_rx`/`tls_sw_context_tx` comes from a generic kmalloc cache and can be reclaimed by attacker-controlled objects, so the use-after-free gives control over freed-object contents and can be leveraged for kernel memory disclosure.
I:H - The callback performs writes into the freed object (`spin_unlock_bh`, `test_and_set_bit` on `tx_bitmask`) and queues a `delayed_work` residing in freed memory whose function pointer is later dereferenced, yielding heap corruption at known offsets and a control-flow hijack primitive.
A:H - The use-after-free reliably produces slab corruption, oopses and panics, and the lost-wakeup half of the race can leave the submitting thread blocked forever in uninterruptible sleep holding the socket."

For example, when
the cryptd queue for AESNI is full (easy to trigger with an
artificially low cryptd.cryptd_max_cpu_qlen), requests will be enqueued
to the backlog but still processed. In that case, the async callback
will also be called twice: first with err == -EINPROGRESS, which it
seems we can just ignore, then with err == 0.

Compared to Sabrina's original patch this version uses the new
tls_*crypt_async_wait() helpers and converts the EBUSY to
EINPROGRESS to avoid having to modify all the error handling
paths. The handling is identical.
AV:N - The flaw is in net/tls software crypto submission, and the decrypt path is driven directly by TLS records received from the remote peer while the encrypt path is driven by data sent back over the same connection. A remote client of a kTLS-terminating server reaches the vulnerable code purely by sending network traffic.
AC:L - The triggering condition is a full crypto backlog queue, which is a load condition the attacker creates by driving concurrent TLS records across many kTLS sockets; on hardware crypto accelerators with shallow rings, -EBUSY occurs under ordinary attacker-generated throughput. No memory layout or victim state outside the attacker's influence is required.
PR:N - A kTLS-offloading server accepts connections from arbitrary unauthenticated clients (no client certificates in the typical deployment), and once the session is established the attacker only needs to send record data. No account or privilege on the target system is required.
UI:N - The bug triggers automatically during normal kTLS record encryption and decryption on an established connection. No action by any local user or administrator is needed.
S:U - The use-after-free, double free and page refcount underflow all occur within kernel memory managed by the same security authority. No VM, IOMMU or sandbox boundary is crossed.
C:H - The freed tls_rec / aead_req+tls_decrypt_ctx blocks are re-read after being reclaimed, yielding an attacker-groomable sock pointer and scatterlist, and the page refcount underflow from the spurious put_page() lets freed pages holding other tenants' data be re-observed. This is leverageable into arbitrary kernel memory disclosure.
I:H - The stale callback writes into freed memory (rec->tx_ready, sge->offset, ctx->async_wait.err) and the crypto engine writes attacker-supplied plaintext into pages already released, giving a controlled-content write primitive, compounded by a double kfree() of the decrypt buffer.
A:H - The use-after-free, double free and page refcount underflow reliably produce slab corruption and kernel panics, and the encrypt_pending/decrypt_pending underflow leaves tls_*crypt_async_wait() waiting on a completion that never arrives, hanging the socket close path.
AV:N - The flaw is in the net/tls software TX path of a kTLS-terminating server, where the encrypt-then-close sequence is driven entirely by remote client traffic (request eliciting a response plus `Connection: close`/RST), and the remote peer additionally controls whether records stay queued at the head of tx_list via its TCP receive window, which is the precondition for reaching the post-complete() code. No local access to the target is needed.
AC:L - The attacker controls both sides of the race — one side issues the sendmsg that leaves an async encryption in flight, the other issues the close that blocks in tls_encrypt_async_wait() and then frees ctx — and can retry across thousands of concurrent connections at no cost. No memory layout or victim state outside the attacker's influence is required.
PR:N - A kTLS-offloading HTTPS server accepts connections from arbitrary unauthenticated clients with no client certificate in the typical deployment; locally, setsockopt(TCP_ULP,"tls") plus TLS_TX requires no capability at all once the tls module is loaded. Neither path needs an account or privilege on the target.
UI:N - The race fires during ordinary kTLS record encryption and socket teardown on an established connection. No action by any local user or administrator is required.
S:U - The use-after-free on struct tls_sw_context_tx and the resulting timer/workqueue corruption all occur in kernel memory managed by the same security authority. No VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary is crossed.
C:H - After kfree(ctx) the callback and the later timer expiry re-read freed, attacker-groomable memory — timer->function, dwork->wq, and tx_work->sk, the last of which is dereferenced as a struct sock * by tx_work_handler/tls_tx_records. Controlling that fake sock and the redirected call is leverageable into arbitrary kernel memory disclosure.
I:H - The stale callback performs an atomic bit-set into the reallocated slab object at a fixed offset and writes dwork->wq, dwork->cpu and timer->expires into freed memory, then links that freed object into the global timer wheel. That yields a controlled heap write plus a function pointer read from reclaimed memory, i.e. a control-flow hijack primitive.
A:H - Arming a delayed_work inside a freed slab object after cancel_delayed_work_sync() reliably produces slab and timer-wheel corruption, and tx_work_handler running against an already-freed TLS context oopses on the stale sk. Any of these panics the kernel.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

mlxsw: spectrum_acl_tcam: Fix stack corruption

When tc filters are first added to a net device, the corresponding local
port gets bound to an ACL group in the device. The group contains a list
of ACLs. In turn, each ACL points to a different TCAM region where the
filters are stored. During forwarding, the ACLs are sequentially
evaluated until a match is found.

