Title
DataEase: Quartz Deserialization → Remote Code Execution
Summary
DataEase is an open-source data visualization and analytics platform. Versions 2.10.20 and below ship the legacy velocity-1.7.jar, which pulls in commons-collections-3.2.1.jar containing the InvokerTransformer deserialization gadget chain. Quartz 2.3.2, also bundled in the application, deserializes job data BLOBs from the qrtz_job_details table using ObjectInputStream with no deserialization filter or class allowlist. An authenticated attacker who can write to the Quartz job table, such as through the previously described SQL injection in previewSql, can replace a scheduled job's JOB_DATA with a malicious CommonsCollections6 gadget chain payload. When the Quartz cron trigger fires, the payload is deserialized and executes arbitrary commands as root inside the container, achieving full remote code execution. This issue has been fixed in version 2.10.21.

Apache MINA: CWE-502 Deserialization of Untrusted Data

The fix for CVE-2024-52046 in Apache MINA AbstractIoBuffer.getObject() was incomplete. The classname allowlist of classes allowed to be deserialized was applied too late after a static initializer in a class to be read might already have been executed. Affected versions are Apache MINA 2.0.0 <= 2.0.27, 2.1.0 <= 2.1.10, and 2.2.0 <= 2.2.5. The problem is resolved in Apache MINA 2.0.28, 2.1.11, and 2.2.6 by applying the classname allowlist earlier. Title
Ray: Remote Code Execution via Parquet Arrow Extension Type Deserialization
Summary
Ray is an AI compute engine. From version 2.54.0 to before version 2.55.0, Ray Data registers custom Arrow extension types (ray.data.arrow_tensor, ray.data.arrow_tensor_v2, ray.data.arrow_variable_shaped_tensor) globally in PyArrow. When PyArrow reads a Parquet file containing one of these extension types, it calls __arrow_ext_deserialize__ on the field's metadata bytes. Ray's implementation passes these bytes directly to cloudpickle.loads(), achieving arbitrary code execution during schema parsing, before any row data is read. This issue has been patched in version 2.55.0.

Summary
Hyperledger Fabric is an enterprise-grade permissioned distributed ledger framework for developing solutions and applications. From versions 1.0.0 to 2.2.26, Channel.java implements readObject() and exposes deSerializeChannel() which call ObjectInputStream.readObject() on untrusted byte arrays without configuring an ObjectInputFilter. Apache MINA: AbstractIoBuffer.resolveClass() null-clazz Branch Skips acceptMatchers Filter — Full Object Deserialization RCE
Summary
Apache MINA's AbstractIoBuffer.resolveClass() contains two branches, one of them (for static classes or primitive types) does not check the class at all, bypassing the classname allowlist and allowing arbitrary code to be executed. The fix checks if the class is present in the accepted class filter before calling Class.forName().  Affected versions are Apache MINA 2.0.0 <= 2.0.27, 2.1.0 <= 2.1.10, and 2.2.0 <= 2.2.5. The problem is resolved in Apache MINA 2.0.28, 2.1.11, and 2.2.6 by applying the classname allowlist earlier. Affected are applications using Apache MINA that call  IoBuffer.getObject(). Applications using Apache MINA are advised to upgrade.

In Spring for Apache Kafka, overly broad trusted-package matching in header mappers exposes JDK classes to deserialization
Summary
JsonKafkaHeaderMapper and the deprecated DefaultKafkaHeaderMapper matched type headers against trusted packages using a prefix check, meaning that trusting any package implicitly trusted all of its subpackages. Combined with Jackson's default bean deserialization, a producer could supply crafted header values that caused the consumer to deserialize arbitrary JDK types. JsonPulsarHeaderMapper matched type headers against trusted packages using a prefix check, meaning that trusting any package implicitly trusted all of its subpackages. CAPEC-586: Object Injection

An adversary attempts to exploit an application by injecting additional, malicious content during its processing of serialized objects. Developers leverage serialization in order to convert data or state into a static, binary format for saving to disk or transferring over a network. These objects are then deserialized when needed to recover the data/state. By injecting a malformed object into a vulnerable application, an adversary can potentially compromise the application by manipulating the deserialization process. This can result in a number of unwanted outcomes, including remote code execution.
