All versions of Samba from 4.0.0 onwards are vulnerable to a denial of service attack when the RPC spoolss service is configured to be run as an external daemon. Missing input sanitization checks on some of the input parameters to spoolss RPC calls could cause the print spooler service to crash.

The panic happens in hfi1_ipoib_txreq_deinit() because there is a NULL deref when hfi1_ipoib_netdev_dtor() is called in this error case.

hfi1_ipoib_txreq_init() and hfi1_ipoib_rxq_init() are self unwinding so fix by adjusting the error paths accordingly.

Other changes: - hfi1_ipoib_free_rdma_netdev() is deleted including the free_netdev() since the netdev core code deletes calls free_netdev() - The switch to the accelerated entrances is moved to the success path.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2025-04-08 09:31 – Updated: 2025-10-28 18:30
VLAI
Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

devlink: fix xa_alloc_cyclic() error handling

In case of returning 1 from xa_alloc_cyclic() (wrapping) ERR_PTR(1) will be returned, which will cause IS_ERR() to be false. Which can lead to dereference not allocated pointer (rel).

Fix it by checking if err is lower than zero.

This wasn't found in real usecase, only noticed. Credit to Pierre.

Details

A NULL pointer dereference flaw was found in the udevConnectListAllInterfaces() function in libvirt. This issue can occur when detaching a host interface while at the same time collecting the list of interfaces via virConnectListAllInterfaces API. This flaw could be used to perform a denial of service attack by causing the libvirt daemon to crash.

Mitigation MIT-56
Implementation

For any pointers that could have been modified or provided from a function that can return NULL, check the pointer for NULL before use. When working with a multithreaded or otherwise asynchronous environment, ensure that proper locking APIs are used to lock before the check, and unlock when it has finished [REF-1484].

Mitigation
Requirements

Select a programming language that is not susceptible to these issues.

Mitigation
Implementation

Check the results of all functions that return a value and verify that the value is non-null before acting upon it.

Mitigation
Architecture and Design

Identify all variables and data stores that receive information from external sources, and apply input validation to make sure that they are only initialized to expected values.

Mitigation
Implementation

Explicitly initialize all variables and other data stores, either during declaration or just before the first usage.

No CAPEC attack patterns related to this CWE.
