That leaves removed stream metadata behind, so a
later re-add can reuse a stale ext and hit a null-pointer dereference in
the scheduler get path.

Fix the rollback by tearing down the removed stream state the same way
other stream resizes do. Unschedule the current scheduler state, drop
the removed stream ext state with sctp_stream_outq_migrate(), and then
reschedule the remaining streams.

This keeps scheduler-private RR/FC/PRIO lists consistent while fully
rolling back denied outgoing stream additions.
AV:N - The vulnerable code is reached while processing an SCTP RE-CONFIG response chunk received from a remote SCTP peer on an established association. A malicious peer can send a denied ADD_OUT_STREAMS response over the network once stream reconfiguration is negotiated.
AC:L - The packet/state sequence is protocol-controlled and reproducible: negotiate SCTP RE-CONFIG, trigger an ADD_OUT_STREAMS request, deny it, then cause later reuse of the stale stream state. Although RE-CONFIG must be enabled by the application, there is no race or condition outside the attacker's reasonable influence in a deployment using this feature.
PR:N - A remote SCTP peer does not need local kernel privileges or authenticated OS privileges to send the denial response. The path is gated by SCTP association state, verification tag, and matching outstanding request sequence, not by credentials.
UI:N - No human user interaction is required once the SCTP service/association is operating with stream reconfiguration. The triggering input is network protocol traffic from the peer.
S:U - The vulnerability affects kernel SCTP state within the same host security authority. It does not cross a VM, IOMMU, or other separate authorization boundary.
C:N - The investigated failure mode is stale SCTP stream scheduler metadata leading to a NULL pointer dereference in scheduler value retrieval. I did not find evidence of an attacker-controlled memory read or information disclosure primitive.
I:N - The bug leaves scheduler-private stream state inconsistent but the demonstrated impact is a NULL dereference/crash, not controlled data modification or code execution. No arbitrary write primitive was evident from the rollback path.
A:H - The stale stream extension state can lead to a kernel NULL pointer dereference/oops in the SCTP scheduler path. A remotely reachable kernel crash is a high availability impact.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

net/smc: fix UAF in smc_cdc_rx_handler() by pinning the socket

smc_cdc_rx_handler() looks up the connection by token under the link
group's conns_lock, drops the lock, and then dereferences conn and the
smc_sock derived from it, ending in sock_hold(&smc->sk) inside
smc_cdc_msg_recv(). No reference is held across the lock release.

The only reference pinning the socket while the connection is
discoverable in the link group is taken in smc_lgr_register_conn()
(sock_hold) and dropped in __smc_lgr_unregister_conn() (sock_put), both
under conns_lock. Once the handler drops conns_lock, a concurrent
close() -> smc_release() -> smc_conn_free() -> smc_lgr_unregister_conn()
can drop that reference and free the smc_sock, so the handler's later
sock_hold() runs on freed memory:

WARNING: lib/refcount.c:25 at refcount_warn_saturate
Workqueue: rxe_wq do_work
refcount_warn_saturate (lib/refcount.c:25)
smc_cdc_msg_recv (net/smc/smc_cdc.c:430)
smc_cdc_rx_handler (net/smc/smc_cdc.c:502)
smc_wr_rx_tasklet_fn (net/smc/smc_wr.c:445)
tasklet_action_common (kernel/softirq.c:938)
handle_softirqs (kernel/softirq.c:622)
Kernel panic - not syncing: panic_on_warn set

Only SMC-R is affected. The SMC-D receive tasklet is stopped by
tasklet_kill(&conn->rx_tsklet) in smc_conn_free() before the connection
is unregistered, so it cannot run concurrently with the free.

Take the socket reference while still holding conns_lock, so the
registration reference can no longer be the last one, and drop it once
the handler is done.
en
AV:N - The vulnerable handler is driven entirely by a CDC control message sent by the remote SMC-R peer over the RDMA link, with an attacker-chosen `token` field and no local syscall involvement. SMC-R runs over RoCEv2 (IP/UDP-routable, port 4791) with the CLC handshake over plain TCP, and SMC-Rv2 explicitly supports non-local/routed peers, so the attacker need not share an L2 segment.
AC:L - The attacker controls both sides of the race: it chooses when to emit CDC messages and which connection to target (the alert token is disclosed to it in the CLC accept/confirm), and it can drive the teardown side itself via CDC close/abort flags into `smc_close_passive_work()` or a stale seqno with `failover_validation` into `abort_work` -> `smc_conn_kill()`. The race can be retried indefinitely across many connections in the same link group, and was reproduced in practice with soft-RoCE.
PR:N - Establishing an SMC-R connection to a listening SMC socket requires no credentials — SMC has no authentication layer of its own, exactly like plain TCP. Everything after connection establishment (sending CDC messages with a chosen token, signalling close/abort) is available to an unauthenticated peer.
UI:N - The CDC message is processed in a softirq tasklet from the RDMA completion queue with no involvement from any local user or application action. No victim interaction of any kind is needed.
S:U - The corruption is confined to kernel memory within the same security authority; there is no VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary crossed. This is a standard in-kernel use-after-free.
C:H - The freed `smc_sock` is reused type-safely as another live socket, so attacker-supplied cursors applied by `smc_cdc_msg_recv_action()` break the `0 <= bytes_to_rcv <= rmb_desc->len` invariant and make `smc_rx_recvmsg()` hand stale RMB contents to userspace, while the urgent-data path reads `*(base + conn->urg_curs.count - 1)` at an attacker-chosen offset. Once the slab page is reclaimed after the RCU grace period, reuse is unconstrained, giving a general kernel-memory read primitive.
I:H - `sock_hold()` on an already-zero refcount followed by `sock_put()` re-enters `sk_free()`, yielding a double free, and the handler additionally writes `sk_err`/`sk_shutdown`, makes indirect calls through `sk_data_ready()`/`sk_write_space()`, and `queue_work()`s a freed `work_struct`. These are classic heap-spray and control-flow-hijack primitives leading to arbitrary kernel write.
A:H - The reported symptom is `refcount_warn_saturate` from `smc_cdc_msg_recv()`, which is an immediate kernel panic on `panic_on_warn` systems, and dereferencing freed memory in softirq context otherwise oopses. The attacker can trigger it repeatedly without authentication.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

