    Title
Gotenberg: Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition')
    Summary
Gotenberg is a Docker-powered stateless API for PDF files. From 8.10.0 until 8.33.0, the newContext function in pkg/modules/api/context.go starts one errgroup.Go goroutine for each multipart downloadFrom entry and allows those goroutines to concurrently write to the shared ctx.files, ctx.diskToOriginal, and ctx.filesByField maps and slices. Go maps and slices are not safe for concurrent mutation, so a crafted multipart request containing many downloadFrom entries can trigger a data race and terminate the process with a fatal concurrent map writes runtime error. The default configuration enables downloadFrom and disables authentication, allowing an unauthenticated remote attacker to crash an exposed conversion service and cause a denial of service. This issue is fixed in version 8.33.0.

    Title
    Gotenberg: SSRF deny-list bypass in IsPublicIP via IPv6 6to4 / NAT64 / site-local prefixes
    Summary
Gotenberg is a Docker-powered stateless API for PDF files. In 8.32.0 and earlier, the IsPublicIP function in pkg/gotenberg/outbound.go does not reject the 2002::/16 6to4 prefix, the 64:ff9b::/96 and 64:ff9b:1::/48 NAT64 prefixes, the fec0::/10 deprecated site-local prefix, Teredo, and other transition prefixes that can embed or route to non-public IPv4 destinations. The addr.Unmap operation only handles IPv4-mapped IPv6 addresses, so a crafted DNS AAAA record can cause the outbound HTTP client to treat an address wrapping an internal destination such as 169.254.169.254 as public. An unauthenticated attacker can use a conversion route with WithDenyPrivateIPs enabled to reach cloud metadata services, and the Chromium URL conversion route can return the internal response as a PDF, potentially exposing cloud credentials. Exploitation requires a deployment whose host routes the relevant IPv6 prefix, such as a dual-stack or NAT64-enabled environment. This issue is fixed in version 8.33.0.

    CVE-2026-44829 (GCVE-0-2026-44829)

    Vulnerability from nvd – Published: 2026-08-19 14:35 – Updated: 2026-08-19 18:19

    Title
Gotenberg: Path traversal in zip entry name via Windows-style separators in upload filename
    Summary
Gotenberg is a Docker-powered stateless API for PDF files. In 8.32.0 and earlier, filename handling in pkg/modules/api/context.go uses filepath.Base on Linux, which does not treat backslashes as path separators, so a multipart filename containing Windows-style parent directory components survives sanitization. The original filename flows through ctx.diskToOriginal and the multi-output PDF routes into archives.FilesFromDisk and archives.Zip.Archive as the generated zip entry name. A remote attacker can submit a name such as ........\Windows\System32\evil.pdf through an upload or an upstream downloadFrom Content-Disposition header, and a Windows archive extractor can write the resulting file outside the intended extraction directory. The affected paths include /forms/pdfengines/split and other multi-output PDF, LibreOffice, and conversion routes, and exploitation can cause arbitrary file writes on a downstream Windows system when a user or process extracts the returned archive. This issue is fixed in version 8.33.0.

    Title
Gotenberg: SSRF via LibreOffice document processing
    Summary
Gotenberg is a Docker-powered stateless API for PDF files. Prior to 8.34.0, Gotenberg's /forms/libreoffice/convert endpoint allows a specially crafted document to cause LibreOffice to automatically retrieve external HTTP(S) resources and local file resources during document conversion, enabling blind SSRF and limited local file disclosure via linked image resource loading. This issue is fixed in version 8.34.0.

    Title
Gotenberg: Chromium URL conversion routes read arbitrary files under /tmp via file:// scheme
    Summary
Gotenberg is a Docker-powered stateless API for PDF files. Prior to 8.32.0, the /forms/chromium/convert/url and /forms/chromium/screenshot/url routes accept url=file:///tmp/... from anonymous callers. The default Chromium deny-list intentionally exempts file:///tmp/ so HTML/Markdown routes can load their own request-local assets, and those routes apply a per-request AllowedFilePrefixes guard to scope the read. The URL routes never set AllowedFilePrefixes, so the scope guard silently skips. Alice enumerates /tmp/, walks Gotenberg's per-request working directories, and reads the raw source files of other in-flight conversions as rendered PDF output. This vulnerability is fixed in 8.32.0.

    CVE-2026-42596 (GCVE-0-2026-42596)

    Vulnerability from nvd – Published: 2026-05-14 15:19 – Updated: 2026-05-15 16:04

    Title
Gotenberg: Unauthenticated SSRF via default deny-list bypass in downloadFrom and webhook
    Summary
Gotenberg is a Docker-powered stateless API for PDF files. Prior to 8.31.0, the default deny-lists used by Gotenberg's downloadFrom feature and webhook feature are bypassable. Because the filter is regex-based and case-sensitive, an unauthenticated attacker can supply URLs such as http://[::ffff:127.0.0.1]:... and reach loopback or private HTTP services that the default deny-list is intended to block. This crosses a real security boundary because an external caller can force the server to make outbound requests to internal-only targets. This vulnerability is fixed in 8.31.0.

