TensorFlow vulnerable to `CHECK` fail in `EmptyTensorList`
Details

Impact

If EmptyTensorList receives an input element_shape with more than one dimension, it gives a CHECK fail that can be used to trigger a denial of service attack.

Patches

The fix will be included in TensorFlow 2.10.0. We will also cherrypick this commit on TensorFlow 2.9.1, TensorFlow 2.8.1, and TensorFlow 2.7.2, as these are also affected and still in supported range.

`CHECK`-fails when building invalid tensor shapes in Tensorflow
Details

Impact

Multiple operations in TensorFlow can be used to trigger a denial of service via CHECK-fails (i.e., assertion failures). This is similar to TFSA-2021-198 (CVE-2021-41197) and has similar fixes.

Patches

We have patched the reported issues in multiple GitHub commits. It is possible that other similar instances exist in TensorFlow, we will issue fixes as these are discovered.

The fix will be included in TensorFlow 2.8.0. We will also cherrypick this commit on TensorFlow 2.7.1, TensorFlow 2.6.3, and TensorFlow 2.5.3, as these are also affected and still in supported range.

A reachable assertion vulnerability exists in the Matter SDK (connectedhomeip) before 1.4.2, specifically within the Level Control cluster's periodic server tick logic. When a MoveToLevel command is sent and immediately followed by a write of OperationMode=2 (in the Pump Configuration and Control cluster), the server tick function violates the assertion currentLevel < maxLevel, resulting in a crash. This can be exploited remotely without authentication to cause denial of service. Affected versions include 1.3 and 1.4 (commit ab3d5ae).

Details

An assertion failure issue was found in the Network Block Device(NBD) Server in all QEMU versions before QEMU 5.0.1. This flaw occurs when an nbd-client sends a spec-compliant request that is near the boundary of maximum permitted request length. A remote nbd-client could use this flaw to crash the qemu-nbd server resulting in a denial of service.