sctp: clear new_transport when removing a peer

sctp_process_asconf_param() stores a newly added peer transport in
asoc->new_transport. After all parameters in the ASCONF chunk have been
processed, sctp_sf_do_asconf() uses this pointer to send a HEARTBEAT to the
new transport.

An authenticated ASCONF from a remote SCTP peer can add a transport and
remove it again with a wildcard DEL-IP parameter in the same chunk. The
wildcard deletion preserves the transport on which the ASCONF arrived, but
removes the newly added transport through
sctp_assoc_del_nonprimary_peers(). The removal does not clear
asoc->new_transport, leaving it pointing to the removed transport.

sctp_sf_do_asconf() then creates a HEARTBEAT whose chunk->transport points
to the removed transport without holding a transport reference. During
local address replacement, src_out_of_asoc_ok keeps this HEARTBEAT on
control_chunk_list. After the transport is freed by RCU, a successful
ASCONF_ACK for the replacement address releases the queued HEARTBEAT and
sctp_outq_select_transport() reads the freed transport's state.

The issue was found during a static audit of SCTP objects. With an
authenticated peer, the reproducer triggered the same KASAN report in 2
of 2 unpatched runs on a KASAN-enabled netdev/main kernel:

BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in sctp_outq_select_transport
Read of size 4 at addr ffff88800b9bd95c by task python3/197

Call Trace:
sctp_outq_select_transport+0x549/0x8b0 [sctp]
sctp_outq_flush+0x306/0x2c60 [sctp]
sctp_transport_immediate_rtx+0xaf/0x260 [sctp]
sctp_process_asconf_ack+0xa48/0xf70 [sctp]

Allocated by task 197:
sctp_transport_new+0x68/0x650 [sctp]
sctp_assoc_add_peer+0x258/0x12a0 [sctp]
sctp_process_asconf+0x5e9/0x1090 [sctp]

Last potentially related work creation:
__call_rcu_common.constprop.0+0x77/0xb70
sctp_assoc_del_nonprimary_peers+0x7c/0xd0 [sctp]
sctp_process_asconf+0xd9c/0x1090 [sctp]

The first invalid access was a four-byte read of transport->state at
net/sctp/outqueue.c:833. The same reproducer completed the full
authenticated ASCONF and local-address replacement sequence with this
change without a KASAN report or oops.

Clear new_transport when its peer is removed, before it can be used to
create the HEARTBEAT.
AV:N - The bug is triggered when a remote SCTP peer sends an authenticated ASCONF chunk that is processed via sctp_rcv() through the state machine into sctp_sf_do_asconf() and sctp_process_asconf(); this is standard network packet handling, not a local syscall or ioctl path.
AC:L - The remote peer fully controls a single ASCONF containing ADD_IP followed by wildcard DEL-IP to add then remove a transport while leaving asoc->new_transport dangling; combined with routine SCTP local address replacement (src_out_of_asoc_ok), the KASAN reproducer hit the UAF in 2/2 runs.
PR:N - Exploitation requires only being an established SCTP association peer sending SCTP-AUTH-protected ASCONF traffic negotiated during the normal handshake (or addip_noauth); no Linux account, capability, or init-namespace privilege is needed on the victim host.
UI:N - No victim user action such as opening a file or mounting a filesystem is required; the kernel automatically processes attacker-crafted ASCONF packets on an existing SCTP association during normal server operation.
S:U - Impact is confined to kernel heap corruption on the vulnerable host (slab UAF on sctp_transport) and potential privilege escalation within that kernel; it does not cross VM, container, or IOMMU security boundaries.
C:H - KASAN reports slab-use-after-free with a 4-byte read of freed sctp_transport->state in sctp_outq_select_transport(); UAF on heap transport objects enables grooming for arbitrary kernel memory disclosure per kernel CVSS guidance.
I:H - The dangling sctp_transport pointer is embedded in a queued HEARTBEAT control chunk without a reference; UAF on this heap object can be leveraged via heap spraying for arbitrary kernel writes and control-flow hijacking, not merely a bounded corruption.
A:H - Dereferencing the freed transport during sctp_outq_flush() causes a reproducible kernel UAF/oops; remote peers can repeatedly trigger this against SCTP endpoints handling ADD-IP traffic, yielding denial of service or crash.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

