Junos OS: MX Series: In specific DHCPv6 scenarios jdhcpd memory increases continuously with subscriber logouts
Summary
A Missing Release of Memory after Effective Lifetime vulnerability in the DHCP daemon (jdhcpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series, allows an adjacent, unauthenticated attacker to cause a memory leak, that will eventually cause a complete Denial-of-Service (DoS). In a DHCPv6 over PPPoE, or DHCPv6 over VLAN with Active lease query or Bulk lease query scenario, every subscriber logout will leak a small amount of memory. When all available memory has been exhausted, jdhcpd will crash and restart which causes a complete service impact until the process has recovered. The memory usage of jdhcpd can be monitored with: user@host> show system processes extensive | match jdhcpd This issue affects Junos OS: * all versions before 22.4R3-S1, * 23.2 versions before 23.2R2, * 23.4 versions before 23.4R2.

Title
LTI JupyterHub Authenticator: Unbounded Memory Growth via Nonce Storage (Denial of Service)
Summary
LTI JupyterHub Authenticator is a JupyterHub authenticator for LTI. Prior to version 1.6.3, the LTI 1.1 validator stores OAuth nonces in a class-level dictionary that grows without bounds. Nonces are added before signature validation, so an attacker with knowledge of a valid consumer key can send repeated requests with unique nonces to gradually exhaust server memory, causing a denial of service. This issue has been patched in version 1.6.3.

libgphoto2 has memory leak in ptp_unpack_Sony_DPD() secondary enumeration list in ptp-pack.c
Summary
libgphoto2 is a camera access and control library. Versions up to and including 2.5.33 have a memory leak in `ptp_unpack_Sony_DPD()` in `camlibs/ptp2/ptp-pack.c` (lines 884–885). When processing a secondary enumeration list (introduced in 2024+ Sony cameras), the function overwrites dpd->FORM.Enum.SupportedValue with a new calloc() without freeing the previous allocation from line 857. The original array and any string values it contains are leaked on every property descriptor parse. Commit 404ff02c75f3cb280196fc260a63c4d26cf1a8f6 fixes the issue.

Title
TCP: remotely exploitable DoS vector (mbuf leak)
Summary
When a challenge ACK is to be sent tcp_respond() constructs and sends the challenge ACK and consumes the mbuf that is passed in. When no challenge ACK should be sent the function returns and leaks the mbuf. If an attacker is either on path with an established TCP connection, or can themselves establish a TCP connection, to an affected FreeBSD machine, they can easily craft and send packets which meet the challenge ACK criteria and cause the FreeBSD host to leak an mbuf for each crafted packet in excess of the configured rate limit settings i.e. with default settings, crafted packets in excess of the first 5 sent within a 1s period will leak an mbuf. Technically, off-path attackers can also exploit this problem by guessing the IP addresses, TCP port numbers and in some cases the sequence numbers of established connections and spoofing packets towards a FreeBSD machine, but this is harder to do effectively.

When no challenge ACK should be sent the function returns and leaks the mbuf.\n\nIf an attacker is either on path with an established TCP connection, or can themselves establish a TCP connection, to an affected FreeBSD machine, they can easily craft and send packets which meet the challenge ACK criteria and cause the FreeBSD host to leak an mbuf for each crafted packet in excess of the configured rate limit settings i.e. with default settings, crafted packets in excess of the first 5 sent within a 1s period will leak an mbuf.\n\nTechnically, off-path attackers can also exploit this problem by guessing the IP addresses, TCP port numbers and in some cases the sequence numbers of established connections and spoofing packets towards a FreeBSD machine, but this is harder to do effectively."

Description:

  • Choose a language or tool that provides automatic memory management, or makes manual memory management less error-prone.
  • For example, glibc in Linux provides protection against free of invalid pointers.
  • When using Xcode to target OS X or iOS, enable automatic reference counting (ARC) [REF-391].
  • To help correctly and consistently manage memory when programming in C++, consider using a smart pointer class such as std::auto_ptr (defined by ISO/IEC ISO/IEC 14882:2003), std::shared_ptr and std::unique_ptr (specified by an upcoming revision of the C++ standard, informally referred to as C++ 1x), or equivalent solutions such as Boost.
