Details

A double-free flaw was found in the Linux kernel’s TUN/TAP device driver functionality in how a user registers the device when the register_netdevice function fails (NETDEV_REGISTER notifier). This flaw allows a local user to crash or potentially escalate their privileges on the system.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

mtd: rawnand: fix double free in atmel_pmecc_create_user()

The "user" pointer was converted from being allocated with kzalloc() to being allocated by devm_kzalloc(). Calling kfree(user) will lead to a double free.

Details

FreeRDP 3.29.0 before 3.32.0 contains a double free in the client's async-update message proxy, which shallow-copies the parser-owned PolygonSC or PolygonCB points array when numPoints is zero, so both the queue consumer and parser cleanup free it. A malicious RDP server can send a point-bearing polygon order followed by a zero-point order to crash a client with +async-update enabled.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-07-25 12:31 – Updated: 2026-07-27 06:30
VLAI
Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

smb: client: fix query_info() replay double-free

A response-bearing attempt can return a replayable error and free its response buffer. If SMB2_query_info_init() fails before the next send, cleanup retains the previous buffer type and frees that response again.

Reset response bookkeeping before each attempt to prevent the stale free.

GHSA-5WFV-MPG7-6VCR

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-07-27 09:31 – Updated: 2026-10-19 21:35
VLAI
Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

nvmet-tcp: Fix potential UAF when ddgst mismatch

Shivam Kumar found via vulnerability testing: When data digest is enabled on an NVMe/TCP connection and a digest mismatch occurs on a non-final H2C_DATA PDU during an R2T-based data transfer, the digest error handler in nvmet_tcp_try_recv_ddgst() calls nvmet_req_uninit() — which performs percpu_ref_put() on the submission queue — but does NOT mark the command as completed. It does not set cqe->status, does not modify rbytes_done, and does not clear any flag. When the subsequent fatal error triggers queue teardown, nvmet_tcp_uninit_data_in_cmds() iterates all commands, checks nvmet_tcp_need_data_in() for each one, and finds that the already-uninited command still appears to need data (because rbytes_done < transfer_len and cqe->status == 0). It therefore calls nvmet_req_uninit() a second time on the same command — a double percpu_ref_put against a single percpu_ref_get.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-06-24 18:32 – Updated: 2026-07-21 18:30
VLAI
Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

PCI: endpoint: pci-ep-msi: Fix error unwind and prevent double alloc

pci_epf_alloc_doorbell() stores the allocated doorbell message array in epf->db_msg/epf->num_db before requesting MSI vectors. If MSI allocation fails, the array is freed but the EPF state may still point to freed memory.

Clear epf->db_msg and epf->num_db on the MSI allocation failure path so that later cleanup cannot double-free the array and callers can retry allocation.

Also return -EBUSY when doorbells have already been allocated to prevent leaking or overwriting an existing allocation.

Details

A specially crafted aggregation query with $lookup by an authenticated user with write privileges can cause a double-free or use-after-free memory issue in the slot-based execution (SBE) engine when an in-memory hash table is spilled to disk.

Mitigation
Architecture and Design

Choose a language that provides automatic memory management.

Mitigation
Implementation

Ensure that each allocation is freed only once. After freeing a chunk, set the pointer to NULL to ensure the pointer cannot be freed again. In complicated error conditions, be sure that clean-up routines respect the state of allocation properly. If the language is object oriented, ensure that object destructors delete each chunk of memory only once.

Mitigation
Implementation

Use a static analysis tool to find double free instances.