RDMA/rxe: Fix responder UAF on IB_QP_MAX_DEST_RD_ATOMIC modify_qp

rxe_qp_from_attr() handles IB_QP_MAX_DEST_RD_ATOMIC outside the
IB_QP_STATE path, so it holds no state_lock and runs while the responder
task rxe_receiver() (recv_task on rxe_wq) is live. A modify_qp() setting
only that attribute calls free_rd_atomic_resources() then
alloc_rd_atomic_resources(), swapping qp->resp.resources[] while
rxe_prepare_res()/find_resource() walk it; free_rd_atomic_resources()
also leaves the cached pointer qp->resp.res dangling. A local
unprivileged user can race the free/realloc into a use-after-free in
rxe_receiver() (local DoS).

Drain recv_task around the swap with rxe_disable_task()/rxe_enable_task(),
as rxe_qp_reset() already does when tearing this array down, re-enabling
only after alloc_rd_atomic_resources() succeeds so the responder never
resumes against a NULL qp->resp.resources on the ENOMEM path. Also clear
qp->resp.res in free_rd_atomic_resources(), like the rxe_resp.c
completion paths.

Reproduced under KASAN; the slab-use-after-free in rxe_receiver() is gone.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

openvswitch: Fix CT limit teardown use-after-free

Packet processing uses CT limit state under RCU, while netns teardown
frees that state under ovs_mutex. The CT limit pointer was neither removed
from readers nor protected by a grace period, allowing packet processing to
dereference the freed state.

An unprivileged user can trigger this bug from a user and network
namespace, causing a slab-use-after-free in ovs_ct_execute() when the
netns is torn down.

Publish the CT limit pointer through RCU, remove it before teardown, and
wait for readers before freeing its contents. Keep ovs_mutex around
individual CT limit updates, and use the RCU read-side lock while GET
traverses the RCU-protected limit lists.

Netns teardown detaches the RCU-protected CT limit state in the pernet
.pre_exit callback while holding ovs_mutex. The pernet core guarantees an
RCU grace period between the .pre_exit and .exit callbacks, so the .exit
callback completes the teardown without adding any extra synchronization.

The netlink command handlers do not need NULL checks because the userspace
netlink socket holds an active reference to its network namespace while a
request is processed. The per-netns exit path therefore cannot run
concurrently with SET, DEL, or GET for that socket's namespace.
AV:L - The UAF is reached from the OVS datapath CT commit path (ovs_ct_execute/ovs_ct_check_limit) while the attacker's netns is torn down. Setup uses local genetlink (datapath, CT flow, CT_LIMIT SET) and packet injection via a vport (veth/TUN/internal) or OVS_PACKET_CMD_EXECUTE; this is not a remotely triggered protocol parser.
AC:L - The attacker controls both sides of the race: they enable CT limits, install a CT-commit flow, inject packets so ovs_ct_check_limit runs under RCU, and destroy the netns so ovs_ct_limit_exit kfree()s the same object without a grace period. Success does not depend on victim-only timing.
PR:L - OVS genetlink families are netnsok and use GENL_UNS_ADMIN_PERM, so CAP_NET_ADMIN is checked in the socket's user namespace (unshare -Urn). The fix commit states an unprivileged user can trigger the slab-use-after-free from a user and network namespace.
UI:N - Exploitation needs only the attacker's own netlink setup, packet injection, and netns teardown. No victim action such as mounting a filesystem, opening a file, or clicking a prompt is required.
S:U - This is kernel slab use-after-free in the host Open vSwitch datapath. Impact stays in the same kernel security authority and is not a VM escape, IOMMU/DMA bypass, or other cross-boundary compromise.
C:H - ovs_ct_check_limit/ct_limit_get dereference freed ovs_ct_limit_info and walk its kmalloc'd limits hlist after ovs_ct_limit_exit kfree()s them, a slab UAF that can be reclaimed and used for arbitrary kernel reads.
I:H - With a finite zone limit, nf_conncount_count_skb() inserts into nf_conncount_data after nf_conncount_destroy(); combined with UAF of the limits table this is a write-after-free/heap primitive that can be turned into arbitrary write or control-flow hijack.
A:H - The commit reports a slab-use-after-free in ovs_ct_execute() on netns teardown. UAF of CT-limit and conncount objects can oops/panic the kernel even when not fully exploited for code execution."
