CWE-191
AllowedInteger Underflow (Wrap or Wraparound)
Abstraction: Base · Status: Draft
The product subtracts one value from another, such that the result is less than the minimum allowable integer value, which produces a value that is not equal to the correct result.
728 vulnerabilities reference this CWE, most recent first.

GHSA-HX9Q-2MX4-M4PG
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2022-05-24 22:12 – Updated: 2022-05-24 22:12Impact
The implementation of tf.raw_ops.UnsortedSegmentJoin does not fully validate the input arguments. This results in a CHECK-failure which can be used to trigger a denial of service attack:
import tensorflow as tf
tf.strings.unsorted_segment_join(
inputs=['123'],
segment_ids=[0],
num_segments=-1)
The code assumes num_segments is a positive scalar but there is no validation:
const Tensor& num_segments_tensor = context->input(2);
auto num_segments = num_segments_tensor.scalar<NUM_SEGMENTS_TYPE>()();
// ...
Tensor* output_tensor = nullptr;
TensorShape output_shape =
GetOutputShape(input_shape, segment_id_shape, num_segments);
Since this value is used to allocate the output tensor, a negative value would result in a CHECK-failure (assertion failure), as per TFSA-2021-198.
Patches
We have patched the issue in GitHub commit 84563f265f28b3c36a15335c8b005d405260e943 and GitHub commit 20cb18724b0bf6c09071a3f53434c4eec53cc147.
The fix will be included in TensorFlow 2.9.0. We will also cherrypick this commit on TensorFlow 2.8.1, TensorFlow 2.7.2, and TensorFlow 2.6.4, as these are also affected and still in supported range.

GHSA-J7GW-XCVP-F76Q
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-07-16 12:30 – Updated: 2026-05-12 12:32In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
NFSD: Fix ia_size underflow
iattr::ia_size is a loff_t, which is a signed 64-bit type. NFSv3 and NFSv4 both define file size as an unsigned 64-bit type. Thus there is a range of valid file size values an NFS client can send that is already larger than Linux can handle.
Currently decode_fattr4() dumps a full u64 value into ia_size. If that value happens to be larger than S64_MAX, then ia_size underflows. I'm about to fix up the NFSv3 behavior as well, so let's catch the underflow in the common code path: nfsd_setattr().

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2022-05-13 01:05 – Updated: 2022-05-13 01:05When processing subtitles format media file, KMPlayer version 2018.12.24.14 or lower doesn't check object size correctly, which leads to integer underflow then to memory out-of-bound read/write. An attacker can exploit this issue by enticing an unsuspecting user to open a malicious file.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-03-30 17:17 – Updated: 2026-03-31 18:50Impact
A vulnerability has been identified in which a maliciously crafted .idx file can cause asymmetric memory consumption, potentially exhausting available memory and resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS) condition.
Exploitation requires write access to the local repository's .git directory, it order to create or alter existing .idx files.
Patches
Users should upgrade to v5.17.1, or the latest v6 pseudo-version, in order to mitigate this vulnerability.
Credit
The go-git maintainers thank @kq5y for finding and reporting this issue privately to the go-git project.
