Vulnerability from github – Published: 2025-10-07 18:31 – Updated: 2026-02-04 18:30

Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

drm/amdgpu: Fix size validation for non-exclusive domains (v4)

Fix amdgpu_bo_validate_size() to check whether the TTM domain manager for the requested memory exists, else we get a kernel oops when dereferencing "man".

v2: Make the patch standalone, i.e. not dependent on local patches. v3: Preserve old behaviour and just check that the manager pointer is not NULL. v4: Complain if GTT domain requested and it is uninitialized--most likely a bug.

Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

ALSA: hda/cs8409: Fix possible NULL dereference

If snd_hda_gen_add_kctl fails to allocate memory and returns NULL, then NULL pointer dereference will occur in the next line.

Since dolphin_fixups function is a hda_fixup function which is not supposed to return any errors, add simple check before dereference, ignore the fail.

Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with SVACE.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-04-22 15:31 – Updated: 2026-04-27 15:30
VLAI
Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

ksmbd: fix memory leaks and NULL deref in smb2_lock()

smb2_lock() has three error handling issues after list_del() detaches smb_lock from lock_list at no_check_cl:

1) If vfs_lock_file() returns an unexpected error in the non-UNLOCK path, goto out leaks smb_lock and its flock because the out: handler only iterates lock_list and rollback_list, neither of which contains the detached smb_lock.

2) If vfs_lock_file() returns -ENOENT in the UNLOCK path, goto out leaks smb_lock and flock for the same reason. The error code returned to the dispatcher is also stale.

3) In the rollback path, smb_flock_init() can return NULL on allocation failure. The result is dereferenced unconditionally, causing a kernel NULL pointer dereference. Add a NULL check to prevent the crash and clean up the bookkeeping; the VFS lock itself cannot be rolled back without the allocation and will be released at file or connection teardown.

Fix cases 1 and 2 by hoisting the locks_free_lock()/kfree() to before the if(!rc) check in the UNLOCK branch so all exit paths share one free site, and by freeing smb_lock and flock before goto out in the non-UNLOCK branch. Propagate the correct error code in both cases. Fix case 3 by wrapping the VFS unlock in an if(rlock) guard and adding a NULL check for locks_free_lock(rlock) in the shared cleanup.

Found via call-graph analysis using sqry.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

drm/msm: Add error handling for krealloc in metadata setup

Function msm_ioctl_gem_info_set_metadata() now checks for krealloc failure and returns -ENOMEM, avoiding potential NULL pointer dereference. Explicitly avoids __GFP_NOFAIL due to deadlock risks and allocation constraints.

Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

libbpf: Prevent null-pointer dereference when prog to load has no BTF

In bpf_objec_load_prog(), there's no guarantee that obj->btf is non-NULL when passing it to btf__fd(), and this function does not perform any check before dereferencing its argument (as bpf_object__btf_fd() used to do). As a consequence, we get segmentation fault errors in bpftool (for example) when trying to load programs that come without BTF information.

v2: Keep btf__fd() in the fix instead of reverting to bpf_object__btf_fd().

Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

net: phy: dp83822: Fix NULL pointer dereference on DP83825 devices

The probe() function is only used for DP83822 and DP83826 PHY, leaving the private data pointer uninitialized for the DP83825 models which causes a NULL pointer dereference in the recently introduced/changed functions dp8382x_config_init() and dp83822_set_wol().

Add the dp8382x_probe() function, so all PHY models will have a valid private data pointer to fix this issue and also prevent similar issues in the future.

GHSA-CVCH-2H28-PXMH

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2025-09-05 18:31 – Updated: 2026-07-14 15:31
VLAI
Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

net: usb: asix_devices: add phy_mask for ax88772 mdio bus

Without setting phy_mask for ax88772 mdio bus, current driver may create at most 32 mdio phy devices with phy address range from 0x00 ~ 0x1f. DLink DUB-E100 H/W Ver B1 is such a device. However, only one main phy device will bind to net phy driver. This is creating issue during system suspend/resume since phy_polling_mode() in phy_state_machine() will directly deference member of phydev->drv for non-main phy devices. Then NULL pointer dereference issue will occur. Due to only external phy or internal phy is necessary, add phy_mask for ax88772 mdio bus to workarnoud the issue.

Mitigation MIT-56
Implementation

For any pointers that could have been modified or provided from a function that can return NULL, check the pointer for NULL before use. When working with a multithreaded or otherwise asynchronous environment, ensure that proper locking APIs are used to lock before the check, and unlock when it has finished [REF-1484].

Mitigation
Requirements

Select a programming language that is not susceptible to these issues.

Mitigation
Implementation

Check the results of all functions that return a value and verify that the value is non-null before acting upon it.

Mitigation
Architecture and Design

Identify all variables and data stores that receive information from external sources, and apply input validation to make sure that they are only initialized to expected values.

Mitigation
Implementation

Explicitly initialize all variables and other data stores, either during declaration or just before the first usage.

No CAPEC attack patterns related to this CWE.
