VLAI
Summary
Potential double free of buffer during string decoding
Details

Impact

What kind of vulnerability is it? Who is impacted?

When an error occurs while reallocating the buffer for string decoding, the buffer gets freed twice.

Due to how UltraJSON uses the internal decoder, this double free is impossible to trigger from Python.

Patches

Has the problem been patched? What versions should users upgrade to?

Users should upgrade to UltraJSON 5.4.0.

Workarounds

Is there a way for users to fix or remediate the vulnerability without upgrading?

There is no workaround.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2025-08-19 18:31 – Updated: 2025-12-07 00:30

Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

Bluetooth: hci_sync: fix double free in 'hci_discovery_filter_clear()'

Function 'hci_discovery_filter_clear()' frees 'uuids' array and then sets it to NULL. There is a tiny chance of the following race:

'hci_cmd_sync_work()'

'update_passive_scan_sync()'

'hci_update_passive_scan_sync()'

 'hci_discovery_filter_clear()'
   kfree(uuids);

   <-------------------------preempted-------------------------------->
                                       'start_service_discovery()'

                                         'hci_discovery_filter_clear()'
                                           kfree(uuids); // DOUBLE FREE

   <-------------------------preempted-------------------------------->

  uuids = NULL;

To fix it let's add locking around 'kfree()' call and NULL pointer assignment. Otherwise the following backtrace fires:

Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

mptcp: fix double-free on socket dismantle

when MPTCP server accepts an incoming connection, it clones its listener socket. However, the pointer to 'inet_opt' for the new socket has the same value as the original one: as a consequence, on program exit it's possible to observe the following splat:

BUG: KASAN: double-free in inet_sock_destruct+0x54f/0x8b0 Free of addr ffff888485950880 by task swapper/25/0

GHSA-FPRR-Q2H8-XVJ4

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-05-01 15:30 – Updated: 2026-07-14 15:31
VLAI
Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

net/x25: Fix potential double free of skb

When alloc_skb fails in x25_queue_rx_frame it calls kfree_skb(skb) at line 48 and returns 1 (error). This error propagates back through the call chain:

x25_queue_rx_frame returns 1 | v x25_state3_machine receives the return value 1 and takes the else branch at line 278, setting queued=0 and returning 0 | v x25_process_rx_frame returns queued=0 | v x25_backlog_rcv at line 452 sees queued=0 and calls kfree_skb(skb) again

This would free the same skb twice. Looking at x25_backlog_rcv:

net/x25/x25_in.c:x25_backlog_rcv() { ... queued = x25_process_rx_frame(sk, skb); ... if (!queued) kfree_skb(skb); }

Mitigation
Architecture and Design

Choose a language that provides automatic memory management.

Mitigation
Implementation

Ensure that each allocation is freed only once. After freeing a chunk, set the pointer to NULL to ensure the pointer cannot be freed again. In complicated error conditions, be sure that clean-up routines respect the state of allocation properly. If the language is object oriented, ensure that object destructors delete each chunk of memory only once.

Mitigation
Implementation

Use a static analysis tool to find double free instances.
