Details

A vulnerability has been identified in JT2Go (All Versions < V13.1.0), JT2Go (V 13.1.0), Teamcenter Visualization (All Versions < V13.1.0), Teamcenter Visualization (V 13.1.0). Affected applications lack proper validation of user-supplied data when parsing ASM files. This could lead to pointer dereferences of a value obtained from untrusted source. An attacker could leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current process.

Details

All versions prior to 9.1.4 of Advantech WebAccess/SCADA are vulnerable to use of untrusted pointers. The RPC arguments the client sent client could contain raw memory pointers for the server to use as-is. This could allow an attacker to gain access to the remote file system and the ability to execute commands and overwrite files.

CAPEC-129: Pointer Manipulation

This attack pattern involves an adversary manipulating a pointer within a target application resulting in the application accessing an unintended memory location. This can result in the crashing of the application or, for certain pointer values, access to data that would not normally be possible or the execution of arbitrary code. Since pointers are simply integer variables, Integer Attacks may often be used in Pointer Attacks.
