Title
Event Tickets and Registration <= 5.27.4 - Missing Authorization to Unauthenticated Stripe Credentials Update
Summary
The Event Tickets and Registration plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized modification of data due to a missing capability check on the Stripe OAuth return endpoint in all versions up to, and including, 5.27.4. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to overwrite the site's Stripe merchant credentials (access tokens, publishable keys, and account ID), diverting all subsequent payment processing to the attacker's Stripe account.

Title
OneSignal – Web Push Notifications <= 3.8.0 - Missing Authorization to Authenticated (Subscriber+) Post Meta Deletion via 'post_id'
Summary
The OneSignal – Web Push Notifications plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to authorization bypass in versions up to, and including, 3.8.0. This is due to the plugin not properly verifying that a user is authorized to perform an action. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to delete OneSignal metadata for arbitrary posts.

Title
Total Upkeep <= 1.17.1 - Missing Authorization to Unauthenticated Rollback Cancellation
Summary
The Total Upkeep – WordPress Backup Plugin plus Restore & Migrate by BoldGrid plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized modification of data due to a missing capability check on the 'wp_ajax_cli_cancel' function in all versions up to, and including, 1.17.1. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to cancel a pending rollback, potentially preventing a WordPress installation from automatically reverting a failed update.

Title
FormGent <= 1.9.2- Missing Authorization to Unauthenticated Arbitrary File Deletion via 'file_token' Parameter
Summary
The FormGent plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized arbitrary file deletion due to a missing capability check on the /wp-json/formgent/responses/attachments REST API endpoint in all versions up to, and including, 1.9.2 This is due to the REST API route being registered without any authentication middleware in routes/rest/api.php. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to delete arbitrary files within the formgent uploads directory. Additionally, on Linux servers where the wp-content/uploads/formgent directory does not yet exist (the default state after plugin installation), the path traversal protection can be bypassed, enabling deletion of arbitrary files including wp-config.php which can lead to complete site takeover via a fresh WordPress installation.

Title
Product Filter for WooCommerce by WBW <= 3.1.2 - Missing Authorization to Unauthenticated Filter Data Deletion via TRUNCATE TABLE
Summary
The Product Filter for WooCommerce by WBW plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized data loss due to a missing capability check in all versions up to, and including, 3.1.2. This is due to the plugin's MVC framework dynamically registering unauthenticated AJAX handlers via `wp_ajax_nopriv_` hooks without verifying user capabilities, combined with the base controller's `__call()` magic method forwarding undefined method calls to the model layer, and the `havePermissions()` method defaulting to `true` when no permissions are explicitly defined. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to truncate the plugin's `wp_wpf_filters` database table via a crafted AJAX request with `action=delete`, permanently destroying all filter configurations.

This is due to the plugin\u0027s MVC framework dynamically registering unauthenticated AJAX handlers via `wp_ajax_nopriv_` hooks without verifying user capabilities, combined with the base controller\u0027s `__call()` magic method forwarding undefined method calls to the model layer, and the `havePermissions()` method defaulting to `true` when no permissions are explicitly defined. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to truncate the plugin\u0027s `wp_wpf_filters` database table via a crafted AJAX request with `action=delete`, permanently destroying all filter configurations."

Title
Smart Slider 3 <= 3.5.1.33 - Authenticated (Subscriber+) Arbitrary File Read via actionExportAll
Summary
The Smart Slider 3 plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Arbitrary File Read in all versions up to, and including, 3.5.1.33 via the 'actionExportAll' function. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to read the contents of arbitrary files on the server, which can contain sensitive information.

Title
Media Library Assistant <= 3.33 - Missing Authorization to Authenticated (Subscriber+) Arbitrary Attachment Taxonomy Modification
Summary
The Media Library Assistant plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized modification of data due to a missing capability check on the mla_update_compat_fields_action() function in all versions up to, and including, 3.33. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to modify taxonomy terms on arbitrary attachments.

Mitigation
Architecture and Design
  • Divide the product into anonymous, normal, privileged, and administrative areas. Reduce the attack surface by carefully mapping roles with data and functionality. Use role-based access control (RBAC) [REF-229] to enforce the roles at the appropriate boundaries.
  • Note that this approach may not protect against horizontal authorization, i.e., it will not protect a user from attacking others with the same role.
Mitigation
Architecture and Design

Ensure that access control checks are performed related to the business logic. These checks may be different than the access control checks that are applied to more generic resources such as files, connections, processes, memory, and database records. For example, a database may restrict access for medical records to a specific database user, but each record might only be intended to be accessible to the patient and the patient's doctor [REF-7].

Mitigation MIT-4.4
Architecture and Design

Strategy: Libraries or Frameworks

  • Use a vetted library or framework that does not allow this weakness to occur or provides constructs that make this weakness easier to avoid.
  • For example, consider using authorization frameworks such as the JAAS Authorization Framework [REF-233] and the OWASP ESAPI Access Control feature [REF-45].
Mitigation
Architecture and Design
  • For web applications, make sure that the access control mechanism is enforced correctly at the server side on every page. Users should not be able to access any unauthorized functionality or information by simply requesting direct access to that page.
  • One way to do this is to ensure that all pages containing sensitive information are not cached, and that all such pages restrict access to requests that are accompanied by an active and authenticated session token associated with a user who has the required permissions to access that page.
Mitigation
System Configuration Installation

Use the access control capabilities of your operating system and server environment and define your access control lists accordingly. Use a "default deny" policy when defining these ACLs.

CAPEC-665: Exploitation of Thunderbolt Protection Flaws

An adversary leverages a firmware weakness within the Thunderbolt protocol, on a computing device to manipulate Thunderbolt controller firmware in order to exploit vulnerabilities in the implementation of authorization and verification schemes within Thunderbolt protection mechanisms. Upon gaining physical access to a target device, the adversary conducts high-level firmware manipulation of the victim Thunderbolt controller SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) flash, through the use of a SPI Programing device and an external Thunderbolt device, typically as the target device is booting up. If successful, this allows the adversary to modify memory, subvert authentication mechanisms, spoof identities and content, and extract data and memory from the target device. Currently 7 major vulnerabilities exist within Thunderbolt protocol with 9 attack vectors as noted in the Execution Flow.
