CWE-416
AllowedUse After Free
Abstraction: Variant · Status: Stable
The product reuses or references memory after it has been freed. At some point afterward, the memory may be allocated again and saved in another pointer, while the original pointer references a location somewhere within the new allocation. Any operations using the original pointer are no longer valid because the memory "belongs" to the code that operates on the new pointer.
9874 vulnerabilities reference this CWE, most recent first.

GHSA-5MCP-3252-F5VR
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-06-17 18:35 – Updated: 2026-07-16 12:32NGINX Open Source has a vulnerability in the ngx_http_v3_module module. When NGINX Open Source is configured to use the HTTP/3 QUIC module, a remote unauthenticated attacker along with conditions beyond their control can use a specially crafted HTTP/3 session to reopen a QPACK encoder stream. This may cause a Use-after-Free in the NGINX worker process leading to a restart. Additionally, attackers can execute code on systems with Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR) disabled or when the attacker can bypass ASLR.
Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated.

GHSA-5MHV-G6M4-PMP4
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2025-02-27 18:31 – Updated: 2025-02-27 18:31In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
driver: base: fix UAF when driver_attach failed
When driver_attach(drv); failed, the driver_private will be freed. But it has been added to the bus, which caused a UAF.
To fix it, we need to delete it from the bus when failed.

Mitigation
Strategy: Language Selection
