en
AV:A - The bug is in the Bluetooth HCI event handler, triggered by a Command Status event for HCI_Disconnect whose failure status is induced by a peer device terminating the link concurrently with the host's disconnect. Exploitation requires only Bluetooth radio proximity to the target (phones, cars, headsets, laptops), which is CVSS Adjacent.
AC:L - The attacker controls both sides of the race: closing the last L2CAP channel forces hcon->disc_timeout=0 and an immediate host Disconnect, and the attacker then tears down the link-layer connection at that moment so the controller answers Unknown Connection Identifier/Command Disallowed. The attempt costs nothing and can be repeated indefinitely by reconnecting.
PR:N - No credentials or pairing are required — an L2CAP/ISO connection reaches l2cap_conn_add/iso_conn_add before authentication, and no capability check exists on the path. The attacker needs no account or privilege on the target system.
UI:N - The dangling l2cap_conn->hchan and iso_conn->hcon are used by ordinary background traffic — the reported crash occurred in bluetoothd's normal write path — with no victim action needed. The attacker can also trigger the use itself via further protocol activity.
S:U - The freed objects and the resulting corruption are entirely within the kernel's own security authority; no VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary is crossed.
C:H - The freed hci_chan lives in the generic kmalloc-64 cache and hci_send_acl dereferences chan->conn->hdev straight out of it, so a groomed reallocation yields a controlled pointer read of arbitrary kernel memory. Per kernel guidance, use-after-free is scored High confidentiality.
I:H - Beyond the read primitive, hci_queue_acl writes skb list pointers into the freed object's data_q and later code operates on the forged hci_conn, giving heap-spray-driven write and control-flow influence. Use-after-free of a sprayable kmalloc object is scored High integrity.
A:H - The bug reproduces as a KASAN slab-use-after-free in hci_send_acl and as a NULL pointer dereference oops in iso_sock_sendmsg, both fatal to the kernel context. Any kernel oops/panic is High availability.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

vsock: Ignore signal/timeout on connect() if already established

During connect(), acting on a signal/timeout by disconnecting an already
established socket leads to several issues:

1. connect() invoking vsock_transport_cancel_pkt() ->
virtio_transport_purge_skbs() may race with sendmsg() invoking
virtio_transport_get_credit(). This results in a permanently elevated
`vvs->bytes_unsent`. Which, in turn, confuses the SOCK_LINGER handling.

2. connect() resetting a connected socket's state may race with socket
being placed in a sockmap. A disconnected socket remaining in a sockmap
breaks sockmap's assumptions. And gives rise to WARNs.

3. connect() transitioning SS_CONNECTED -> SS_UNCONNECTED allows for a
transport change/drop after TCP_ESTABLISHED. Which poses a problem for
any simultaneous sendmsg() or connect() and may result in a
use-after-free/null-ptr-deref.

Do not disconnect socket on signal/timeout. Keep the logic for unconnected
sockets: they don't linger, can't be placed in a sockmap, are rejected by
sendmsg().

[1]: https://lore.kernel.org/netdev/e07fd95c-9a38-4eea-9638-133e38c2ec9b@rbox.co/
[2]: https://lore.kernel.org/netdev/20250317-vsock-trans-signal-race-v4-0-fc8837f3f1d4@rbox.co/
[3]: https://lore.kernel.org/netdev/60f1b7db-3099-4f6a-875e-af9f6ef194f6@rbox.co/
AV:L - The vulnerability is triggered through AF_VSOCK socket syscalls (connect/sendmsg) plus signal delivery from a local process; per kernel scoring guidance vsock is a local attack surface. No network packet from an unauthenticated remote peer can drive the signal/timeout race.
AC:L - The attacker controls both sides of the race — the listening peer (vsock_loopback/VMADDR_CID_LOCAL requires no VM), the exact moment of connection establishment, the signal storm from a sibling thread, and the concurrent sendmsg()/second connect() — and can retry indefinitely until the window is hit.
PR:L - vsock_create() performs no capability check, so any unprivileged local user (including inside a container) can create AF_VSOCK sockets and reach vsock_connect(). No root, CAP_NET_ADMIN, or namespace trickery is needed.
UI:N - The attacker's own threads perform every step — connect, accept, signal delivery, and the follow-up connect/sendmsg. No victim action is required.
S:U - The corruption and its impact are confined to the kernel's own security authority; there is no guest-to-host or IOMMU boundary crossing involved in the freed vsock transport state.
C:H - The transport change/drop after TCP_ESTABLISHED yields a use-after-free of the kmalloc'd virtio_vsock_sock and a stale transport ops pointer reachable from sendmsg(); heap reclaim of the freed object gives an attacker-controlled read primitive over kernel memory.
I:H - The same use-after-free permits heap spraying over the freed transport state and invocation of function pointers from a stale ops/module reference, providing a write and control-flow hijack primitive as in prior vsock UAF exploits.
A:H - The commit explicitly notes use-after-free/NULL-pointer dereference, plus sockmap WARNs and a permanently elevated bytes_unsent that breaks SOCK_LINGER handling — any of which oops or hang the kernel, and the race can be re-run at will.
AV:L - The bug is reached only through the DRM_IOCTL_VMW_EXECBUF ioctl on the local vmwgfx device/render node (/dev/dri/renderD*), requiring local system access. There is no network or remote path into the command verifier.
AC:L - The attacker fully and deterministically controls header->size in the command stream they submit; setting it to 0xFFFFFFF8..0xFFFFFFFF reliably wraps the 32-bit size computation and bypasses the size_remaining check every time. No race, timing window, or uncontrollable precondition is involved.
PR:L - VMW_EXECBUF is declared DRM_RENDER_ALLOW and vmwgfx sets DRIVER_RENDER, so no DRM master or authentication is needed — any unprivileged local user with access to the render node (standard for graphics/desktop users and containers in VMware guests) can submit commands.
UI:N - The attacker triggers the flaw entirely on their own by issuing the execbuf ioctl with a crafted SVGA3D command header. No victim action or interaction is required.
S:U - The integer overflow and the resulting out-of-bounds accesses occur within the guest kernel's own address space and are confined to the kernel's security authority. No hypervisor, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary is crossed by the kernel-side defect itself.
C:H - The unchecked header->size drives pointer arithmetic in vmw_cmd_dma(), vmw_cmd_draw(), and vmw_cmd_tex_state(), producing large out-of-bounds reads of adjacent kernel memory whose contents are interpreted as resource handles; success/failure of vmw_user_resource_lookup_handle() forms a scanning oracle over kernel heap contents, so arbitrary kernel memory disclosure is achievable.
I:H - The same overflow yields out-of-bounds writes — vmw_cmd_dma() writes bo_size into suffix->maximumOffset past the buffer, and OOB-derived relocation offsets cause vmw_resource_relocations_apply() to write 32-bit resource IDs outside the command buffer. Controlled heap corruption of this kind is a standard path to privilege escalation.
A:H - A header->size of 0xFFFFFFF8 makes *size zero, causing vmw_cmd_check_all() to spin forever while holding dev_priv->cmdbuf_mutex, and the far out-of-bounds reads past a vmalloc'd bounce buffer hit a guard page and oops the kernel. Either outcome is a full denial of service."
