GHSA-3H7P-FXXX-92W8
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-10-21 21:30 – Updated: 2025-11-04 00:31In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/amd/display: Fix system hang while resume with TBT monitor
[Why] Connected with a Thunderbolt monitor and do the suspend and the system may hang while resume.
The TBT monitor HPD will be triggered during the resume procedure and call the drm_client_modeset_probe() while struct drm_connector connector->dev->master is NULL.
It will mess up the pipe topology after resume.
[How] Skip the TBT monitor HPD during the resume procedure because we currently will probe the connectors after resume by default.

GHSA-3H89-G9R5-CVX9
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-09-18 09:30 – Updated: 2024-11-22 21:32In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
tracing/osnoise: Use a cpumask to know what threads are kthreads
The start_kthread() and stop_thread() code was not always called with the interface_lock held. This means that the kthread variable could be unexpectedly changed causing the kthread_stop() to be called on it when it should not have been, leading to:
while true; do rtla timerlat top -u -q & PID=$!; sleep 5; kill -INT $PID; sleep 0.001; kill -TERM $PID; wait $PID; done
Causing the following OOPS:

GHSA-3HP3-H35P-GQG4
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-02-22 18:30 – Updated: 2024-06-27 12:30In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
apparmor: avoid crash when parsed profile name is empty
When processing a packed profile in unpack_profile() described like
"profile :ns::samba-dcerpcd /usr/lib*/samba/{,samba/}samba-dcerpcd {...}"
a string ":samba-dcerpcd" is unpacked as a fully-qualified name and then passed to aa_splitn_fqname().
aa_splitn_fqname() treats ":samba-dcerpcd" as only containing a namespace. Thus it returns NULL for tmpname, meanwhile tmpns is non-NULL. Later aa_alloc_profile() crashes as the new profile name is NULL now.

It seems such behaviour of aa_splitn_fqname() is expected and checked in other places where it is called (e.g. aa_remove_profiles). Well, there is an explicit comment "a ns name without a following profile is allowed" inside.
AFAICS, nothing can prevent unpacked "name" to be in form like ":samba-dcerpcd" - it is passed from userspace.
Deny the whole profile set replacement in such case and inform user with EPROTO and an explaining message.

GHSA-3J4F-WX4W-Q2CQ
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-02-22 18:30 – Updated: 2024-03-18 18:32In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
erofs: fix inconsistent per-file compression format
EROFS can select compression algorithms on a per-file basis, and each per-file compression algorithm needs to be marked in the on-disk superblock for initialization.
However, syzkaller can generate inconsistent crafted images that use
an unsupported algorithmtype for specific inodes, e.g. use MicroLZMA
algorithmtype even it's not set in sbi->available_compr_algs. This
can lead to an unexpected "BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference" if
the corresponding decompressor isn't built-in.
Fix this by checking against sbi->available_compr_algs for each
m_algorithmformat request. Incorrect !erofs_sb_has_compr_cfgs preset
bitmap is now fixed together since it was harmless previously.

Mitigation MIT-56
For any pointers that could have been modified or provided from a function that can return NULL, check the pointer for NULL before use. When working with a multithreaded or otherwise asynchronous environment, ensure that proper locking APIs are used to lock before the check, and unlock when it has finished [REF-1484].
Mitigation
Select a programming language that is not susceptible to these issues.
Mitigation
Check the results of all functions that return a value and verify that the value is non-null before acting upon it.
Mitigation
Identify all variables and data stores that receive information from external sources, and apply input validation to make sure that they are only initialized to expected values.
Mitigation
Explicitly initialize all variables and other data stores, either during declaration or just before the first usage.
No CAPEC attack patterns related to this CWE.
