Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-05-21 18:31 – Updated: 2024-12-31 21:30In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/radeon: fix a possible null pointer dereference
In radeon_fp_native_mode(), the return value of drm_mode_duplicate() is assigned to mode, which will lead to a NULL pointer dereference on failure of drm_mode_duplicate(). Add a check to avoid npd.
The failure status of drm_cvt_mode() on the other path is checked too.

GHSA-MC9R-5HJ8-M6XW
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2025-05-01 15:31 – Updated: 2025-11-10 21:30In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm: Fix potential null-ptr-deref in drm_vblank_destroy_worker()
drm_vblank_init() call drmm_add_action_or_reset() with drm_vblank_init_release() as action. If __drmm_add_action() failed, will directly call drm_vblank_init_release() with the vblank whose worker is NULL. As the resule, a null-ptr-deref will happen in kthread_destroy_worker(). Add the NULL check before calling drm_vblank_destroy_worker().

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-04-03 15:30 – Updated: 2025-02-28 00:30In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
tracing/timerlat: Move hrtimer_init to timerlat_fd open()
Currently, the timerlat's hrtimer is initialized at the first read of timerlat_fd, and destroyed at close(). It works, but it causes an error if the user program open() and close() the file without reading.
Here's an example:
# echo NO_OSNOISE_WORKLOAD > /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/osnoise/options # echo timerlat > /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/current_tracer
# cat < ./timerlat_load.py # !/usr/bin/env python3
timerlat_fd = open("/sys/kernel/tracing/osnoise/per_cpu/cpu0/timerlat_fd", 'r') timerlat_fd.close(); EOF
# ./taskset -c 0 ./timerlat_load.py

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-05-19 09:34 – Updated: 2024-12-30 18:30In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
aio: Fix null ptr deref in aio_complete() wakeup
list_del_init_careful() needs to be the last access to the wait queue entry - it effectively unlocks access.
Previously, finish_wait() would see the empty list head and skip taking the lock, and then we'd return - but the completion path would still attempt to do the wakeup after the task_struct pointer had been overwritten.

Commit c7423dbdbc9e ("ima: Handle -ESTALE returned by ima_filter_rule_match()") introduced call to ima_lsm_copy_rule within a RCU read-side critical section which contains kmalloc with GFP_KERNEL. This implies a possible sleep and violates limitations of RCU read-side critical sections on non-PREEMPT systems.
Sleeping within RCU read-side critical section might cause synchronize_rcu() returning early and break RCU protection, allowing a UAF to happen.
The root cause of this issue could be described as follows: | Thread A | Thread B | | |ima_match_policy | | | rcu_read_lock | |ima_lsm_update_rule | | | synchronize_rcu | | | | kmalloc(GFP_KERNEL)| | | sleep | ==> synchronize_rcu returns early | kfree(entry) | | | | entry = entry->next| ==> UAF happens and entry now becomes NULL (or could be anything). | | entry->action | ==> Accessing entry might cause panic.
To fix this issue, we are converting all kmalloc that is called within RCU read-side critical section to use GFP_ATOMIC.

It appears that sometimes it is possible that f2fs_put_super() is called before all node page reads are completed. Adding a call to f2fs_wait_on_all_pages() for F2FS_RD_NODE fixes the problem.

GHSA-MCP5-GM6H-CFH4
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2025-09-22 21:30 – Updated: 2025-09-22 21:30In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
crypto: octeontx2 - remove CONFIG_DM_CRYPT check
No issues were found while using the driver with dm-crypt enabled. So CONFIG_DM_CRYPT check in the driver can be removed.
This also fixes the NULL pointer dereference in driver release if CONFIG_DM_CRYPT is enabled.

GHSA-MCRM-9H74-FXH7
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-10-21 12:30 – Updated: 2024-10-24 15:31In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
netkit: Assign missing bpf_net_context
During the introduction of struct bpf_net_context handling for XDP-redirect, the netkit driver has been missed, which also requires it because NETKIT_REDIRECT invokes skb_do_redirect() which is accessing the per-CPU variables. Otherwise we see the following crash:
BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000038
bpf_redirect()
netkit_xmit()
dev_hard_start_xmit()
Set the bpf_net_context before invoking netkit_xmit() program within the netkit driver.

Mitigation MIT-56
For any pointers that could have been modified or provided from a function that can return NULL, check the pointer for NULL before use. When working with a multithreaded or otherwise asynchronous environment, ensure that proper locking APIs are used to lock before the check, and unlock when it has finished [REF-1484].
Mitigation
Select a programming language that is not susceptible to these issues.
Mitigation
Check the results of all functions that return a value and verify that the value is non-null before acting upon it.
Mitigation
Identify all variables and data stores that receive information from external sources, and apply input validation to make sure that they are only initialized to expected values.
Mitigation
Explicitly initialize all variables and other data stores, either during declaration or just before the first usage.
No CAPEC attack patterns related to this CWE.
