VAR-201005-0334

Vulnerability from variot - Updated: 2025-04-11 23:10

Multiple integer overflows in src/image.c in Ziproxy before 3.0.1 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via (1) a large JPG image, related to the jpg2bitmap function or (2) a large PNG image, related to the png2bitmap function, leading to heap-based buffer overflows. Ziproxy is a forwarded, non-cached, compressed HTTP proxy server. Ziproxy can compress images into low quality JPEG files or JPEG 2000 and compress (gzip or) HTML and other text-like data. Ziproxy has an integer overflow, and a remote attacker can exploit the vulnerability to execute arbitrary instructions with application privileges. Ziproxy is prone to multiple integer-overflow vulnerabilities because it fails to properly validate user-supplied data. Failed exploit attempts will likely result in denial-of-service conditions. Ziproxy 3.0 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected. ======================================================================

"data": "Multiple integer overflows in src/image.c in Ziproxy before 3.0.1 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via (1) a large JPG image, related to the jpg2bitmap function or (2) a large PNG image, related to the png2bitmap function, leading to heap-based buffer overflows. \nZiproxy 3.0 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected. ====================================================================== \n\n Secunia Research 24/05/2010\n\n - Ziproxy Two Integer Overflow Vulnerabilities -\n\n====================================================================== \nTable of Contents\n\nAffected Software....................................................1\nSeverity.............................................................2\nVendor\u0027s Description of Software.....................................3\nDescription of Vulnerability.........................................4\nSolution.............................................................5\nTime Table...........................................................6\nCredits..............................................................7\nReferences...........................................................8\nAbout Secunia........................................................9\nVerification........................................................10\n\n====================================================================== \n1) Affected Software \n\n* Ziproxy 3.0.0\n\nNOTE: Other versions may also be affected. \n\n====================================================================== \n2) Severity \n\nRating: Highly critical\nImpact: System access\nWhere: Remote\n\n====================================================================== \n3) Vendor\u0027s Description of Software \n\n\"Ziproxy is forwarding, non-caching, compressing HTTP proxy server. \n\nProduct Link:\nhttp://ziproxy.sourceforge.net/\n\n====================================================================== \n4) Description of Vulnerability\n\nSecunia Research has discovered two vulnerabilities in Ziproxy, which\ncan be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable \nsystem. \n\n====================================================================== \n5) Solution \n\nUpdate to version 3.0.1. \n\n====================================================================== \n6) Time Table \n\n19/05/2010 - Vendor notified. \n19/05/2010 - Vendor response. \n20/05/2010 - Vendor issues fixed version. \n24/05/2010 - Public disclosure. \n\n====================================================================== \n7) Credits \n\nDiscovered by Stefan Cornelius, Secunia Research. \n\n====================================================================== \n8) References\n\nThe Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) project has assigned \nCVE-2010-1513 for the vulnerabilities. \n\n====================================================================== \n9) About Secunia\n\nSecunia offers vulnerability management solutions to corporate\ncustomers with verified and reliable vulnerability intelligence\nrelevant to their specific system configuration:\n\nhttp://secunia.com/advisories/business_solutions/\n\nSecunia also provides a publicly accessible and comprehensive advisory\ndatabase as a service to the security community and private \nindividuals, who are interested in or concerned about IT-security. \n\nhttp://secunia.com/advisories/\n\nSecunia believes that it is important to support the community and to\ndo active vulnerability research in order to aid improving the \nsecurity and reliability of software in general:\n\nhttp://secunia.com/secunia_research/\n\nSecunia regularly hires new skilled team members.