    Title
Gotenberg: Server-Side Request Forgery via Chromium URL Endpoint with Redirect-Based Deny-List Bypass
    Summary
Gotenberg is a Docker-powered stateless API for PDF files. Prior to 8.32.0, Gotenberg's Chromium URL-to-PDF endpoint (/forms/chromium/convert/url) has no default protection against HTTP/HTTPS-based SSRF. The default deny-list regex only blocks file:// URIs. An unauthenticated attacker can point Chromium at any internal IP — including loopback, RFC 1918 ranges, and cloud metadata endpoints — and receive the response rendered as a PDF. Additionally, even when operators configure a custom deny-list, the protection is bypassed via HTTP redirects. Gotenberg's Chromium instance follows 302 redirects from an attacker-controlled external URL to internal targets without re-validating the redirect destination against the deny-list. This vulnerability is fixed in 8.32.0.

The default deny-list regex only blocks file:// URIs. An unauthenticated attacker can point Chromium at any internal IP \u2014 including loopback, RFC 1918 ranges, and cloud metadata endpoints \u2014 and receive the response rendered as a PDF. Additionally, even when operators configure a custom deny-list, the protection is bypassed via HTTP redirects. Gotenberg\u0027s Chromium instance follows 302 redirects from an attacker-controlled external URL to internal targets without re-validating the redirect destination against the deny-list. CVE-2026-42594 (GCVE-0-2026-42594)

    Vulnerability from nvd – Published: 2026-05-14 15:32 – Updated: 2026-05-16 00:34
    VLAI
    Title
Gotenberg: Unauthenticated denial of service via echo.Context pool reuse in webhook async goroutine
    Summary
Gotenberg is a Docker-powered stateless API for PDF files. Prior to 8.32.0, the webhook middleware spawns a goroutine that holds a reference to the request's echo.Context after the synchronous handler returns ErrAsyncProcess and Echo recycles the context back to its sync.Pool. When a concurrent request claims the recycled context, c.Reset() clears the store. If the webhook goroutine reaches hardTimeoutMiddleware at that moment, an unchecked type assertion on a nil store entry panics outside any recover() scope, crashing the Gotenberg process. Any anonymous caller reaches the webhook path (default webhook-deny-list filters only the webhook destination, not the submitter). A single-source stress of ~24 webhook requests plus ~60 GET /version requests crashes the process in about two seconds. This vulnerability is fixed in 8.32.0.

    Title
Gotenberg: Arbitrary PDF read via stampExpression and watermarkExpression in merge, split, and convert routes
    Summary
Gotenberg is a Docker-powered stateless API for PDF files. Prior to 8.32.0, pdfengines/merge, pdfengines/split, libreoffice/convert, chromium/convert/url, chromium/convert/html, and chromium/convert/markdown accept stampSource=pdf + stampExpression=/path and watermarkSource=pdf + watermarkExpression=/path from anonymous callers. The dedicated stamp/watermark routes require an uploaded file when the source type is image or pdf; these six routes only overwrite the expression when a file is uploaded, leaving the user-controlled path intact when no file is attached. pdfcpu opens the path and composites its pages onto the output PDF, which returns to the caller. An attacker reads any PDF the Gotenberg process can access on the container filesystem. This vulnerability is fixed in 8.32.0.

    CVE-2026-42592 (GCVE-0-2026-42592)

    Vulnerability from nvd – Published: 2026-05-14 15:30 – Updated: 2026-05-14 18:14

    Title
Gotenberg: DNS rebinding bypasses SSRF validation on Chromium URL conversion routes
    Summary
Gotenberg is a Docker-powered stateless API for PDF files. Prior to 8.32.0, FilterOutboundURL resolves the hostname, checks the resolved IPs against the private-address deny-list, and returns only the error. It discards the resolved addresses. Chromium later performs its own DNS resolution when it navigates to the URL. An attacker who controls DNS for a hostname with a short TTL returns a public IP on the first query (Gotenberg allows) and a private IP on the second query (Chromium connects to the attacker-chosen internal address). The CDP Fetch.requestPaused handler re-checks the URL but runs its own DNS resolution, leaving a timing window before Chromium's actual TCP connect. The rendered internal service response returns to the caller as a PDF. This vulnerability is fixed in 8.32.0.

    Title
Gotenberg: ExifTool group-prefix syntax bypasses dangerous-tag blocklist
    Summary
Gotenberg is a Docker-powered stateless API for PDF files. Prior to 8.30.0, The ExifTool metadata write blocklist in Gotenberg can be bypassed using ExifTool's group-prefix syntax, enabling arbitrary file rename, move, hardlink, and symlink creation on the server. ExifTool supports group-prefix syntax where File:FileName is processed identically to FileName -- the prefix is stripped by SetNewValue in Writer.pl before tag matching. The safeKeyPattern regex (^[a-zA-Z0-9\-_.:]+$) allows colons, so prefixed tag names pass validation. Any prefix works: File:FileName, System:Directory, a:HardLink, etc. Additionally, FilePermissions, FileUserID, and FileGroupID pseudo-tags are not blocked at all and can modify file attributes without any prefix. This vulnerability is fixed in 8.30.0.