One reason to place filters in different regions is when they are added
with decreasing priorities and in an alternating order so that two
consecutive filters can never fit in the same region because of their
key usage.

In Spectrum-2 and newer ASICs the firmware started to report that the
maximum number of ACLs in a group is more than 16, but the layout of the
register that configures ACL groups (PAGT) was not updated to account
for that. It is therefore possible to hit stack corruption [1] in the
rare case where more than 16 ACLs in a group are required.

Fix by limiting the maximum ACL group size to the minimum between what
the firmware reports and the maximum ACLs that fit in the PAGT register.

Add a test case to make sure the machine does not crash when this
condition is hit.

[1]
Kernel panic - not syncing: stack-protector: Kernel stack is corrupted in: mlxsw_sp_acl_tcam_group_update+0x116/0x120
[...]
dump_stack_lvl+0x36/0x50
panic+0x305/0x330
__stack_chk_fail+0x15/0x20
mlxsw_sp_acl_tcam_group_update+0x116/0x120
mlxsw_sp_acl_tcam_group_region_attach+0x69/0x110
mlxsw_sp_acl_tcam_vchunk_get+0x492/0xa20
mlxsw_sp_acl_tcam_ventry_add+0x25/0xe0
mlxsw_sp_acl_rule_add+0x47/0x240
mlxsw_sp_flower_replace+0x1a9/0x1d0
tc_setup_cb_add+0xdc/0x1c0
fl_hw_replace_filter+0x146/0x1f0
fl_change+0xc17/0x1360
tc_new_tfilter+0x472/0xb90
rtnetlink_rcv_msg+0x313/0x3b0
netlink_rcv_skb+0x58/0x100
netlink_unicast+0x244/0x390
netlink_sendmsg+0x1e4/0x440
____sys_sendmsg+0x164/0x260
___sys_sendmsg+0x9a/0xe0
__sys_sendmsg+0x7a/0xc0
do_syscall_64+0x40/0xe0
entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x63/0x6b
AV:L - The vulnerability is reached through the rtnetlink/`tc filter add` path via the `sendmsg()` syscall on a netlink socket, requiring local system access. Network packets traversing the switch cannot reach the ACL group configuration code, which only runs on control-plane filter installation.
AC:L - The attacker deterministically forces more than 16 ACLs into one group by adding flower filters with decreasing priorities in an alternating key layout so consecutive filters cannot share a TCAM region — the exact sequence the added selftest performs. There is no race, no timing window, and no dependence on unpredictable memory layout.
PR:L - `rtnetlink_rcv_msg` gates filter creation on CAP_NET_ADMIN, a delegated capability well short of full root that is routinely granted to network-management daemons and `--net=host --cap-add=NET_ADMIN` containers on the switch platforms where mlxsw is deployed. Such a semi-privileged context crosses a real boundary by smashing the kernel stack.
UI:N - The attacker installs the tc filters entirely on their own; no victim action, no mount, and no file open is involved. The overflow occurs synchronously inside the attacker's own syscall.
S:U - The corrupted memory is the kernel stack of the calling thread, and the impact stays within the kernel's own security authority. No hypervisor, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary is crossed.
C:H - Each out-of-bounds iteration read-modify-writes stack memory beyond the 112-byte `pagt_pl` buffer, and the resulting corruption of saved registers and the return address is the kind of memory corruption that can be steered toward disclosing kernel memory. Per the higher-severity rule for out-of-bounds writes on the kernel stack, this is scored High.
I:H - This is an out-of-bounds write that walks linearly past the end of a fixed 112-byte stack buffer, overwriting the stack canary, saved registers, and return address with values partially controlled by the attacker (region IDs and the `multi` bit). Out-of-bounds writes into a kernel stack frame are treated as High integrity impact.
A:H - The documented and reproducible outcome is `Kernel panic - not syncing: stack-protector: Kernel stack is corrupted`, an unconditional panic that takes down the entire switch. The condition is triggered on demand and repeatably.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

erofs: fix inconsistent per-file compression format

EROFS can select compression algorithms on a per-file basis, and each
per-file compression algorithm needs to be marked in the on-disk
superblock for initialization.

However, syzkaller can generate inconsistent crafted images that use
an unsupported algorithmtype for specific inodes, e.g. use MicroLZMA
algorithmtype even it's not set in `sbi->available_compr_algs`. This
can lead to an unexpected "BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference" if
the corresponding decompressor isn't built-in.

Fix this by checking against `sbi->available_compr_algs` for each
m_algorithmformat request. Incorrect !erofs_sb_has_compr_cfgs preset
bitmap is now fixed together since it was harmless previously."

Related by attack behaviour
Vulnerabilities whose description is nearest to this one in the vector space of the CIRCL/vulnerability-attack-technique-biencoder model. This is a similarity search over the bi-encoder space (plain cosine), not a classification, and it has no measured accuracy.
