Summary
Improper permission checks allow canceling queue items and aborting builds in Jenkins
Details

Jenkins 2.299 and earlier, LTS 2.289.1 and earlier allows users to cancel queue items and abort builds of jobs for which they have Item/Cancel permission even when they do not have Item/Read permission.

Jenkins 2.300, LTS 2.289.2 requires that users have Item/Read permission for applicable types in addition to Item/Cancel permission.

As a workaround on earlier versions of Jenkins, do not grant Item/Cancel permission to users who do not have Item/Read permission.

Details

An issue was discovered in Epikur before 20.1.1. The Epikur server contains the checkPasswort() function that, upon user login, checks the submitted password against the user password's MD5 hash stored in the database. It is also compared to a second MD5 hash, which is the same for every user (aka a "Backdoor Password" of 3p1kursupport). If the submitted password matches either one, access is granted.

Details

SOPlanning is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in user management tab. Users with user_manage_team role are allowed to modify permissions of users. However, they are able to assign administrative permissions to any user including themselves. This allow a malicious authenticated attacker with this role to escalate to admin privileges. This issue affects both Bulk Update functionality and regular edition of user's right and privileges.

This issue was fixed in version 1.55.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2025-01-21 21:30 – Updated: 2025-01-21 21:30
VLAI
Details

Vulnerability in the Oracle Communications Order and Service Management product of Oracle Communications Applications (component: Security). Supported versions that are affected are 7.4.0, 7.4.1 and 7.5.0. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Oracle Communications Order and Service Management. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized read access to a subset of Oracle Communications Order and Service Management accessible data. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 5.3 (Confidentiality impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N).

Mitigation
Architecture and Design
  • Divide the product into anonymous, normal, privileged, and administrative areas. Reduce the attack surface by carefully mapping roles with data and functionality. Use role-based access control (RBAC) [REF-229] to enforce the roles at the appropriate boundaries.
  • Note that this approach may not protect against horizontal authorization, i.e., it will not protect a user from attacking others with the same role.
Mitigation
Architecture and Design

Ensure that access control checks are performed related to the business logic. These checks may be different than the access control checks that are applied to more generic resources such as files, connections, processes, memory, and database records. For example, a database may restrict access for medical records to a specific database user, but each record might only be intended to be accessible to the patient and the patient's doctor [REF-7].

Mitigation MIT-4.4
Architecture and Design

Strategy: Libraries or Frameworks

  • Use a vetted library or framework that does not allow this weakness to occur or provides constructs that make this weakness easier to avoid.
  • For example, consider using authorization frameworks such as the JAAS Authorization Framework [REF-233] and the OWASP ESAPI Access Control feature [REF-45].
Mitigation
Architecture and Design
  • For web applications, make sure that the access control mechanism is enforced correctly at the server side on every page. Users should not be able to access any unauthorized functionality or information by simply requesting direct access to that page.
  • One way to do this is to ensure that all pages containing sensitive information are not cached, and that all such pages restrict access to requests that are accompanied by an active and authenticated session token associated with a user who has the required permissions to access that page.
Mitigation
System Configuration Installation

Use the access control capabilities of your operating system and server environment and define your access control lists accordingly. Use a "default deny" policy when defining these ACLs.

No CAPEC attack patterns related to this CWE.
