Title
OpenHarness Remote Administrative Command Injection via Gateway Handler
Summary
OpenHarness prior to commit dd1d235 contains a command injection vulnerability that allows remote gateway users with chat access to invoke sensitive administrative commands by exploiting insufficient distinction between local-only and remote-safe commands in the gateway handler. Attackers can execute administrative commands such as /permissions full_auto through remote chat sessions to change permission modes of a running OpenHarness instance without operator authorization.

Title
ChurchCRM has Missing Object-Level Authorization / IDOR in `/api/person/{personId}`
Summary
ChurchCRM is an open-source church management system. In versions prior to 7.2.0, the GET /api/person/{personId} endpoint loads and returns person records without performing object-level authorization checks. Although the legacy PersonView.php page enforces canEditPerson() restrictions, the API layer omits this check. Any authenticated user with only EditSelf privileges can enumerate and read other members' records, exposing sensitive PII including names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses. This issue has been fixed in version 7.2.0.

Title
wger has Broken Access Control in the Global Gym Configuration Update Endpoint
Summary
wger is a free, open-source workout and fitness manager. In versions 2.5 and below, the GymConfigUpdateView declares permission_required = 'config.change_gymconfig' but inherits WgerFormMixin instead of WgerPermissionMixin, so the permission is never enforced at runtime. Since GymConfig is an ownerless singleton, any authenticated user can modify the global gym configuration, triggering save() side effects that bulk-update user profile gym assignments — a vertical privilege escalation to installation-wide configuration control. This issue is fixed in version 2.5.

Title
Authenticated Movary User Can Self-Escalate to Administrator via PUT /settings/users/{userId} by Setting isAdmin=true
Summary
Movary is a self hosted web app to track and rate a user's watched movies. Prior to version 0.71.1, an ordinary authenticated user can escalate their own account to administrator by sending `isAdmin=true` to `PUT /settings/users/{userId}` for their own user ID. The endpoint is intended to let a user edit their own profile, but it updates the sensitive `isAdmin` field without any admin-only authorization check. Version 0.71.1 patches the issue.

Title
NamelessMC: Reactions on private or blocking profile posts can be read and modified without proper authorization
Summary
NamelessMC is website software for Minecraft servers. In version 2.2.4,`core/classes/Misc/ProfilePostReactionContext.php` only verifies that the wall post exists and does not enforce blocked/private-profile visibility. `modules/Core/queries/reactions.php` allows unauthenticated GET requests for reaction details. This means that unauthenticated visitors can read reaction participants and timestamps for private profile posts and uthenticated low-privileged users can add reactions to private or blocking profile posts. Version 2.2.5 fixes the issue.

Title
Note Mark has Broken Access Control on Asset Download
Summary
Note Mark is an open-source note-taking application. In versions 0.19.1 and prior, the asset download endpoint at /api/notes/{noteID}/assets/{assetID} is registered without authentication middleware, and the backend query does not verify ownership or book visibility. An unauthenticated user who knows a valid note ID and asset ID can retrieve the full contents of private note assets without authentication, regardless of whether the associated book is public or private. This issue has been fixed in version 0.19.2.

Title
goshs has a file-based ACL authorization bypass in goshs state-changing routes
Summary
goshs is a SimpleHTTPServer written in Go. Prior to 2.0.0-beta.4, goshs enforces the documented per-folder .goshs ACL/basic-auth mechanism for directory listings and file reads, but it does not enforce the same authorization checks for state-changing routes. An unauthenticated attacker can upload files with PUT, upload files with multipart POST /upload, create directories with ?mkdir, and delete files with ?delete inside a .goshs-protected directory. By deleting the .goshs file itself, the attacker can remove the folder's auth policy and then access previously protected content without credentials. This results in a critical authorization bypass affecting confidentiality, integrity, and availability. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.0.0-beta.4.

By deleting the .goshs file itself, the attacker can remove the folder\u0027s auth policy and then access previously protected content without credentials. This results in a critical authorization bypass affecting confidentiality, integrity, and availability. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.0.0-beta.4."

Mitigation
Architecture and Design
  • Divide the product into anonymous, normal, privileged, and administrative areas. Reduce the attack surface by carefully mapping roles with data and functionality. Use role-based access control (RBAC) [REF-229] to enforce the roles at the appropriate boundaries.
  • Note that this approach may not protect against horizontal authorization, i.e., it will not protect a user from attacking others with the same role.
Mitigation
Architecture and Design

Ensure that access control checks are performed related to the business logic. These checks may be different than the access control checks that are applied to more generic resources such as files, connections, processes, memory, and database records. For example, a database may restrict access for medical records to a specific database user, but each record might only be intended to be accessible to the patient and the patient's doctor [REF-7].

Mitigation MIT-4.4
Architecture and Design

Strategy: Libraries or Frameworks

  • Use a vetted library or framework that does not allow this weakness to occur or provides constructs that make this weakness easier to avoid.
  • For example, consider using authorization frameworks such as the JAAS Authorization Framework [REF-233] and the OWASP ESAPI Access Control feature [REF-45].
Mitigation
Architecture and Design
  • For web applications, make sure that the access control mechanism is enforced correctly at the server side on every page. Users should not be able to access any unauthorized functionality or information by simply requesting direct access to that page.
  • One way to do this is to ensure that all pages containing sensitive information are not cached, and that all such pages restrict access to requests that are accompanied by an active and authenticated session token associated with a user who has the required permissions to access that page.
Mitigation
System Configuration Installation

Use the access control capabilities of your operating system and server environment and define your access control lists accordingly. Use a "default deny" policy when defining these ACLs.

CAPEC-665: Exploitation of Thunderbolt Protection Flaws

An adversary leverages a firmware weakness within the Thunderbolt protocol, on a computing device to manipulate Thunderbolt controller firmware in order to exploit vulnerabilities in the implementation of authorization and verification schemes within Thunderbolt protection mechanisms. Upon gaining physical access to a target device, the adversary conducts high-level firmware manipulation of the victim Thunderbolt controller SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) flash, through the use of a SPI Programing device and an external Thunderbolt device, typically as the target device is booting up. If successful, this allows the adversary to modify memory, subvert authentication mechanisms, spoof identities and content, and extract data and memory from the target device. Currently 7 major vulnerabilities exist within Thunderbolt protocol with 9 attack vectors as noted in the Execution Flow.
