Common Weakness Enumeration

CWE-416

Allowed

Use After Free

Abstraction: Variant · Status: Stable

The product reuses or references memory after it has been freed. At some point afterward, the memory may be allocated again and saved in another pointer, while the original pointer references a location somewhere within the new allocation. Any operations using the original pointer are no longer valid because the memory "belongs" to the code that operates on the new pointer.

9874 vulnerabilities reference this CWE, most recent first.

GHSA-FWH4-95HV-8XHF

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-06-24 18:32 – Updated: 2026-07-23 21:30
VLAI
Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

bpf: Fix use-after-free in offloaded map/prog info fill

When querying info for an offloaded BPF map or program, bpf_map_offload_info_fill_ns() and bpf_prog_offload_info_fill_ns() obtain the network namespace with get_net(dev_net(offmap->netdev)). However, the associated netdev's netns may be racing with teardown during netns destruction. If the netns refcount has already reached 0, get_net() performs a refcount_t increment on 0, triggering:

refcount_t: addition on 0; use-after-free.

Although rtnl_lock and bpf_devs_lock ensure the netdev pointer remains valid, they cannot prevent the netns refcount from reaching zero.

Fix this by using maybe_get_net() instead of get_net(). maybe_get_net() uses refcount_inc_not_zero() and returns NULL if the refcount is already zero, which causes ns_get_path_cb() to fail and the caller to return -ENOENT -- the correct behavior when the netns is being destroyed.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-06-24 18:32 – Updated: 2026-07-24 00:32
VLAI
Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

bus: fsl-mc: use generic driver_override infrastructure

When a driver is probed through __driver_attach(), the bus' match() callback is called without the device lock held, thus accessing the driver_override field without a lock, which can cause a UAF.

Fix this by using the driver-core driver_override infrastructure taking care of proper locking internally.

Note that calling match() from __driver_attach() without the device lock held is intentional. [1]

Summary
ImageMagick has Use After Free in MSLStartElement in "coders/msl.c"
Details

A crafted MSL script triggers a heap-use-after-free. The operation element handler replaces and frees the image while the parser continues reading from it, leading to a UAF in ReadBlobString during further parsing.

Details

Unified Automation UaGateway OPC UA Server Use-After-Free Denial-of-Service Vulnerability. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to create a denial-of-service condition on affected installations of Unified Automation UaGateway. Authentication is required to exploit this vulnerability.

The specific flaw exists within the implementation of the ImportXML function. The issue results from the lack of validating the existence of an object prior to performing operations on the object. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to create a denial-of-service condition on the system. Was ZDI-CAN-20497.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2025-05-16 15:31 – Updated: 2025-11-17 18:30
VLAI
Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

net_sched: hfsc: Fix a UAF vulnerability in class with netem as child qdisc

As described in Gerrard's report [1], we have a UAF case when an hfsc class has a netem child qdisc. The crux of the issue is that hfsc is assuming that checking for cl->qdisc->q.qlen == 0 guarantees that it hasn't inserted the class in the vttree or eltree (which is not true for the netem duplicate case).

This patch checks the n_active class variable to make sure that the code won't insert the class in the vttree or eltree twice, catering for the reentrant case.

Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

RDMA/efa: Fix use of completion ctx after free

On admin queue completion handling, if the admin command completed with error we print data from the completion context. The issue is that we already freed the completion context in polling/interrupts handler which means we print data from context in an unknown state (it might be already used again). Change the admin submission flow so alloc/dealloc of the context will be symmetric and dealloc will be called after any potential use of the context.
