Title
nfc: llcp: fix nfc_llcp_setsockopt() unsafe copies
Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
nfc: llcp: fix nfc_llcp_setsockopt() unsafe copies
syzbot reported unsafe calls to copy_from_sockptr() [1]
Use copy_safe_from_sockptr() instead.
AV:L - The over-read is triggered exclusively through the local `setsockopt(2)` syscall on an AF_NFC/LLCP socket (`__sys_setsockopt` → `do_sock_setsockopt` → `nfc_llcp_setsockopt`); no NFC frame or other remote-peer data reaches this code, so a remote or adjacent NFC peer cannot drive it.
AC:L - The attacker fully controls the only trigger condition — passing `optlen` smaller than `sizeof(u32)` — and the 4-byte read happens deterministically on every call, with no race or memory layout condition outside the attacker's influence.
PR:L - `llcp_sock_create()` checks `CAP_NET_RAW` only for `SOCK_RAW`, so any unprivileged local user can `socket(AF_NFC, SOCK_STREAM, NFC_SOCKPROTO_LLCP)` and immediately call setsockopt while the socket is in `LLCP_CLOSED`. No capability, namespace privilege, or NFC hardware is needed to reach the vulnerable copy.
UI:N - A single attacker-issued syscall sequence reaches the flaw; no administrator or other user has to open, mount, or configure anything.
S:U - The out-of-bounds read stays within the kernel's own memory and the affected NFC socket state, with no crossing of a VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary.
C:H - This is a kernel slab out-of-bounds read (KASAN-confirmed) of adjacent heap contents, and the disclosed value is partially exfiltrable to userspace: bytes past the buffer land in `opt`, gate control flow via the `LLCP_MAX_RW`/`LLCP_MAX_MIUX` checks, and are stored into `llcp_sock->rw`/`miux` where `nfc_llcp_getsockopt()` returns them, giving a repeatable heap-content oracle.
I:N - The defect is purely a read; nothing is written outside any object, and the only values stored (`llcp_sock->rw`, `llcp_sock->miux`) remain inside their validated ranges and are settable legitimately by the same user anyway.
A:H - The read walks off the end of a small `kmalloc()` buffer, which on KASAN/SLUB_DEBUG/`panic_on_warn` or MTE-hardened kernels (e.g. Android) produces a fatal report rather than a recoverable error, and the syscall can be repeated at will by an unprivileged user.
Android) produces a fatal report rather than a recoverable error, and the syscall can be repeated at will by an unprivileged user."

The MITRE ATT&CK techniques below are AI-generated suggestions, inferred from the description of the
vulnerability by the CIRCL/vulnerability-attack-technique-classification-roberta-base
model, served locally by ML-Gateway.
They have not been verified by an analyst and are provided for guidance only.
The approach is described in our paper Mapping CVEs to MITRE ATT&CK Techniques: A Curated Gold-Set Classifier and the Limits of LLM-Assisted Label Expansion.

Vulnerabilities whose description is nearest to this one in the vector space of the CIRCL/vulnerability-attack-technique-biencoder model. This is a similarity search over the bi-encoder space (plain cosine), not a classification, and it has no measured accuracy.
