Summary
Wasmtime has host panic when Winch compiler executes `table.fill`
Details

Impact

Wasmtime's Winch compiler contains a vulnerability where the compilation of the table.fill instruction can result in a host panic. This means that a valid guest can be compiled with Winch, on any architecture, and cause the host to panic. This represents a denial-of-service vulnerability in Wasmtime due to guests being able to trigger a panic.

The specific issue is that a historical refactoring, #11254, changed how compiled code referenced tables within the table.* instructions. This refactoring forgot to update the Winch code paths associated as well, meaning that Winch was using the wrong indexing scheme. Due to the feature support of Winch the only problem that can result is tables being mixed up or nonexistent tables being used, meaning that the guest is limited to panicking the host (using a nonexistent table), or executing spec-incorrect behavior and modifying the wrong table.

Patches

Wasmtime 36.0.7, 42.0.2, and 43.0.1 have been issued to fix this bug. Users are recommended to update to these patched versions of Wasmtime.

Workarounds

Users of Cranelift are not affected by this issue, but for users of Winch there is no workaround for this bug. Hosts are recommended to updated to a patched version of Wasmtime.

GHSA-Q7CG-457F-VX79

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-06-11 13:27 – Updated: 2026-06-12 19:28
VLAI
Summary
joi has an uncaught RangeError on deeply nested input through recursive `link()` schemas
Details

Impact

Denial of service via untrapped exception in services validating user-supplied JSON / object input with recursive link schemas.

The blast radius depends on how the application invokes joi: - Highest impact: validate() called without try/catch in a request handler would cause an unhandled exception, potentially crashing the process. - Lower impact: validateAsync() or validate() inside a try/catch, the validation fails, but the error type is RangeError rather than a structured ValidationError, complicating error handling.

Patches

Upgrade to version >= 18.2.1.

Workarounds

Try/catch the validation to avoid uncaught exceptions.

Summary
engine.io Uncaught Exception vulnerability
Details

Impact

A specially crafted HTTP request can trigger an uncaught exception on the Engine.IO server, thus killing the Node.js process.

TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'handlesUpgrades')
    at Server.onWebSocket (build/server.js:515:67)

This impacts all the users of the engine.io package, including those who uses depending packages like socket.io.

Patches

A fix has been released today (2023/05/02): 6.4.2

This bug was introduced in version 5.1.0 and included in version 4.1.0 of the socket.io parent package. Older versions are not impacted.

For socket.io users:

Version range engine.io version Needs minor update?
socket.io@4.6.x ~6.4.0 npm audit fix should be sufficient
socket.io@4.5.x ~6.2.0 Please upgrade to socket.io@4.6.x
socket.io@4.4.x ~6.1.0 Please upgrade to socket.io@4.6.x
socket.io@4.3.x ~6.0.0 Please upgrade to socket.io@4.6.x
socket.io@4.2.x ~5.2.0 Please upgrade to socket.io@4.6.x
socket.io@4.1.x ~5.1.1 Please upgrade to socket.io@4.6.x

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-07-20 18:32 – Updated: 2026-08-24 12:31
VLAI
Details

A flaw was found in libcupsfilters and cups-filters. The PNG image reading function creates a libpng reader without installing an error recovery handler, causing the CUPS image filter process to abort when processing a malformed PNG file. An unauthenticated attacker could exploit this by submitting a specially crafted PNG print job, leading to denial of service of the in-flight print job.