    Title
Gotenberg: Unauthenticated RCE via ExifTool Metadata Key Injection
    Summary
Gotenberg is a Docker-powered stateless API for PDF files. Prior to 8.31.0, Gotenberg's /forms/pdfengines/metadata/write HTTP endpoint accepts a JSON metadata object and passes its keys directly to ExifTool via the go-exiftool library. No validation is performed on key characters. A \n embedded in a JSON key splits the ExifTool stdin stream into a new argument line, allowing an attacker to inject arbitrary ExifTool flags — including -if, which evaluates Perl expressions. This achieves unauthenticated OS command execution in a single HTTP request. The response is HTTP 200 with a valid PDF, making the attack transparent to basic monitoring. This vulnerability is fixed in 8.31.0.

    Title
Gotenberg: ExifTool Dangerous Tag Blocklist Bypass via Group-Prefixed Tag Names Allows Arbitrary File Rename and Move
    Summary
Gotenberg is a Docker-powered stateless API for PDF files. Prior to 8.31.0, Gotenberg only checks if the tag is exactly FileName, so System:FileName slips right through and ExifTool happily renames the file. This allows remote attackers to move, rename, and change permissions for arbitrary files. This vulnerability is fixed in 8.31.0.

    CVE-2026-40281 (GCVE-0-2026-40281)

    Vulnerability from nvd – Published: 2026-05-06 20:46 – Updated: 2026-05-07 12:33

    Title
Gotenberg vulnerable to argument injection via newlines in ExifTool metadata values
    Summary
Gotenberg is a Docker-powered stateless API for PDF files. In versions 8.30.1 and earlier, the metadata write endpoint validates metadata keys for control characters but leaves metadata values unsanitized. A newline character in a metadata value splits the ExifTool stdin line into two separate arguments, allowing injection of arbitrary ExifTool pseudo-tags such as -FileName, -Directory, -SymLink, and -HardLink. This is a bypass of the incomplete key-sanitization fix introduced in v8.30.1. An unauthenticated attacker can rename or move any PDF being processed to an arbitrary path in the container filesystem, overwrite arbitrary files, or create symlinks and hard links at arbitrary paths.

    CVE-2026-44829 (GCVE-0-2026-44829)

    Vulnerability from cvelistv5 – Published: 2026-08-19 14:35 – Updated: 2026-08-19 18:19

A remote attacker can submit a name such as ........\\Windows\\System32\\evil.pdf through an upload or an upstream downloadFrom Content-Disposition header, and a Windows archive extractor can write the resulting file outside the intended extraction directory. The affected paths include /forms/pdfengines/split and other multi-output PDF, LibreOffice, and conversion routes, and exploitation can cause arbitrary file writes on a downstream Windows system when a user or process extracts the returned archive. This issue is fixed in version 8.33.0."

This issue is fixed in version 8.33.0."

    Title
Gotenberg: SSRF via LibreOffice document processing
    Summary
Gotenberg is a Docker-powered stateless API for PDF files. Prior to 8.34.0, Gotenberg's /forms/libreoffice/convert endpoint allows a specially crafted document to cause LibreOffice to automatically retrieve external HTTP(S) resources and local file resources during document conversion, enabling blind SSRF and limited local file disclosure via linked image resource loading. This issue is fixed in version 8.34.0.

    CVE-2026-42594 (GCVE-0-2026-42594)

    Vulnerability from cvelistv5 – Published: 2026-05-14 15:32 – Updated: 2026-05-16 00:34
    VLAI

The CDP Fetch.requestPaused handler re-checks the URL but runs its own DNS resolution, leaving a timing window before Chromium\u0027s actual TCP connect. The rendered internal service response returns to the caller as a PDF. This vulnerability is fixed in 8.32.0."

    Title
Gotenberg: Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) in github.com/gotenberg/gotenberg/v8
    Summary
Gotenberg is a Docker-powered stateless API for PDF files. Prior to 8.32.0, the LibreOffice conversion endpoint (/forms/libreoffice/convert) passes uploaded documents directly to LibreOffice without inspecting their content. LibreOffice then fetches any embedded external URLs on its own, completely bypassing the SSRF filters. This vulnerability is fixed in 8.32.0.

    Vulnerability from cvelistv5 – Published: 2026-05-14 15:19 – Updated: 2026-05-15 16:04

    Vulnerability from cvelistv5 – Published: 2026-05-14 15:11 – Updated: 2026-05-14 18:59
    VLAI

    CVE-2026-40281 (GCVE-0-2026-40281)

    Vulnerability from cvelistv5 – Published: 2026-05-06 20:46 – Updated: 2026-05-07 12:33
    VLAI
